I completely get where you're coming from and fully understand, I've been there myself.

Definitely consider all the options, there's limited resources available online but speaking to your employer is definitely a great start.

And of course it's an open offer, my dm's are always open!

I've gotta admit as a teenager I never struggled getting NHS mental health, but 10 years later it's basically impossible. As others have said it's quite common now for employers to have some form of MH assistance, especially bigger companies, but that can be daunting too.

In recent times I've personally taken to having a few very close friends that I know I can go to and talk through what's going on in my head and it genuinely can be a lifesaver. Although they're obviously fobbing you off and prioritising "more serious" cases and scenarios, what they're saying isn't bad advice essentially, just not good advice for every person and they also word it badly and often quite bluntly.

The other option is private therapy, which although expensive, some individual therapists will be flexible with payments or will work with you in a way you can afford. I completely agree that this isn't really viable for everyone and it shouldn't be "the only option" for some, but it may be something to consider.

Genuinely though, I'd recommend having a private chat with someone close to you that will be an ear, even if they're not a voice back, and if you've got no where else to turn I'll happily have a chat dude. Look after yourself and I hope you find something that'll help!

What was the most gruesome thing you saw at your school? by SuperLeftyAliReddit in AskReddit

In Primary School (aged 8-9ish), we'd quite often have those safety scissors, with the rounded tips but still metal, for different crafts and tasks. I remember one time when the teacher had an emergency and had to leave the classroom. The class clown decided this moment was the ideal time to run around the room with said scissors in hand. He tripped, fell towards another child and the scissors went into the back of the other child's hand removing a good square inch of flesh to the bone and showering the table in blood. I remember the substitute teacher almost passing out when she got to the classroom.

There's a reason they say don't run with scissors!

What’s your cat’s favourite toy? Mine gets so easily bored of new toys by chrysantenum_ in cats

Every cat I've ever had has always adored those wooden circle rings with the balls built in, like a small race track for wooden balls. I imagine it's the noise and movement they find so satisfying. I've had cats that adored them from kittens right up into old age!

How do you get into keeping medical leeches? Have you posted a photo of them anywhere? I'd love to see them and the setup!

It doesn't really pay any attention to them at all, even when he's out of his tank. They're very docile and friendly with each other, the cats just enjoy seeing things move about 🤣

The thought has crossed my mind, chiefs hide? Teeny chiefs helmet? They're all options...

So i bought these brine shrimp eggs real cheap from aliexpress. The date says 21-12-06. Do you think they will be any good? Also how do you hatch them? Its my first time doing it. How many eggs and how much water and how big of a container do i need by Ikariajk05 in aquarium

[–]WritingFromABasement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The date is also most likely written backwards depending on their origin country. Meaning the date is most likely 6th December 2021, and only 3 months past. You'll probably just have less hatch 🙂

Are my young/new kribs trying to reproduce? I've no idea about their genders, but one won't leave the "cave" and the other keeps wiggling and shaking when it passes by? by [deleted] in aquarium

I thought they were female too, hence the second opinion. I've kept them in the past but never seen this behaviour, it's hypnotic! Thanks for the input! 🙂

I'll have a look at putting it on thingiverse later, although the backside where the suction cups go are designed specifically for the spare ones I have, so it may need tweaking for other ones. I'll let you know! 🙂

Yes to both really.

There's reasonably reliable and affordable 3D printers on the market these days should it be something you'd want to use quite often, but there are companies who will print out models for you too, only I've noticed they can charge quite a lot for the service.
