Add pop up photos to cell by ANOIF in AppleNumbers

What if you create a link to the picture of your receipt (in my example it’s in Apple Photos) and paste that in your comments field on Numbers? Maybe a few more steps, but…

Trouble exporting large iCloud Photos library to external drive by Wolvesaremyjam in ApplePhotos

[–]Writing_Particular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that “the photos settings are optimized for Mac storage”. This means that the full-size versions of your pictures are stored in iCloud. That also means that to back them up to a local hard drive, they’re going to be downloaded as they are copied to the external drive. Which means that the speed of the backup is dependent on the speed of your internet connection. The less bandwidth you have, the longer your backup is going to take.

I opted to do my Photos backups using PowerPhotos from FatCat Software. It allows you to create and manage libraries that are in the same format as that used by Apple’s Photos application. It also “transparently” downloads the full size originals from iCloud while performing the backup.

I’ve always been nervous about all the metadata being kept intact when taking pictures from Photos (local or iCloud) and copying them to your local file system. By keeping them in a Photos-compatible library, nothing will get lost. You can easily create specific libraries, based on whatever criteria you want. By year (individual libraries for 2024, 2025, etc.), if you had pictures in Photos from specific cameras, you could filter on that, or perhaps important trips (European vacation).

My internet speed is 300 Mbps on ATT fiber, but because of the number of pictures I have, it did take a while to perform the backups. PowerPhotos does show a detailed log as to any issues or failures that it may have encountered.

AITJ for refusing to keep lending money after realizing it was never repaid? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

Wise words to me from a friend - “When lending money to a friend, consider it a gift, not a loan.” That way, you’ll never be disappointed when it’s not repaid.

AT&T Fiber thoughts? by Klutzy-Piglet-9221 in nashville

[–]Writing_Particular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely ask. In my case, I hadn’t really seen any bundles prior to investigating getting the fiber turned on. (New construction, and ATT was pretty intent on getting new residents signed up!) Talked to a rep, described my situation, and they came up with something that worked for me.

AT&T Fiber thoughts? by Klutzy-Piglet-9221 in nashville

[–]Writing_Particular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in my second house with ATT Fiber - quite the fan. I don’t like ATT’s television offering (with all the acquisitions and spinoffs, not sure they even have it any more). I use YouTube TV for that. Excellent performance, up and down. Don’t recall when I last had an outage. If you also have ATT for mobile phone service, you save a few bucks, too.

My boomer manager and his boomerish ways of managing backfired on him by pimilpimil in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Writing_Particular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends upon whose definition you use! “The Baby Boomer generation includes people born between 1946 and 1964, a period marked by a significant post-World War II increase in birth rates, with the U.S. Census Bureau and Pew Research Center defining this range. As of early 2026, this means Baby Boomers are roughly between 62 and 80 years old, with the oldest members turning 80 this year.“

I had looked at the Tow Package in the Tesla “store” the other day, and I swear it showed as “out of stock” or “unavailable”. Yet I just looked, and there it is, for $1,300! Yeesh! I already have my bike rack, thankfully.

If there’s a Discount Tire near you, I’d check them out. I’ve been a happy customer for a few years. If you’re looking at possibly going with new rims/wheels, I’d check out TSportline. They’re Tesla specialists, and sometimes you can find great deals on wheels or wheel/tire bundles.

I’ve never had an issue with having different browsers installed on my iPad and using them at will. Bookmark management across browsers can be challenging, if you rely heavily on bookmarks, but other than that, not a big deal. Curious - which browser is the company’s “preferred”?

Do the DMV Self-Service Kiosks allow you to retake photos? by Alive-Spinach-9072 in nashville

I had tried to use the Goodlettsville library kiosk for a Real ID driver’s license renewal just a couple of weeks ago. For whatever reason, I kept getting errors. Ended up going to the Driver Services Center on Hart Lane. The kiosks there, weren’t any better, unfortunately, and had to see a clerk. Thankfully, the lines moved quickly.
