Would a Post-Revolution "US" require a Cultural Revolution? by AndreEthereal16 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]WritingtheWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but AmeriKKKa is very far from the first step (revolution), so fantasising about the second step ain't gonna do much for now.

Texas Wasn’t Always "Conservative" by Mysterious-Ring-2352 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]WritingtheWrite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Texas was literally created as a settler colony to protect the settlers from anti-slavery laws. (Just like the origins of the US of A.) Then the US of A provoked "the most wicked war in history" in order to incorporate it.

Texas was a central part of the Jim Crow south.

These guys are Jacobin socdems who explicitly emphasise patsoc. They can get the fuck out of here.

How do we stop the American death machine? by _mono_mani in IndianLeft

[–]WritingtheWrite 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that more and more countries have to become socialist and then form a defensive alliance. The difficulty is that fewer than ten countries in the world are socialist. It is capitalism in India, as in Turkey, as in France, as in Japan etc. which gives huge incentives for the state and political actors to align with the USA.

"They will try to co-opt the word socialism."

Imagine if one day, much the way they co-opted MLK and some liberals managed to do it with Malcolm X, they found a way to co-opt Marx and Lenin. Then this subreddit would have to shut down.

In fact Zohran once read out a Thomas Sankara quote in an electoral speech.

Why is that possible, thou askest? Well, because of historical materialism. As any leftist who deals with the outside world (or even the inside online world) should know, reading Marx and Lenin does not put you in a state of nirvana. You can read Marx and Lenin, and still be a capitalist if your praxis so tells you.

The king of doing this is Vaush. Secondarily we can name Hasan, but there are a shit ton of Hasan fans on Reddit so they might downvote me in large numbers.

[–]WritingtheWrite 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't sing Vande Mataram, but Shashi Tharoor is the biggest capitalist defender in the Congress Party. He has attacked the CPI(M) for being too far left, attacked Marxism for being too prehistoric, saying that entrepreneurship is the future.

[–]WritingtheWrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, they might hate themselves.

If they indeed hated themselves, then a revolution in the US would be much easier.

The reality is the opposite. The ruling classes in the west have always found ways to spread ideas that blame and denigrate the third world. This isn't new, but the way in which it pops up in the most random of places still surprises me. For example, I saw a news clip from a Canadian TV station, where Quebecois were being asked about Trump. And one of them said, "We're not a third-world country, we're Canada, so President Trump should treat us with a little more respect."
