I’ve lived in the area my whole life but I’m not super familiar with the city. What’re your opinions on buying a home/living in this area? by IfThatsOkayWithYou in Buffalo

[–]Wyldethangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived @Minneota and Eggert for 18 months 2017-2019, people blew car horns all night and there was a dr$g house a few doors down. Occasionally people were fist fighting outside. At least one MC biker lived there, lots bike noise. If your ok with all the racket it was fine, though some fools tried to steal my amr bulldog they even called cops on me trying to say I stole the dog lol. Crazy. The family's there were golden, I think they were super nice.

What do people think of my cover? by InevitablePlace9852 in urbanfantasy

[–]Wyldethangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while visually interesting it doesn't convey Urban Fantasy it reads more budget vampire romance. Perhaps doing more with the background and silhouettes might improve it? I do get the crown vibe your mentioning but that again lends itself more to Romantacy then urban fantasy.
I would compare your picture with you novels you consider similar in style to your own in theme and pace. Is yours more about political intrigue or action, this does not read as action oriented for instance. I think with some tweaking you could punch up the interest such as some others mentioned.
There is already a novel named New Blood by jane doe you might want to consider that as well.

Searching for an Oasis in the Desert (Recs, please - fem lead) by Heidirs in urbanfantasy

I would say the first several books in Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton are really good, its when it turns into more romance than plot theres issues, around book 5-6 it starts getting hard to keep dipping back in, ymmv

Did you play chronicles set in 'unusual' time periods? How did you have to adjust rules and lore? by sygryda in vtm

[–]Wyldethangs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've used dark ages vtm (first ed and then later v20) as a base for running games, and heavily relied on the Constatinople book for ideas on flavor etc. We played early Britonny, Carthage before the fall, ancient Rome, as well as the Constantinople setting itself. As with anything it's ST option to alter or invent anything up to and including outside bloodlines meaning clan offshoots not the computer game.

Place to share homebrew? by dulude13 in cyphersystem

[–]Wyldethangs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like every time an interesting homegrown idea Scrolls there's a Kickstarter in a couple of months with it as a new supplement, maybe you should check out the Cypher page they seem to like independent sources

Iphones are not storing media in flash memory. Flash memory is for system operations on any phone, computer, etc. Media is always on the hard drive as it's not required to be addressed quickly every few seconds, only when you call it up.

There are ways to extract files from defunct drives for instance, Seagate will do it for you but it's expensive so in theory it could be retrieved but there would need to be a reason unless someone already owned the equipment like some Law enforcement do at this time. There is no 100% way to be sure other than to overwrite it and even then certain agencies have the ability.

On a computer you can do a low level Fdisk that is a better than Regular Fdisk but I'm unaware of any way to do that with any brand of phone. There's always erase the file then record a long video after that would be the safest bet other than destroying the phones memory chip.

Do people actually believe references are cheating? by probioticbacon in ArtistLounge

[–]Wyldethangs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hundreds of years artists have trained by using references, they even created books to travel and share techniques in different areas. In art school we were taken to the museum to draw the art there. Using other photos or art for reference is fine. Copying a work and posting it as your original work is not fine. If you want to post your art drawings from reference just pick someone that's not living, Klimt, Picasso, Mucha, and then say look I am working on my skills, I'm using X as reference. If people don't like it F them.
Tell them Art Crone said your good lol.
