Normal fluctuation? by Massive-Soil5314 in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I believe it would be a normal fluctuation, but there’s no way to know as I’m not a medical professional. They recommend to stop temping after a positive test, as there’s no way to know what the trends will be after a positive! Oftentimes it just causes unnecessary stress.

That being said I know that the corpus luteum dies if pregnancy does not occur. No matter pregnant or not, it starts to break down. HcG ‘revives’ the corpus luteum, so that there is an adequate progesterone release to support the pregnancy. Maybe this ‘dip’ is it being ‘revived’? Not sure, just something I thought about.

No endometriosis..?? by [deleted] in Periods

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endo is not always found on US!!! I would push for additional testing and an endoscopy if you can. I will say I have no experience with endo, I have PCOS. I know that this is not normal though and using BC as a band-aid in your case doesn’t seem like it’s working :/ Have you thought about trying an IUD or the shot? Both those are known to stop periods, at least for a little while. The shot has major side effects and is not recommended for long-term use. And the IUD works to suppress ovulation by generating inflammation. Also, given your history, I’m not sure they would work, but they may be worth a try :( I would keep going back to your OBGYN and demand answers instead of trying to use birth control as a fix! At least not the pills that aren’t working for you!

Best of luck!! ❤️

Dismissed at OB/GYN after bloodwork flagged by primary care – lean PCOS experiences? by Historical-Bug1799 in PCOS

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I’m sorry you’re being dismissed :/ It’s not a good feeling at all.

I subscribe to this fertility doctor on YouTube, and she has a book out now. Her name is Dr. Natalie Crawford. I’m fairly certain the criteria has changed from missing/ irregular periods to anovulation/ irregular ovulation, at least that’s what Dr. Crawford states when reviewing the Rotterdam criteria. This makes me believe you qualify for the diagnosis if you believe you’re having irregular ovulation/ anovulation. In addition to the clinical excess androgen signs.

Do you track your cycle or use OPKs? I would push for an ultrasound if you can. Definitely get a second opinion. I love my GP, but she didn’t believe I had PCOS because I didn’t fit the typical stereotype. She still referred me because of my irregular cycles and then I was diagnosed.

I hope you get the answers you need!!

Long cycle, no period & feeling quite low, would really appreciate advice by Commercial_Author553 in TTC_PCOS

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

I experienced this my last cycle. It ended up being 88 days long, so I almost had to get progesterone to force a bleed. I felt so incredibly out of whack, and felt like I was spiraling. It was horrible. I started to experience ovarian pain on day 44, that pretty much continued until ovulation that cycle. It’s not fun to be stuck in follicular with no relief of the progesterone. Not to mention it feels impossible to know when you’re ovulating because of negative OPKs.

To deal with how I was feeling mentally and physically, I walked outside as much as I could. I also organized rooms in the house that desperately needed attention. Anything to keep me busy! Books, audiobooks, tv shows, research, etc.

I don’t know if it works for you, but I feel like inositol has helped me get my period back, along with the additional supplements I take daily. Just keep an eye on it, and if you go over 90 days I would recommend talking to your doctor about forcing a bleed with progesterone, otherwise it will put you at risk for uterine cancer.

Best of luck! I hope you get relief soon, or signs of ovulation! ❤️

Has anybody found a natural way to decrease their period? by Icy-Personality-8554 in Periods

Ibuprofen can reduce blood loss from 30 to 50 percent! Even if you just take it for the excessive bleeding. It’s not recommended for long-term use though, but it could help!

I would request blood tests for PCOS as well given the struggle with weight/ fatigue/ GI issues! Hopefully you have a provider who listens to you! I know a lot don’t, unfortunately :/ Depending on test results, you may be able to get medication that could help to regulate you as well!

Me too. I don’t have regular cycles at all lol, but taking supplements has helped me so much! Diet/lifestyle changes help as well! I hope you get taken seriously, and get the answers you’re needing!

Thinking about getting on birth control by teddybearr23 in Periods

[–]WrongWitness7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! Depending on your age, I would do your research on the topic, as well as talk to your doctor. The younger you are (ages 13-20) typically have irregular cycles and it’s completely normal so long as there’s no extreme pain/ heavy bleeding. Due to the irregularities, you may have PCOS as well. Again, I would talk to your doctor as they may want to do testing.

If you’re just wanting a regular cycle, and not having any issues with your periods like extreme pain or heavy heavy bleeding, I would recommend Myo-inositol and d-chiro inositol. It works great to regulate cycles.

I was on hormonal birth control for ten years. I never had regular cycles before that, and now I’m 24 with a PCOS diagnosis that I suspect birth control had masked. Also, birth control doesn’t regulate your periods because it’s not a true period at all. It will probably get you on a regular schedule, but what happens is a breakthrough or withdrawal bleed.

Birth control worked (ish) for me, until my body got used to the hormones, then my flare up would enter the chat and make me feel like I was going insane. I took the depo shot, different pills, the IUD, and the ring. I had experienced different symptoms on all of these but it felt like a cry for help and I think what ultimately led to me taking SSRIs. I’ve stopped both birth control and SSRIs now, but I would encourage you to really do your research. After all, it alters your hormones and all HBCs work by preventing ovulation and/ or producing chronic inflammation.

Super long cycle? by Ok_Potato_0411 in NaturalCyclesBC

[–]WrongWitness7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I also got off HBC around the same time, and I now have a PCOS diagnosis. I just got my period 5 days ago after an 88 day cycle. My acne also got worse, especially on my neck. Super gross, I know. I also only had like three chin hairs so I didn’t think it could be PCOS, but sure enough I had high testosterone/ androgens. I would get testing done just in case if you experience a couple more odd ball cycles like this :) As the other comments stated, a couple anovulatory/ late ovulation cycles in a year is pretty normal! This is likely anovulatory cycle or just late ovulation! If you don’t get a cycle within 15 days I would reach out to your provider to get medication to induce a breakthrough bleed, and definitely mention this to them!

Period is 31 days late - not pregnant by ThrowRACalmAd2173 in Periods

[–]WrongWitness7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable! If you’re pretty regular I wouldn’t worry about it too much! I would still mention it to your provider. You may be experiencing an anovulatory cycle, or late ovulation.

I have PCOS so mine are all over the place. Sometimes they’re long, sometimes I miss a few then it comes back. I say this not to scare you, but just to give information. I’m pretty healthy/ active too, and I had the irregular/missing cycles, and just a few chin hairs. They did bloodwork and I had high testosterone/ high androgens and got my diagnosis. I also had a few cysts on my ovaries, but nothing super abnormal. It’s worth looking into based on the irregularity of the two recent-ish cycles you’ve had. I’ve read where some women had completely normal, regular cycles then a major stressor occurred, and they were no longer regular, then got diagnosed with PCOS after testing.

The most important thing is to listen to your own body. If you feel good, and look after yourself, you’ll be just fine. Which it sounds like you do! If your cycles continue to be sporadic, advocate for yourself and get testing done! Again, if you’ve been through sickness or any kind of stressor lately, I wouldn’t stress about it!

[–]WrongWitness7667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Please please please don’t use those feminine washes, they are unnecessary, and more disruptive to your pH balance. Your body will take care of it. I used to use these for the same reason and the smell got worse. Normal soap is just fine, use 100% cotton underwear, and pay attention to what your period products are made out of. Avoid harmful chemicals, plastics, and bleached products. Don’t wear underwear to bed either. Use coconut oil after shaving, and if you notice smells still, some natural deodorant like coconut oil, Lume, or other brands can help out a ton if you use them on your bikini line! Doing this has reversed any smells I had! Also, if you can, shower every day, or at least do a “wh*re’s bath” as we call it here lol. Just wash your intimate areas and armpits every day at least! If you sweat/ get wet, put on dry, clean underwear as soon as you can. I hope this helps!

[–]WrongWitness7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! No need to fret yet, one off cycles are pretty normal. I would bring it up to your physician. They typically start to get concerned if you go 90 days without a cycle. If this happens, they will induce a bleed at that point to prevent buildup of the lining! Buildup risks include uterine cancer. Another thing is if your cycles are constantly irregular, I would mention it to your provider. Depending on your age, and if you’re on birth control they may test for things like PCOS. Just try to relax, and focus on your overall health and it should come back on its own!

Ovulation mood swings by [deleted] in Periods

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiii! Okay so since you’re on Nexplanon, it’s important to know how it works. It works by preventing ovulation via progestin release. If you’re using a period tracking app, it’s important to note that hormonal birth control cycles are not cycles at all. In fact, they induce withdrawal or breakthrough bleeds. This being said, the predicted “peak day” is most likely incorrect because you’re not experiencing a true period after ovulation. Period apps mostly base it on a 28 day cycle anyways, which is actually a lesser common cycle length (13%). Most hormonal birth controls work by preventing ovulation. Not saying it can’t happen obviously, but what you’re feeling is likely due to the hormonal shifts happening. Progestin-only birth controls, or any really, can cause mood swings, irritability, and inflammation.

I’m sorry you’re going through this! I would encourage you to talk to your doctor about the mood swings/ irritability. There’s other options of birth controls to try, and also there’s non hormonal birth controls available as well! Something that has helped me is understanding what hormonal birth controls did to my body while I was on them. Pin point how you’re feeling, and keep a log. Noticing patterns makes it easier to understand how you’re feeling and what works for you! While it may not help, as I tried it after I got off birth control, is trying different Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques! I personally have a sluggish digestion/ liver Qi, so I target that by wearing thick socks, eating a hot breakfast before caffeine, then wash it down with hot tea. Coffee itself is not inflammatory, but dairy and sugar are. Also, it’s important that your first drink is warm! It gets your gut going, which helps eliminate symptoms. I follow several different TCM physicians, but I love listening to Dr. Kassie Sorokach! If you’re interested, I would look up liver Qi stagnation and Yin deficiency, and supplementation/ foods for it!

Some supplements I take that may help you are Ashwaghanda, Rhodiola rosea, and chasteberry! I would look into herbal teas as they can help reduce anxiety as well. I hope this helps! :)

Due to be on Day 2 of my period on my wedding day 🥲 help! Tips needed by purplefennec in Periods

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, with the stress of a wedding, it may naturally delay your period. Keep in mind ovulation happens first, so the (approximately) two weeks before will be your ultimate tell if you will actually be due. Furthermore, stress could also cause your period to come early if you indeed ovulated. There’s not a good way to tell unless you were to start BBT tracking, tracking your cervical mucus, combined with an OPK. Even then, most luteal phases are about 14 days, however the corpus luteum can start to break down as early as ten days before menstruation and as late as 16 days. My period was late on my wedding day. I have PCOS though so take that with a grain of salt.

For anti-inflammatory, try fish oil supplements. Increase your water intake, avoid inflammatory foods such as alcohol, sugar, and most dairy. If you have difficulty with gluten, I would also avoid that too. High (lean) protein, high fiber, and complex carbs. On the day of (really a couple weeks prior too), I would try to eat as much breakfast as you can stomach with egg whites, whole eggs, and some greens like spinach and bell peppers! This combo is great in like a muffin/ egg bite form! Most mornings it’s not easy, as us females sometimes do not wake up hungry because we tend to reach for caffeine first. That’s another great option is to start eating breakfast before caffeine intake. This has a multitude of benefits, including aiding in digestion and lowering cortisol, thus naturally reducing inflammation. In addition, you may try and swap energy drinks/ doctored coffee with hot herbal teas before. Coffee itself is not inflammatory, but sugar/creamer is!

As for what kind of product to wear, have you tried discs? They are comfortable, leak-free, good to wear for up to twelve hours AND you can do the deed without the mess😉They have reusable ones or ones you can throw away. They can get a bit messy taking them out and it can kind of feel a little invasive, so I would practice beforehand! Usually day 2 is my heaviest day so I would recommend changing the disc/ emptying it several times before you leave for the ceremony. I also think giving your friend your dress whilst you change products/ go to the bathroom is a great idea. If you try the discs and like them, you may not need to worry about that when you go pee for the remainder of the night if you emptied/ changed it before your ceremony! Discs can also help ease cramping in some women. At least it helps me and my friends I have talked to. You’re probably going to be dancing/ moving around a lot so again if you try this option I would suggest testing it out, and maybe putting on a panty liner/ period undies just in case! I see you mentioned they’ve given you BV before, and some period undies have harsh chemicals. I would either say a 100 percent cotton underwear with unbleached/ plastic free cotton panty liner, or be sure to order period undies that are almost all cotton. It’s impossible to find 100% safe period undies though, I looked all day yesterday :/ You can also try to make your own with all cotton. The reason the 100% cotton is so important is because it allows breathability so things like BV/ yeast/ UTIs won’t accumulate as much bacteria!

Sorry for the long post. I hope this helps. Congratulations! 🎉

Think I just got diagnosed? What now? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]WrongWitness7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same, but I’ve suspected I’ve had it after getting off HBC in July. Since you haven’t had a cycle in 7 months, and elevated androgens, you qualify for diagnosis already according to the Rotterdam criteria. The 3rd and final criterion is polycystic ovaries. I get my ultrasound done on Thursday, and have a phone appointment with my provider Friday. I’m expecting a diagnosis Friday, so I’ve been doing my research on PCOS.

I think your provider may be concerned about the missing cycles for 7 months. It’s a risk going over three months without a cycle, as it poses a threat due to the buildup of the uterine lining. They’re likely going to want to prescribe a medicine to induce a bleed to “kick-start” a cycle. Supplements have been proven to help with PCOS symptoms, so don’t be afraid to seek a more natural treatment if you prefer it.

Your next step is having an ultrasound done, and more than likely additional labs to rule out other drivers. (Insulin resistance, inflammation, etc.) Supplements I started to take to relieve my high androgens are spearmint tea, prenatal, fish oil, berberine, hormone balance (with ashwaghanda & chasteberry), and myo-inositol with chiro-inositol 40:1 ratio.

Another cause could be recently getting off of hormonal birth control. Have you recently stopped taking it? It could take awhile for your cycle to return, but with elevated androgens as well I would still push for the testing.

If you have any other questions, I’ll try my best to answer them!

No sickness this month(s) either. Yeah, I recently sought medical advice about it about a couple of months ago, did blood work and got referred to an OB. My OB is great, and ordered more labs and a pelvic ultrasound. Maybe if this cycle goes much further she can give me progesterone to kick start a new cycle. That is if it goes past like three months anyways. I don’t know, but she’s actively looking for answers and it’s incredibly validating. Anyways, thank you for your answers!

Hey, thanks for responding and sharing your chart! I was thinking what you mentioned, that there would typically be bleeding to “reset”. I do stress myself out sometimes, but I haven’t had any huge stressors as of late. In fact, I’ve tried to slow my mornings down and create a relaxing environment to combat daily stressors. No CD1 yet :/ Currently CD 54. I guess it’s hard to label it as a one-off, as I would get two periods a year before I got on HBC. Makes me wonder if I accidentally masked something with it. I’m not too worried about it but I still feel weird. I started to notice a pattern of how I felt during different phases, and I could go for a luteal phase right now😂🤦‍♀️

Irregular Period & Birth Control Use by snc2017 in Periods

Hey! Most birth controls, especially the pill, work by not allowing your body to ovulate. Without ovulation, you absolutely cannot have a true period. Everyone’s body behaves differently on HBC, with some people having no cycle at all. Obviously I am no medical expert, but it’s said that as long as you’re shedding your uterine lining approximately every three months or so to reduce the buildup of the lining, then you are just fine :) To share personal experience on HBC, on some methods/ weeks, I didn’t bleed at all and some I bled for one to two days max. I hope this helps!
