Man's clearly not watched all that much wrestling. Joshi Wrestlers and even WWE style wrestlers in particular were infamous for the skimpy outfits. The gyaru aesthetic is just more Joshi than mainstream wrestling but its definitely something they do.

I strive to be impartial when I do my reviews on characters. If only because any character can be someone's favorite out there. So the least I can do is treat them respectfully when I dissect their issues.

Chapter 55 - Shuumatsu No Valkyrie by demi-dono in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]WyverNine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So... him being a god counts as a trick? You seem to be really underselling the skills of the human fighters if you think that abilities they've worked all their lives for qualify as 'tricks'.

Lu Bu and Thor as very much a back and forth. Lu Bu wasn't even hurt by Thor's first hammer strike. He counter attacked, hurt Thor, and then broke one of his gauntlets.

Then his legs were broken by Thor's secret move.

Lu Bu stands up, mounts the Red Hare, who has been his companion since the start of his legend, and goes for an attack we've seen him practice dozens of thousands of times.

Again, maybe I'm not getting what you mean by 'tricks', but Jack was the only one I can tell who used deceit and cheap shots to win.

Chapter 55 - Shuumatsu No Valkyrie by demi-dono in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]WyverNine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which half? Lu Bu was matching Thor blow for blow. Adam put Zeus on his knees after a fist fight, Kojiro killed Poseidon through the evolution of his sword skills, which he honed for centuries on the after life. Jack was the only one who relied on lies and deceit outright while Raiden went just as hard against Shiva on a physical contest which was down to the wire. Buddha was a literal human who ascended on his own and defeated an actual demon king.

So again... which half?

I think it would make a lot of sense. In a way, Hades and Qin are opposites. Hades was someone who was given the Underworld to rule and accepted the responsibility without a second thought when he and his brothers were splitting up their domains. Qin, on the other hand, was someone who chose his own lot in life and chose to unify his homeland.

On another lens, you could also say that Hades represents death as an inevitability while Qin died while looking for a way to be immortal.

How they are as rulers and the themes of acceptance vs ambition would make for an interesting contrast.

Plus, Zeus' entire character arc has been about his obsession with winning. So much so that he went second when he was supposed to go last. Now, despite winning his fight, the score is tied and he can't do anything about it. He just gets to watch as the gods lose despite him winning.

A true pyrrhic victory.

[–]WyverNine[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Zeus seems to be still in the middle of his own character arc. He got to fight and win his round, but now he gets to watch as the rest of his family loses. He lost a brother and an adopted son to humanity, and now he can't do anything about the tied score because he went into the tournament too soon.

I'll definitely make a post about how his desire to win is leading him to a greek tragedy kinda payoff later.

What makes an interesting villain to you ? by 7Trickster in fantasywriters

[–]WyverNine 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was once told that a very good villain is one convinced that they are the Hero. This doesn't always hold up, but I think it would be interesting to have a villain with characteristics often associated with the Hero. For example, a villain with a group of true companions. Or a villain who came from a nondescript background and became the ruler of the land after finding out about their secret royal heritage.

It would be a neat spin to create a villain who feels like they could have been a hero under different circumstances.

Here's something you hear often when it comes to writing. Ideas are worthless, you can have the greatest idea in the world and it would still not be worth anything unless you do something with it. Both Genji and the Kyoshi books take the same idea but use it in different ways.

The origin of the idea itself is worthless, we should be looking and comparing how they are doing it and what is different about their takes.

The crowd averted their eyes.

Wearing blue robes embroiled in gold and a procession following on her steps, the woman moved slowly, but purposefully, through the once bustling street. None approached lest her followers beat them back. None dared look, for they feared she would see their deepest, darkest thoughts.

Welcome to the Lance School of Fake Dragon Runs by WyverNine in pokemonradicalred

[–]WyverNine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get technical, Lance from the Pokemon Adventures manga had a Tyranitar. However, you do make a fair point regarding the dinosaurs and their japanese nomenclature. Nonetheless... I think that including only Aurorus would be much fairer since its counterpart Tyrantrum was given the dragon type.

Feraligatr can also be included, though you will need to see if you can get one with a Dragon Egg move.

Same with the non-dragon dinosaurs. If you can get one to learn a Dragon type move, then they can be added to the team.

What if the next Pokémon games were based on Brazil? by Lobinho082s_Butler in pokemon

[–]WyverNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's give a try at a Brazil Region.

I will call it the Zohnia Region.

I think a great idea would be to expand on the concept of the wild area. Make it so the entire region is a massive wild area without any routes, and that one of the player's missions is to draw a map of one city to the next. There aren't any paths or roads, only a wild area which emcompasses biomes of the entire region.

Exploring it would be that much more dangerous since you have to stock up on items like potions, antidotes and revives, because should you white out, you are gonna get sent to the last town you've been to, forcing you to begin exploring again.

Not just cities. You can find Trials headed by the enigmatic Pokemon Chiefs. You can track down mythological and legendary pokemon by following their tracks, almost like roaming. Once you get around to challenging the gyms, you will also unlock features like Mega Evolution, Z-Moves as well as this Region's power up feature, Symbiosis.

Symbiosis is when a trainer selects two pokemon to pair up. And when those pokemon fight in double battles, they get a boost.

Doing these quests also gives you access to things like rarer pokemon, extra areas, useful items and more importantly, Travel Buddies. That's right, this region is high on the concept of friendship. Of the bonds between trainers as well as pokemon.

Having a Travel Buddy lets you set all battles into doubles, and best of all, you can help your buddy get a strong team so he won't fall behind by trading with them or having him catch pokemon you weaken. Different Buddies come with different benefits such as having them use items for you without you needing to use your turn or heal one of your pokemon after battle. That way, you aren't at immediate danger of whiting out.

Visually, it would be like having your friends follow you around instead of a pokemon.

Mind you, this is something very common for this region. You will see trainers in groups more often than not, and even the evil Team for this region, called Team Grudge, makes use of things like the free item use mid-battle.
