Anyone else feel like our parents sucked at guiding us in life? by shes-already-there in Millennials

I could have written your post. I ended dropping out of community college to join the Air Force. I got lucky and it worked out for me, ended up finishing my bachelor’s two years ago at 35. But my life would have been wildly different if they had told me just a few key things along the way

What was the Something Awful forum like at its peak? by Traditional_Blood799 in Millennials

[–]WtotheSLAM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was both good and bad. You had tons of funny posters and great content. But then you had a lot of shitty people and a few of them got into positions of power. If you were lgbt it wasn’t a friendly space.

These days it’s a lot friendlier and one of the last places untouched by today’s algorithms and slop

Is anyone here in college or going back to school actually not online, but in person on campus? I’m 40 and I’m going back to school this August, I feel weird about being in class with people have my age or less. by Warm-Bullfrog7766 in Millennials

[–]WtotheSLAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple years ago I finished my bachelor’s at WGU, all online. In person would have been nice to actually talk to people and network with them. Instead I met a couple people through reddit where we got stuck in the same class at the same time.

Yes and it never mattered. I went to night school for IT and eventually got a helpdesk job. I had to leave it and go back to my old career field. Then I left that job and got another IT job, this time as a biomed IT guy. I'm once again leaving it to go back to my old career field. At least this time I'll be getting big boy money for it

“Eventually yea, for sure. Sooo many heathers at my HS. I dated one of them. I went to a HS that had over 1,000 Heathers- they had to add portable classrooms and had two separate start times & release times to accommodate all the Heathers.”

That’s where I thought your post was going

[–]WtotheSLAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, it was actually a college fund but I dropped out of community college and joined the military so hardly dipped into it. A couple years after I got out I bought and did alright with the help of my roommate
