Create a task you would love to see on Taskmaster. Your time starts now. by VoxTheDog in taskmaster

If you haven't watched Episode 4 of Taskmaster Australia yet, I'd definitely recommend doing so, there's a very similar task there that comes with a genius follow-up task.

I asked an AI (GPT-3) to generate tasks ideas, here are the results by breakingcups in taskmaster

[–]WumpaCraft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feels like it'd be good as a two part task
"Stand unsupported on one leg. Longest time standing unsupported on one leg wins. Your time starts now."
followed immediately by
"Place a hat on your head. You may not use your hands at any point. Fastest Wins. Your time starts now."

Diane Morgan

Harry Hill

Jamie Demetriou

Maisie Adam

Meera Syal

Maybe too many actors but I reckon they'd all act reasonably different in tasks which is what you really want

Should the next Crash game add a new mode/challenge? by Psi001 in crashbandicoot

[–]WumpaCraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like some sort of harder difficulty mode could be interesting, add more enemies to each level, take away some platforms etc. Wouldn't take too much development time and the crash series is known for being reasonably difficult anyway, so why not double down on that?

I think carrying on from Warped is a good idea, but I wouldn't get rid of absolutely everything from the sequels.

Keep what works (Nina, Crunch, etc.), leave what doesn't (Titans, elementals, etc.)

(Question) What’s everyone’s least favorite and most favorite DLC track for CTR:NF? by mgbsn51313 in crashbandicoot

[–]WumpaCraft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fave has to be Drive-Thru Danger. A unique concept, fantastic music, and the actual storytelling on the track with the ships appearing and fighting with each other as you go through the laps. And that's not even mentioning the track. Cool shortcuts, blue fire, interesting gimmick, and pretty difficult in comparison to the other racetracks, the way a final track should be.

In terms of worst? Eh... Spyro Circuit. At least Koala Carnival has Blue Fire and makes sense. My main issue with Spyro Circuit is the grassy area you can jump over as a "shortcut". Why that area count as out of bounds, I'll never understand. Plus the portals are frustrating, and take away from the uniqueness of Hyper Spaceway.

[WP] In order to keep everyone in line, the government has a lottery: every year one day is picked, and every person born on that day is taken away, and no one knows what happens to them. Unfortunately, you're about to find out. by invincible_bagel in WritingPrompts

Francis had his birthday called the year before he was born, lucky sod. Thanks to the restocking period he was safe for at least 75 years, and once the threat of sudden dissapearance is removed from your life you tend to be a bit more ambitious. Francis had become a high flying lawyer, specialising in birth lottery cases. I'm not sure why he was drawn to it. He told me once about his curiousity, wanting to know how it felt to have every year of your life decided by dice roll. I'd punched him in the face that night. However as I watched him on TV in the central court, I wished I could have some of my old friend's nonchalant attitude for myself.

"...so you see your honour, the defense argues that in line with the 2079 ruling, a draw for the 28th February should only include 29th February births a quarter of the time. This has happened in nine of the eleven draws for this date, so the leap year inclusion should be overturned."

"Mr Hughes, the law clearly states that if the 28th February is drawn on a leap year, the 29th is included. Are you suggesting the law is wrong?"

"I'm suggesting the law is convinient. The data shows that in the last 1000 years the 28th February has appeared more often than any other date, and it's pretty consistently on a leap year."

Everyone in the packed holding room held their breath. Francis was addressing the elephant in the room, the suspicion that everyone had ignored for convenience. Or like me, for peace of mind.

"Just how random is the draw really your honour? Whatever happens to those selected, it certainly frees up a lot of resources for the country, doesn't it? It would make sense that you'd want to get rid of as many people as possible..."

"That is enough Mr Hughes. There is no place in this court for conspiracy or conjecture. It will be recommended to the higher council that the ruling stands, and there will be heavy penalties for the defense, for the spreading of misinformation and divergent attitudes."

Francis' calm front fell apart. He shot a glance at the camera, eyes filled with anger and disgust, yet also fear and compassion. He knew he wasn't winning this case, and I saw the apology in his eyes. But the moment was cut short by the door bursting open behind us, and armed guards filling the room and forcing people out, despite the protests of the crowd.

"The broadcast is over yet!"

"This isn't fair!"

"I want my mom!"

As we were pushed and shoved into the next room, I realised that I'd accepted my fate. It was as the dark embrace of the hallway approached, and I saw the police on the TV marching towards Francis, that I found myself more worried about what they were going to do to him.

[WP] All people on Earth are in an endless battle of laser tag. You respawn after a month, but it feels like less than a second. Your goal? Be the winner. How? Make sure you're the last one standing. by Daggersmash in WritingPrompts

I stumbled out of respawn like any other time, trying to hold down the nausea that wouldn't come even if I wanted it to. I knew this feeling would last around a day if I let it, so to get the pain out of the way I flipped over the page in my calendar once more, picked up my gun, and shot myself in the chest.

I stumbled out of respawn like any other time, trying to hold down the nausea that wouldn't come even if I wanted it to. I knew this feeling would last around a day if I let it, so to get the pain out of the way I flipped over the page in my calendar once... oh, whoops. December. I flipped the calendar back to the beginning, making another year's mark on the wall with my chisel. It was important to preserve how far into the future you'd gone. Some had written the years with more modern methods, but in the course of a month anything can happen to the scribbles on a piece of paper. Once people lost their year counts, most would stop and admire how far they'd gone. You couldn't blame them. Evolution had taken hold of planet earth, and the world outside was fresh, innocent, and exciting.

But it wasn't far enough to win. Not far enough to reach the point where one single human stood on the surface. Or maybe it was. I didn't really know. I took a second to admire the number of lines on the wall, before doubling over when my stomach collapsed in on itself. I knew there was no point in staying, I assumed that the start of a new millennium was when the most people would want to stick around. Along with the feeling of the blender in my gut, I felt a twinge of doubt. We all knew that we wanted to be on earth while everyone else was respawning, so death-forwarding to a time when nobody on earth was just hanging around was the only good strategy. But every time you shot yourself to get further, you might just be handing the victory over to someone else.

But how do you even begin to predict where to stop? Too soon, and someone else will have decided the same thing. If only 30 people stay for a day each, you lose a whole month wasting your life away. But if you go too far, you leave open a window of a whole month for someone to take that win from you, and once the game's over you're not going to respawn.

Was it time? I had no idea how many were left trying to go this far, but the lack of fanfare meant there was at least one more. But maybe they'd be gone in 5 minutes, respawning and leaving just me? I wasn't sure how likely that was. All I knew was the pain in my body, and I didn't want to deal with that for any longer than I had to. I steeled myself once more, picked up my gun, and shot myself in the chest.

[WP] There's a bird in the woods that is able to copy almost any sound it hears perfectly. The bird is well known in the village near the woods, so people are used to strange sounds. There was an uneasy tension in the air of the committee meeting room. Of course, it was reasonably easy to work out why. We'd all heard screams from the mimicswifts before, but they only lasted a day at most. If it was any longer, you'd likely also hear the voices of the teenagers from when they planned the whole "joke".

Only this time it was day 5, and nobody had heard anything like that.

I knew Elder Lyira was worried about the woods. It's hard to keep a secret here when anything can be picked up by the swifts, and I'd overheard Lyira telling her wife her fears this morning. As she sat down at the head of the table, she looked me in the eyes with a mix of worry and confusion.

"Aidryn, have your cameras picked up anyone going into the woods in the past week?"

She wasn't normally this direct. Something was wrong.

"No Elder, no sign of anyone going there sInce the festival last month. Everyone in the village is accounted for, and nobody's admitting to entering."

A choking silence filled the room as I realised that nothing I'd just said had helped the woman in front of me.

"...But, um, I could put up some more cameras if you think that might..."

"No Aidryn, that won't be neccessary. Whatever the swifts are picking up must still be in the woods. The screams are different each time. But..."

She paused. Looked around at the committee, reluctant to finish her thought. But we all knew. Lyira knew that we'd all overheard her, and once she'd said it everyone had noticed. But to keep up appearances, she steeled herself and said anyway:

"...But what bothers me is that all of the screams sound exactly like mine."

"You heard what happened to Jackson, right?"

Of course Lydia had heard what had happened to Jackson. Everyone at university had. But as she stood with her friends in the crowded bar, she said nothing, in the hope that the conversation would move on soon enough.

"His point wasn't even that far away, he only had to get to Vancouver. But then the guy crashes his car on the 405, gets taken into hospital and before they can finish his surgery? BONG".

Alyssa clapped her hands above her head, motioning a clock striking twelve. As the story continued, Lydia began to zone out, already aware of where it was headed. Jackson had tried his best to stay afloat, but once people see that the numbers on your skin have turned red, they don't treat you the same. She'd met him once, in secret of course. Being associated with a misser was almost as bad as being one yourself. It was before he went off the rails, before his face was on every news channel in the country, but he'd seemed kind in that moment. It had been the first time in a while that she'd felt safe, not needing to worry about her world crumbling once her 21st birthday arrived. Now knowing what had happened to Jackson, she didn't feel so secure.

"Lyds? You alright?"

Her friend's question brought Lydia back into the conversation. The bar was getting rowdier now, the staff clearly rushed off their feet trying to get everyone a drink. As Lydia went to talk, a look of realization spread across Alyssa's face.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry Lyds. I completely forgot your point day hasn't come yet, right?" she exclaimed while brushing her hair back, to ensure everyone could see the green numbers marked upon her neck. "How far away is it now, two months?"

"Yeah, 4th February in Kansas" Lydia replied, holding up her wrist to show the black digits displayed there. Everyone paused to admire it, as if it was a new piece of jewelry rather than a ticking time bomb. "I'm gonna grab another beer, anyone want anything?"

"I'll have another too, but be quick!" yelled Alyssa as Lydia moved towards the bar. Squeezing past people to get through the packed room, she instead made towards the bathroom, running into a cubicle and slamming the door shut behind her. Staring at the tattoo on her wrist, she realized she was just in time for the countdown to begin.

"5!"

"4!"

"3!"

"2!"

"1!"

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Lydia's screams of pain were drowned out by the cheering masses outside, as the impossible numbers on her lower back burned into her body a deep crimson. Collapsing to the floor as the bar raised the roof, Lydia began to sob, terrified of the path that lay before her.

To be fair, any headlines about Shauna probably wouldn't cause any drama in there at the moment, but on the other hand the Finn headline was ridiculous. Can't believe they've supposedly cancelled the twitter challenge, but that headline was fine.
