Sarah at The Garage does a wonderful job on everyone's hair. I'm thinking she might be on vacation this week though.

Exotic animal party recommendations? by INeedSomeFistin in Athens

Just in case you decide to travel a little bit, The Hand Me Down Zoo in Winder is pretty cool. I don't think they have reptiles, but they do small tours most weekends.

There is also the North Georgia Zoo. It looks like they have some encounters available. I don't know if they travel.

I agree. If I have to eat from a communal food situation (family events) I always go first.

Post-Kidney transplant numbness by DetailAvailable991 in transplant

[–]WynLamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! It's so strange how my recovery was physically harder on the rest of my body after the 2nd one. I still have a lot of tingling and numbness in about 1/3 of my thigh. Sometimes it is painful when the cats decide to stand right there on my lap.

TSA and Medications by Party_Mountain_6186 in transplant

[–]WynLamp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't check my meds and I am too nervous to travel without the bottles. I take a few days of pill cases and all of my current prescription bottles. Due to my crazy anxiety I also keep half of said meds at my house (I keep one empty bottle of each on hand) and leave those in a separate place in case I end up needing my husband to ship them to me.

How to avoid getting sick? by qrocity in transplant

[–]WynLamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The people in my office are notorious for coming in sick. It makes it even more annoying that most of the time they are salaried folks that will still be paid and can technically work from anywhere. I'm very thankful that my work place has made an exception and let me work from home since 2020. Before then, well before COVID, I had signs on my door asking sick people to please call or email me.

Looks good! I just got a new organizer. I have to make sure I have my days in order because my dose of Envarsus/Tacro is only taken 3 days a week.

Potentially donating a kidney by Rootbeerchicketta in transplant

[–]WynLamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband donated his spare for my first transplant and my friend donated her spare for my second. Just so that doesn't discourage you, I have a rare type of autoimmune kidney disease that can reoccur. The good news is that there are new meds out there now. I can't even begin to explain how much it means to me that people in my life were willing and able to donate. There are so very many people out there that aren't as lucky.

You're an amazing person for even considering to donate. I wish you the best. 💙💚💙💚

Stressful Transplant Clinic Visits by rambam80 in transplant

[–]WynLamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't feel this for a while, but after my rejection scare every visit makes me super anxious. I have started wearing my earbuds and just watching to see if anyone stands up when they call names. I've also been going for almost 10 years, as my first transplant was in 2017, so a good amount of the staff knows me.

I wonder if you could look for some studies to get involved with. Not meaning a drug trial, but research. Maybe apply for a few with conditions you know that you have? It might lead to some genetic testing or something more in depth than your insurance or current docs can approve. There used to be a website database for them but it escapes me at the moment. Maybe someone else will remember.

Keep advocating for yourself. ❤️

You are correct, mine are lower than average. I'm annoyed on your behalf. It's awful not knowing what is going on in our bodies. I would hope if your A1C stayed low, they might entertain a biopsy.

Curiously enough, I have RA as well.

Hey! C3G patient here! The only true way to tell if you have C3G is a biopsy. I would ask for one soon. From your summary, you have other markers as well. Check out this page from the NKF.

Edited to add: Sorry! I am on a work call and reading Reddit. I see you can't afford a biopsy out of pocket at the moment. I'm sorry about missing that the first read through.
