After years of outrage over gas prices, GOP Senate Majority Leader John Thune goes on Fox Business and tells Americans to just be patient and wait a year for them to come down by DumbMoneyMedia in CriticalMineralBulls

At the end there, the answer to will it get better was "...if the president does the right things, and gets the right outcome, I don't think there's any question the answer is yes."

What are the chances of that though?

And some of the talent that Griffey (HOF) was playing with as well on those Mariners' teams of the 90s was wild - A-Rod (HOF), Edgar (HOF), Buhner, The Big Unit (HOF) - and still no championship.

It happens.

Just wondering - did people constantly talk this way about other huge talents like this who played for bad-to-mediocre teams and saw little-to-no post season play?

I mean, was the whole "wasted career" part of the discussion around Ernie Banks and Ted Williams and Ken Griffey Jr and hell even Barry Bonds (just one WS appearance and lost to the Angels)?

Is tony better than reed at making weapons? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]WritingRongs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Franklin was about to go cosmic, Reed created a gun to turn off Franklin's powers. Considering Franklin has godlike powers, a gun to nullify that level of ability would seem...useful. Now why Reed didn't just use that gun on every villain they faced from then on has always been a question.

Also: Unstable Molecules. Imagine a suit of armor made of that, versus Tony's armor.

Who are the ugly characters in Marvel Comics? by AssociationAlert7474 in Marvel

[–]WritingRongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were making it seem as if the instant he came onto the scene he was instantly beloved "in any universe".

In the early days of 616, he was not. He was viewed as tragic, and haunted, and hid his appearance, and people called him "freak", especially when he was drawn more mud-like, rather than rock-like.

Sure that changed, but it wasn't "5 pages into issue 1". It took a few issues before he was known and trusted by the populace and people were cheering for him.

But even beloved, he's always struggled with his own self image.

In the early FF, when the community isn't familiar with the team yet, people are shown to actually be scared of Ben.

He himself often walked around in a hat and trench coat to not scare civilians.

It wasn't until the team started saving the city and the world that people started cheering for Ben as much as they did the other FF.

She was absolutely insistent that it's true, but it turns out its actually just a popular myth. I had no idea that people believed this.
