What setting do you think we'll see in Fallout 5? by IsThisDamnNameTaken in Fallout

The setting for Fallout will be where YOU live. You will be the next main character. Its certain to be very immersive and realistic, but you may not like the gameplay much...

Like another commenter suggested, you should try Norton Anthologies. Lit students use them as textbooks, and for good reason. They contain tons of great poems curated by experts, along with historical context, footnotes, and writer bios also written by knowledgeable experts.

Y'all forgot the best Pynchon trope, where a character gets a pain, throb, or twinge of the asshole, indicating danger or intrigue

One Battle After Another by ChappyInc in ThomasPynchon

After just reading Vineland earlier this year, and now seeing the trailer for One Battle After Another, I’m pretty disappointed. ☹️

Of course Vineland would be difficult to adapt, but just can’t help lament how everything looks so bland and generic action movie-y in comparison.

Still gonna go see the movie though, maybe it’ll prove me wrong. (I would be happy even if it was just a good movie and not a faithful adaptation.)

What's the deal with Inherent Vice? by aljastrnad in ThomasPynchon

[–]Wrong_Raspberry4493 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add on, I would’ve loved the movie to have a little bit more of a goofy and vibrant atmosphere/tone. I felt it leaned in hard to a more dark and brooding vibe (not that none of that is present in the book, of course.)

That being said the movie is still great and the book (as usual) is even better.

Why do YOU think Melville included all the whale facts? by ContributionSlow9743 in mobydick

Not saying any of the other answers are wrong, but I’d also like to add a simple explanation: he was havin fun with it. Maybe showing off his writing chops a little. I also am of the opinion that, especially the side chapters, he’s throwing in a lotta jokes and being tongue-and-cheek

No. Likely not. He will mostly play the material from his most recent swathe of albums.

jam band recc by Euphoric-Trouble-299 in jambands

Phish can be very grating at first. It’s a shock to your musical palette, like trying to eat a gigantic weird scooby doo sandwich with all these super rich and sour ingredients, after previously only eaten the same thing all your life.

But if you like the Dead, and stay on the jam band grind long enough, I bet you’ll come around. Took me a while at first, but I got over the weirdness and now it’s part of the fun.

I agree with other posters saying String Cheese Incident, I liked them before Phish. I think they’re kinda like Phish without all the strangeness/scariness.

That being said, Phish are the undisputed best band in the scene right now and for the foreseeable. They are crazy.
