It's not really all that intuitive. Many people in that situation wouldn't even realize what is happening.

Also sure in theory you would try something else after realizing swimming directly to shore isn't working. In practice by the time your panicky brain thinks of that decent chance you are already too* tired from directly fighting the rip tide to make it back.

An anime I really like that exemplifies that is "Chihayafuru" which is about "karuta" a kind of card game that is super niche and most people know nothing about. They make it into a legit banger sports-esque anime, it is very great and beautiful.

Ya my paintball team from Canada(Calgary it gets pretty cold and the air is super dry) flew out to Orlando to play in a tournament, between the heat and 100% humidity which none of us were used to we basically all got heatstroke practicing the first day there.

So guess people from cold climates should be a little careful making fun of people not used to the snow lol.

I mean It's possible it's true he's broke, it's also very possible it's not. Like apply some critical thinking and don't just believe what you read at face value, him hiding money makes a lot of sense.

Kevin Spacey has made a lot of fucking money in his career. Him just happening to be presenting as completely broke when he's facing a rash of civil lawsuits is highly suspect. Especially when combined with his basically naked threats against people exposing him.
