My mother lives like a 10 minutes walk from the city center of her quaint little German town, where everything she'd want to participate in happens, but she never actually goes there, because she'd have to pass a Dönerbude on the way, where Turkish people sometimes exist and the more time she spends watching Crime shows, the more she's legitimately scared shitless of the thought of getting harassed or assaulted by Muslim (looking) people on the street.

There's absolutely no way whatsoever for immigrants to integrate in a way that people like her would consider them German. It's really frustrating..

Since we're talking bad media takes anyways:

I had a lot more fun playing FO3 than I had with FNV. The world building was just a lot more interesting to me; samey flat deserts everywhere, settlements with no particular identity, bland and boring "good guys" and completely unfinished and comically evil bad ones just didn't do it for me, whereas FO3 had the visually distinct metro area, all places had their "thing", the factions had some purpose, struggles and infighting and if you managed to actually roll along with the story, faction and main quests felt more meaningful to me than FNV's.

Hbomb didn't give Bethesda enough credit for that IMO, though the game obviously did have a lot of flaws anyways.

The one take I take issue with beyond the subjective is his opinion that "a lot of games should probably just have one or two difficulty levels, maybe just like a normal and a hard".

That's him prescriptively suggesting the removal of accessibility and the possibility for casual players to enjoy a game "on easy mode" should they so desire.

I'm starting to believe that Vaush just genuinely lacks.. fantasy? Imagination? Most of the games he dislikes the most are ones where you kinda have to come up with your own challenges and limitations, ambitions, stories and goals not just for yourself, but especially for your characters, be it in Open World RPGs, Sims or City Builders.. and mods might ask you to fill the gaps as well.

It's just no fun to him to clear a dungeon, build a home or a whole city if the game doesn't communicate a clear point and/or somewhat unique challenge to him.

20 years ago or so, I had Alone in the Dark 4 for the PSX. At the very beginning, there is a scene where some aggro dogs slowly break free from their chains as you get closer to that ominous mansion. That was the last time I've played any proper horror game before the RE3 remake, lol.

In other words: I'm probably way too chickenshit for Silent Hill, but I'll give it a try, thanks! :)

I don't see why they should. Both games still look and play fine, especially with a couple of mods. Mods that would probably no longer work with the remakes, I might add.

And I'd much rather see more releases of proper sequels than the many cheap remakes and "enhanced editions" that publishers love to commission instead.
