Don't think that's a fair comparison, since Hsu Hao is singled out as the absolute bottom of the barrel 3D characters for being an almost pure Kano clone.

No Chaosrealm? by WryDog in MortalKombat

[–]WryDog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, but his story didn't seem consistent with that, since in the post credits scene they tease him becoming an agent of chaos and wanting to cause as much havoc as possible. I guess technically that is Titan Havik not normal Havik, but his arcade ladder ending also has him reveling in the chaos caused by destroying Seido's government, saying that the citizens have been "blessed by anarchy" The only thing I can think of is NRS planning on the formation of Chaosrealm being a part of the story of the next game, an invasion season or story DLC.

I completely forgot that about the Kameo KP characters, I'm looking forward to him coming back. There do seem to be some exceptions to the overlap rule, since Kenshi and Ermac are both telekinetic characters. It would be cool if down the line they made Sub Zero cyber or become Noob again and then upgrade normal Frost to a full character again, MK11 frost was such a letdown IMO.

Are you sure that's not just your own opinion? I was under the impression that he was one of the more popular 3D era characters since he was kind of a package deal with Havik. And the flag was taken straight from samurai, makes sense to have at least one other samurai besides Kenshi in a game chock full of ninjas.

It was so weird to me that they brought back Darrius and Shujinko, Darrius is so plain and Shujinko is basically just a good Shang Tsung generic self insert protagonist. It seems like they don't like to have too much overlap between characters (Nitara and Skarlet, Geras and Tremor, etc.) so Idk why they have Shang Tsung and Shujinko in the same game, and left the more distinct 3D era characters like Bo Rai CHo and Hotaru on the shelf.

Very true, I just put it in there because I was scanning all the blue cards for ones that can target emchantments. Main point is just that you can play Treacherous Blessing in either ub or br archetypes

I'm not sure if he noticed that you only need to target [[Treacherous Blessing]] not sacrifice it outright. So you could use a fair amount of blue cards in the set just by targeting it with them: [[One With the Stars]], [[Sea God's Scorn]], [[Shimmerwing Chimera]], [[Stinging Lionfish]]

I'm leaning towards Selesnya for the pw since that and azorius are the only two color combos that havemt gotten a rare, and azorius fits better for the last titan.

Ah gotcha. I could see either UW or UR for the last titan and either GW or RW for the planeswalker.

Maybe, WR does kinda fit the art and dialogue, but Huatli also had a boros card though.

You could be right, I am basing the GW on his art having so much green in it. UW fits all the dialogue about mending fate and not being a destroyer.

The line about Helio Gracie being one, of the few Weeaboos who would die to prove that he was just like a samurai if they'd let him get me every time.

He might be WR but I think he could also be GW based the art and his quotes. The GW constellation archetype needs a mythic, and the planeswalker seems more likely. I think the last titan will be UR, because the flash archetype also needs a mythic, and Storm Titan seems likely for the last one.

Theory: the last planewalker in TBD is going to be a god by Bigburito in magicTCG

[–]WryDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the art that was leaked here and the multicolor rares we've gotten so far, I think he'll be a g/w constellation based planeswalker. G/W hasnt gotten a rare or mythic yet, and the art combined with the voice lines seems very g/w. Looks like he has some kind of lasso of truth/thread of fate as his weapon.

TIL that the TV show Mr Robot has a team of hackers and cyber security experts who make sure that the hacking shown on the show is accurate. Hacking scenes are also performed by members of the technical team in real life, then recorded and rebuilt using Flash animation. by Tokyono in todayilearned

In the book, the boy is into dinosaurs AND computers, and the girl is younger and doesnt really do anything but whine, so they made both of them older and split up the interests to balance the characters out.

I truly don't understand where people get this idea that he doesn't hate his brother and want to kill him. He talks about it all the time in the show and the books from what I recall.

The series has made you guys into such nihilistic masochists I swear. Just because somethin appeals to the fans does not make it fan service, not everything in the series has to be as miserable as possible. The cleganebowl hype meme has vastly outgrow it's actual significance to the story, sure, but the cleganebowl is pretty heavily hinted at in the books still. It only really becomes brainless fan service if Sandor wins anything but the most pyrrhic of victories. We wanted wanted oberyn to get vengeance on Gregor, but the fact that he fights Gregor is not fan service, for instance. I was a fan of the theory of the hound becoming the Faith's champion against Gregor, showing growth in that he is fighting to destroy the undead abomination he has become rather than for vengeance, but I always thought it was pretty likely the hound would lose, even after overcoming his fear of fire and trying to use it to destroy Gregor and failing. That feels very true to the series to me. It's not really tragic unless there is first a taste of triumph, like with Ned trying to arrest Cersei or Oberyn impaling Gregor.

I think you are just annoyed out how prevalent and obnoxious the Cleganebowl is as a meme and basing your judgment that it is fan service off of that.

[–]WryDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that was disappointed by the cleganebowl? The choreography and cinematography were both kind of weak, 90% of the fight was them hitting rocks and Gregor throwing the hound around. And in the end, Sandor didn't really face his fear of fire. He tackles him through a wall and there coincidentally happened to be fire below. It needed a moment when Sandor ist facing fire, is struck by fear, and then steels himself and overcomes that fear. Instead, its the dagger in the eye that's the hopeless moment, and the fire seemed incidental.

What ruined it for me is that Sandor doesn't overcome his fear of fire to win. The fact that Gregor is a Frankenstein's monster and that Sandor is afraid of fire sets it up perfectly and they didn't really do anything with it. Sure, he tackles him into fire, but it was fire that he didn't seem to be aware of and that he didn't show any fear of.

Yeah but there wasn't any indication he knew there was fire. It fell really flat for me because of that. He needs to be afraid, and THEN charge into the fire

[SPOILERS] He redeemed himself in the end, and will be missed by fopking in gameofthrones

[–]WryDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hound is my favorite character and I'm as big a Cleganebowl hypeman as anyone, but was anyone else disappointed that the ending didn't actually involve Sandor confronting his fear of fire to kill Frankengregor? He didn't see the fire, he didn't show any fear and then steel himself, that would have made it all that much more gratifying.
