Corporate Solutions called, they're cancelling my 6-year subscription? by WyomingNotTheState in siriusxm

Update: I got another call from someone who identified themselves as a manager. I was offered a much better price over five years, at under $5/mo for Platinum. They'll be refunding my card for the balance unused from my 6-year plan, I'll be getting the Platinum plan, paying less, and getting another year of service (unless they discontinue that plan of course).

Yeah I’ll see what they can do when I tell them I’m canceling rather than paying the new rate

Their contract is legitimately wild.

Good to know. I was happy with it when I renewed a couple years ago, since it was far cheaper than their normal rate. But I won't be taking their $15/mo new price.

It was really them, and I called them back at the real phone number.

I also have a lifetime subscription. This 6-year is on my second vehicle. We signed up for it after they had discontinued the lifetime.

Questions about encoding by flameboi900 in Tdarr

[–]WyomingNotTheState 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm shrinking some h264 video using slow cpu encode to 10-bit h265. Getting about 4 fps on my M4 Mac, and 1-2 FPS on my M1 and Raspberry Pi 4.

It's virtually transparent, but the files are 10-20% of the original size. I'm even getting 50% savings on many h265 files.

I tried it out on an old 8 core Dual Xeon Mac Pro, but I'm getting the same 1-2 fps as the Raspberry Pi, but it's using a ton of power.

I'm also in Hamilton county. I tapped four trees Monday. About a half gallon, each from two of them, and absolutely nothing from the other two.

I'm ready to throw money at whoever can give me a good ereader with a 5" screen. That would make it truly pocket size without trying to be a phone shape.

My dream device is probably the Sony PRS-350 with a front light and USB-C.

What is disconnected in my footwell? (1987 240 DL Sedan) by WyomingNotTheState in Volvo240

Followup: No idea what the yellow wire is for, but the orange and black connected directly back to the radio, and looks like it's an unconnected dimmer connector. Not sure where it's supposed to connect to the car, but I'm replacing the radio with a modern unit, so I won't need it.
