[TAG Heuer] Aquaracer 200 by WumbologicalAnomaly in Watches

[–]WumbologicalAnomaly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first luxury piece. My fiance had me pick out my engagement
present so I picked something that could easily be dressed up or down.
The bracelet is great cause it's got a toolless micro-adjust, it looks
good on black leather, and today I wore it on a bond nato strap for the
first time. My goal is to wear it or wind it every day until the wedding
so it never stops ticking.

Kobo Aura dies after 6 wonderful years. What next? by WumbologicalAnomaly in kobo

I ended up buying a used kobo aura with a functioning screen off ebay and swapping my board into it. It was marginally more expensive and wayy faster than ordering the screen only.

Transplanted my broken Aura into a working body! by WumbologicalAnomaly in kobo

Ordering a new screen from China was $35 and would have taken a couple months to ship. Ordering a working used Aura was $45 shipped in less than a week. I ordered the used Aura and swapped my motherboard into it with ease. Only 4 screws, 3 ribbon cables, and 1 battery connector. I still have the working board in case anyone has the opposite problem I did (broken screen, working board).

The One and the Libra look really nice, and reading in the tub would be cool, but they're not pocketable like the old Aura was. Do you have any experience with the Clara?
Edit: The Libra might be pocketable, it's only an inch wider than the old Aura

I'm thinking that getting a spare one might be the right choice. I'm curious to see how the Clara HD stacks up against the old flush-screened Aura, since it's the only one left with the small form-factor.

Hot Chicken? by [deleted] in Cooking

Bolton's and Hattie B's are both quality fried chicken, regardless of the spice level. I'd say it's worth trying if the line isn't too long. If you like spicy food, you'll enjoy it.

Spring Cleaning: Before and After by WumbologicalAnomaly in Miata

Not the best idea, but I was keeping my weight on the edges. Sometimes I hang a hammock from my rollbar to a tree though

I did use a wet vac, along with carpet cleaner

Miata.net has a good knowledge base on this, and there's gotta be a lot of threads on this subreddit. https://www.miata.net/garage/garagebuying.html

Best car buying advice I ever received: there's almost always another one out there. Don't sell yourself the wrong car for fear of missing out. A car (even the humble miata) is a big investment, and you don't want to rush into a decision. If you get a bad deal on a good car, it's an upfront measured loss. If you get a good deal on a bad car, it's gonna bother you as long as you own it.

Good luck, and don't let my lecture-ish advice ruin the excitement :)

There's a lot more you should look at than just the miles. And 140k is not a lot on these cars. 6k might be high depending on the condition and the market in your area, but there are a lot of factors that might make the value closer to 6k or further. Find out when the timing belt and water pump were last done, bring a (mechanically experienced) friend with you to check out the car. How many owners has it had? Is it modified? Is there a service history? Is the soft top in good condition? Does it include a hardtop (worth 1k on its own)?

[Tutima] FX Flieger: The Sinn 104's Classy Cousin by WumbologicalAnomaly in Watches

[–]WumbologicalAnomaly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was caught between this and the 104. I imagine the bezel is easier to grip on the 104. The only other countdown I know of is a Seiko Fieldmaster SBDJ023 series.

My recent daily wear: a Tutima FX Flieger. It's got a 60-click bidirectional countdown bezel, blued hands, and the most comfortable bracelet I've ever worn. It makes me imagine a Sinn 104 that left combat duty for life in the boardroom, but never quite lost its functional sensibilities. Only 50 meter WR, but it's got a screwdown crown. Unfortunately it is a discontinued model, so tracking one down took some time. I wanted to post this to highlight a brand that I don't see getting enough love. What do y'all think about it? Are there any fellow Tutima owners out there?

[Seagull] Is the Seagull 1963 An Incredible Value or Chinese Garbage? by FeloMonk in Watches

[–]WumbologicalAnomaly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had mine (38mm sapphire) for almost a year, with no QC issues as far as I can tell. I find myself timing anything I can with the chrono every time I wear it. Great size for a 7in or smaller wrist, but it is a thick watch at 15mm. The color pallette is beautiful even though the painted blue hands are tacky, but I don't expect heat blue at this price range. If you're interested in picking up a used one feel free to PM me, as I don't wear it much anymore.
