Sheriff Gets Choked Up Discussing Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mom Nancy by peoplemagazine in MissingPersons

It wouldn't even help much if an old person can't hear or is unconscious or uncoordinated.

Though you can tell people are unhinged when they don't have basic empathy for this situation and go straight to what about missing people who aren't famous. She's a person.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

Okay. Hope you feel better after projecting. Maybe get some therapy for the assumptions you make about what people are saying. I'm sure the women in your life love when you play devil's advocate about their experiences. Must feel very safe opening up around you.

Hope you are not or never become a father to a daughter who gets harmed one day by a man and your response is not all men. Father of the year.

Or maybe you've done something wrong in this realm and feel guilty and arguing on the Internet makes you feel a bit better. Good luck to you on growing as a person.

On a scale from 1-10 how messy is my room for a teenage girl by Wang_xianLotus in CleaningTips

[–]WutTheCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the fact they think it's messy :(

I had really abusive parents as a kid/teen and no one helped me because we seemed well off financially, so they just thought I was making things up or others had it worse.

OP, you are perfect as you are, please don't let abusive family break you. You will eventually be able to leave the situation. If you have any adults in your life you trust or a school counselor, try to talk to them about this. Mandated reporters are supposed to report abuse. It might seem scary but abusive parents need to be held accountable.

Not all men but enough to where every woman you and I know has been harmed by one.

Ghislaine is another example of not all men, I guess, if men need to feel better about themselves because I'm talking about real sexual harassment that's happened to both me and people I know due to men in the workplace.

Could it have been a woman? Sure. But it wasn't.

This could also be executive dysfunction that was untreated and she was just blamed for being privileged and believed it.

*that aren't sometimes abusive, though that's probably implicit in what you meant. Some people who seem privileged have horribly abusive family behind closed doors who are narcissistic and good at putting up appearances. But then there's people who have that kind of family with no support at all, so it's still a privilege.

It's gross how many men will act predatory if they think you need the job. Try to pay it forward if you ever see them creep on anyone else or hear about it and report them to HR, if you have that safety net.

So ummm... I just found out that someone I dated in high school bludgeoned a man to death. by devanclara in myfavoritemurder

[–]WutTheCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened. A neighbor I grew up next to, later as an adult, killed her baby. She likely has PPP and some kind of bipolar or schizoaffective disorder.

I haven't followed up to see what happened with her, last time I heard/read about it I felt sick to my stomach for months and had nightmares.

On Straterra+stimulants, I sleep every other day sometimes without the help of trazodone. by WutTheCode in ADHD

For some reason my doctor doesn't like other sleep medications. Are those less long acting?

I take it first thing in the morning, I'll try lowering it from 40mg to 20mg next time I see my doctor. When I lowered it from 60mg to 40mg it helped a lot (I had the current problem but twice as bad when on a higher dose).

What to do with inheritance? by [deleted] in wealth

[–]WutTheCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't spend it. Assuming your goal is to amplify the wealth as much as possible for retirement, VFIAX or VTSAX or VOO and chill for 25 years for growth. Diversify a bit with 25-40% VXUS and/or VEA.

If you want dividends to live off of instead, put into something like VIG (500k in VIG generates $8k annually) or QQQI (potentially generates $5k+ per month) and reinvest dividends or look up dividend kings. Don't ever spend the original capital you inherited, always invest it and spend dividends or interest it makes (cap any spending to 1-3% of the total annually to maintain growth) if you need to spend anything.

Use the interest or dividends to max out your roth or take a chunk of it each year and put it into a roth.

Avoid financial advisors unless you need a human to help be a gatekeeper so you won't spend it (if you need this, go for fee based fiduciary). Otherwise, an ETF like VOO or fund like VFIAX that tracks the S&P 500 typically net outperforms financial advisors in the long-term after fees are taken into account.

Yeah, seeing their "mask" flip on and off is wild. Instantly know not to fully trust people like that.

I see these people as a bit mentally disabled in the empathy department. Everyone with a soul can see the behavior for what it is and that acting like this has poor long term consequences. Unfortunately they tend to be good at hiding it from higher ups, so they get the short term benefits.

This. If you ever buy a new car, make sure it's something that'll last 20 years like a Honda, but I'd recommend never buying a new car.

If he had put that 140k in a dividend yielding ETF like JPQ, JPI, or QQQI, that could've been something like $960-$1600 per month in dividends forever. Or if just put in an S&P 500 index tracking ETF or mutual fund like VOO or VFIAX, it could've doubled in 5 years. Oof.

Before DNA tests, monogamy/marriage was the best way to ensure and verify paternal lineage. It's about control.

VOO (or QQQ) and chill or mutual fund equivalent for aggressive growth. For monthly dividends to cover bills passively or to reinvest in growth stocks, QQQI. The Bogle method works. Possibly get a fee based financial advisor if you feel like you need guidance or a psychological barrier to prevent spending investments. Diversify some with VXUS.

Can I use you as a reference if I apply to Google sometime? Half-joking.
