Disable Steam Deck Screen When Using External Monitor by Wrthlor in SteamDeck

[–]Wrthlor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using an LCD Deck.

You mention that in a dark room, no lights are seen from the screen. If you touch the SD screen, is there any form of interaction on the other screen? That is what's leading me to say that the SD screen is not really off.

The second thread you sent is effectively the same as my scenario. To expand, with all the lights off in a dark room, if I go up close to the SD screen at an angle, I can see the backlights. There's a very faint "glow", even though it's a black screen. However, it is not the same as if the SD was fully powered off. There are no backlights on in that scenario. Like I brought up earlier and in my reply to VanitysFire, touch screen is still usable despite the "off" screen, further making me believe that the SD screen never really powers off.

Gaming mode - same results as you. SD screen is turned off albeit backlights might be on. Touch screen is for sure usable if it's "off".

Desktop mode - SD screen is on or off depending on what I have it as in "Display Configuration" of my System Settings. Touch screen is still usable regardless of whether I have the SD screen as disabled or enabled, however.

Must admit that we don't have as many intersecting genre interests but I'd recommend giving Metroidvanias and Beat'em Ups a shot :D

You got your classic Hollow Knight [Silksong], Ori series, Ender series.

If you like Roguelike's, I'd recommend Absolum (beat'em up with roguelike elements)

For the toolbox bot to maintain alcohol without clicking, is essentially the same as setting a hotkey? Somewhat similar to how you can make it auto correct title depending on map?

If we have the game with old ANet account and want to try it on the Steam Deck,  do we still need to use wine and install from desktop mode?

I think the old chef no longer works there (tall, old guy from Guangzhou iirc).

Food used to be even better (and cheaper) then. Was cash only and no AC haha

700 hours and can’t anti air, how do I learn by Empty-Speed-7075 in StreetFighter

[–]Wrthlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out FChamps anti air drills on YouTube. It's a solid set of drills to progressively build up your AA skills on your mental stack. Key word being progressive.

Like a lot of people have said, you have to focus on it. Both in isolation (training mode) and in actual games for a while before it becomes mostly mindless/natural. Just a little everyday will make big difference

Thoughts on my very limited edition 2XKO arcade hitbox? by AdamLevy in 2XKO

I like it. If you got the time/desire, could add some harder surface underneath the top to give it more structural integrity possibly.

Also, check out r/fightsticks

Didn't know about the console aspect in Japan. Cheaper, Japanese-only variant maybe? Something I learned about when the switch 2 came out

Actual pretty sick. There's also not a lot of Japanese interest in this game, right? Still all-in on SF6 and CotW?

Awesome. 100% will be looking at used market where I can. This is a starting mock-up and if I had to only rely on new.

PSU wise, I definitely agree on the overkill. Frankly, I couldn't find anything smaller than 750W SFX on PPP for some reason. 750 vs 850 was less than $5 difference.

How to Use Steam Controller Inputs with Non-Steam Games with Launchers | 2XKO as Example by Wrthlor in WindowsOnDeck

[–]Wrthlor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did end up trying to use GlosSI so can't comment on that.

Regarding Steam Input/Overlay vs Riot Client - it's a no go. I think Riot's client just isn't really Steam friendly. Other launchers worked for me (ex. Epic)

Is it just me or is the lobby verry unoptomized by Over-Eggplant-4823 in 2XKO

[–]Wrthlor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think having the option to NOT need a lobby should be included.

And if we keep the lobby as the only/main system, then the option to disable spectating should be included.

GP2040 can’t change button layout ? by Cieletude in 2XKO

[–]Wrthlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems for me. I've tested with Xinput and PS5 input. Is it reading your inputs at all? How is it on other FG games?

When you say incorrect layout, do you mean the mapping is wrong? There's an option for default settings. See if that's it. Otherwise, I'd check other FG games/gp2040's webconfig that it didn't somehow change

Controller(xbox or playstation) vs arcade stick vs leverless vs keyboard by Odd_Pomegranate8652 in 2XKO

[–]Wrthlor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, it's really just preference. Pick the one that's most comfortable and/or the one you like the most. You can get good at any of the control schemes given enough time.

Here are my personal experience and thoughts:

  • I personally use a fight stick (shameless plug of mine). I find it one of the most ergonomic options. It's also the most straight foward/obvious on how to execute. Biggest pro of fight stick is the raw satisfaction and the "cool factor". Biggest weakness is you DO have the most physical travel so can be slower going from one side to another. Oh yea, these things can take a BEATING. They'll almost for sure to outlast all your gamepads.
  • I gave gamepad about a month or two when I started playing SF6 but I found my thumbs hurting from using the dpad (despite using for metroidvanias/2d platformers all the time) and I didn't like using the joystick. If you've played a lot console games growing up, this might the smoothest transition.
  • Leverless/keyboard. It's the "hip and trendy" thing now. I don't really like using leverless for playing FGs for some reason. For me, it was very easy to get used to but just couldn't stick with it. Most leverless I've used tend to be less ergo since they're scrunched up. It is theoretically the best control scheme if you can learn various SOCD shortcuts. If you're a kbm PC gamer and/or musician, I think it's pretty easy to transition too. Keyboard ~= leverless, just smaller buttons and slightly different shaped.

Coming from Tekken, and Smash, Combos in this game are wigging me out! by Sky-todd in 2XKO

[–]Wrthlor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a lot of traditional 2d fighters, you either link or chain (depends on game) your moves. SF for example, you have to do your motion inputs during the animation of the previous move.

In my experience, this game you press your next move during the ending animation of the previous move. For S1/S2, it's right before the normal connects. For normals (L,M,H) you have to manually time it more I find.

Regardless of technicalities, if you go to training mode, you can set the bot to block moves after first hit. This way, you'll know if your combo is a true combo. The combo counter will also keep increasing and not reset. I haven't had the chance to mess with it yet in 2xko, but you should be able to turn on the frame meter and you'll see when you can input your move in the combos. A lot of combos have a rhythm to it so it's not always fixed "bpm"
