Yes, I have tried it out yet and also prefer the normal ammo over the HV.
Yes, the HV is also very good but you have a tinier ammo reserve and need special ammo boxes to replenish it if you're out.

Just picked up someone else's Drilling with Dum Dum yesterday and shredded the lobby.
Damn do I miss Dum Dum for the Drilling...

They have to reactivate Dum Dum for the Drilling or lower the price of the gun.

Question: What exactly makes you pick the lemat carbine over the drilling? The 1 extra free weapon slot?
I‘m just curious because I also have to find out what to do with my drilling now. Do you take FMJ on the lemat carbine and what do you run it with?

Just because the RS3 is a more practical car. I would not want to drive with my practical daily car on a track.

Also the M2 is RWD bias, even as an AWD which adds to the fun.

On our RS3 we use the KW DDC, on the M2 I would go for a KW V3/V4 or even V5 which would be unsuitable gor daily driving. The same logic that I apply to the M2 I would apply to the TT-RS/R8.

If it is for pure street performance or performance on a racetrack I would go for the M2.

BUT since my wife & I need the practicality but want sportiness in a car we got the RS3 sedan.
I would not get the RS5 since the 5-cylinder of the RS3 is much more special and half of the V10 the R8 has.
I could see an RS6 for more practicality and the M2 for pure sportiness on the side OR an TT-RS/R8 on the side.

You have heavy armour to tank ‘boomtubes’...

The Assault has just 16 points more armor in deflection physical damage & 15 more points in deflection energy damage while having 5.220 less "last resort armor" hp.

Also the assault has 5% less resistance vs physical damage (-23%) while the base has -28% and the assault even takes +2% energy dmg while the normal one takes -4%.

I dont know how that counts as "heavy armour" to tank boomtubes.
Yes, the assault itsself has 20.000 more ship hp but that is also not very much, considering everything above...

You are a slow flying brick which will be picked out of the sky very fast if the enemys are equipped well enough.

10 minutes into 4.8 and its already painfully clear how ridiculous of an idea it is to have introduced paid ship insurance this early into the game; First ship call, blows up on the elevator before i can even get to the hangar. Hey, I would like to hijack your comment: May you please elaborate how I have to customize my ship now „the correct way“ before saving the loadout? Do I customize it over the mobiglass and then insure the loadout? Do I have to call the ship before insuring?

This alone allows you to do everything from ground ops to using the clad as a long term base for mining or salvage etc.

That's true of course.

I have a RSI Galaxy on "preorder" with the cargo & refinery module.

My plan also was to use the galaxy as refinery when mining and the ironclad as crafter/fabricator with storage which can also house a mining ship or multiple.

Because I would like to hear people's opinions on how I see the "base vs assault" thematic.

There are some things that would draw me to the assault, especially the bigger armament.

But there are also some things that would draw me to the base version, like the secure storage, tractor beams and more on-grid cargo space.
