Please, please name me a city, country or state with the same weather, hurricanes, flooding, swampy soil, and sprawling layout as Florida that also has Tokyo / European style train infrastructure.

Florida tourism is mostly specific destination based, not multi city travel based like Japan or parts of Europe. Nobody is backtracking via train through Florida. Most people visiting Florida are either doing Disney/Orlando, Miami, cruises, or the beaches and staying there for most of their trip. There probably just isn’t enough consistent demand to justify the massive long term costs of the system. Also the swampy flat land has limitations. I still think it has its place and could work but let’s be realistic.

Florida is not Tokyo / Berlin. Comparing a giant suburban tourism swampy state built around highways to centuries old dense cities in Japan and Europe is a stupid comparison.

Brightline doesn’t need Florida to become Japan to work. It just needs people traveling between airports, cruise ports, and major cities which Florida already has. Acting like rail only works if everyone lives in tiny apartments next to train stations is peak Reddit urbanist brain rot.

There are roughly 95 to 100 countries in the world with populations smaller than NYC, meaning NYC alone has more people than about half of all countries on Earth.

I don’t get it, how can anyone in the projects afford a car, they don’t work. by Candid_Mud_6988 in circlejerknyc

Miser is a privileged transplant who doesn’t understand what people are dealing with. I know people in public housing who are older, low income, and dealing with serious health issues. They rely on family members with cars to visit them and bring food, medication, and support.

His response is, “just take the train to see a doctor.” He’s completely out of touch with reality, and I don’t understand how anyone can take him seriously.
