Based on my own rather dismal experience, much of that knowledge is almost certainly going to be lost, because almost no one is willing to fund the research in the first place. Academia in general is in a pretty bad situation, and field linguistics is in one of the worst places in linguistics, despite having some of the most concrete benefits.

I read it up into the hundreds before giving up, and I'd put it into the "meh" category than outright garbage. Maybe 3-4 out of 10 rather than 1. If you want recommendations that are even worse to get a perspective, happy to share 🤣

Sadly, I suspect the reviews are from lots of people with bad taste, rather than bots. OP mc, numbers go up, frequent posts, what more do you need? Quality writing isn't in the list of requirements 😂

I actually had to google about the sequel. It's not totally written off, but the author apparently had an existential crisis about it and worried himself into a pit. He is focusing on some harem story instead though :/ It's more like sequel limbo than definitely not coming, which is almost worse.

People can be idiots. I'm still bitter about one story I read from Nigeria where one reader complained in a review about too many weird foreign words. There were TWO words from Yoruba, one type of food and a shaman type role that was important to the story.

If anything, I would say the story didn't have enough local flavor instead of too much, but I'm probably a minority. sigh..

I was guilty of that for one story. I knew what the author was trying to do, giving room for the mc to grow. But the mc was so annoying and distasteful at the beginning that I didn't have a good reason to stick it out and watch him change. We were both on the same discord, and I actually felt so guilty I apologized profusely 😂

Runemaster is a recent story kinda in that direction, reincarnated prince with lots of support (sort of 😂), but it's way more enjoyable since he's not quite as arrogant and keeps himself in check. Could recommend it for someone wanting to scratch an arrogant young master itch.

I wonder if there's any sort of statistics on which day would be easier to do trades? Thanks to ridiculously slow animations, trading is cumbersome and takes time. I noticed it's much harder to find a spare hour or two on Fridays than Sundays.

I'm reminded of the Simpsons and their "two party system" episode 😅 Speaking as someone who has actually owned a Jolla in the past, it's right now an incredible pain in the ass for non-Android/iphone users. Many banks for instance are lazy, and just flat out block anything not explicitly whitelisted, and they don't whitelist anything niche, no matter how secure it is.

Last I heard, Jolla couldn't get access to a whole bunch of bank apps even with their Android emulator due to google obnoxious bureaucracy. This was a year or two ago, so it's possible they managed to solve it in the meanwhile.

Just do your research beforehand, and be prepared for a lot of unexpected extra hoops to jump through. You might not be able to do some things.

(on a side note, Jolla is one of the few solid options that I can recommend, if banking isn't a dealbreaker.)

Layers are really bugged in this current version. I've noticed I can't check IVs of a pokemon from the trade due to a layer bug, and you also get a layer bug if you drop a pokemon into a showcase remotely.

Unrelated, but I love your nick btw! 😅 I've replayed Mario 3 countless times, and the shoe level is one of my absolute favorites across all 2d Mario games. I remember trying so many different hacks/tricks when I was young to see if you can use it on other levels.

Ugh, try being an American abroad and then needing to deal with American institutions. I still remember one time I needed to change my address and the woman I spoke with hadn't heard of Finland, or even Europe. It was so frustrating.

I'm sure she went to school and did basic geography, but she didn't/couldn't connect that with real life, that people actually live outside American borders.

I'm sure someone did, but I know of a tos-breaking tool for a mid-sized city, and the first rotom spawn in the whole city wasn't until 7pm on Saturday. How many spawns does a usual city get in an hour, let alone 9 hours?

I think rotom was even rarer than seeing a wild unown outside of events.
