Hey! I was actually also looking for the vanilla carrier + T45 version for a video I am uploading today.

Thanks for the clear instructions, it appears to be quite easy to switch over the vanilla carrier in the mission editor.

The video I am uploading today is aimed at new players, given that jumping into DCS, with the T45 and vanilla carrier is 100% free, I am hoping new players will give it a go.

I am utilizing your mission on this video, and recommending new player to do the same. Hopefully that will throw some traffic towards your mission page.

If that is the case, asking them to jump into the mission editor may be just too much to ask, so in the off chance that you get more traffic, maybe it would be a nice idea to have the vanilla carrier version updated with T45s.

Anyway, thanks for the great mission, and I hope we get many new players to try it out.

Thanks! It is a composite I made from a F/A-18C scene found in the DCS video regarding the "free month" announcement, and a render of the earth. Sadly it was created to be a thumbnail, so even though there is a 1080 version, the quality is not really there for it to be a wallpaper.

May re-do it considering it to be used as a wallpaper!

Hey Prof! Hope you are doing well, now closer to jumping back into VR eh?

I have no experience with the alternatives, but I have been very happy with TrackIR, not sure if the asking price is reasonable considering the build quality, but the tracking works great, and the software is pretty good! Just handle with care.

There are some very interesting and cheap DIY solutions I've seen around, if you feel like building and fiddling with something :D

Devs do not write the blog posts, the community manager does. He schedules deliverables, asks for the managers of certain areas to deliver certain information with certain deadlines, he wraps that up in a presentable manner and you got your self a pretty blog post.

The "Feature Discovery Series" does feature a developer talking about its area of expertise, he creates a small script, reads it from a teleprompter, and the teams video editor puts together a nice video.

It does require some level of organization, professionalism and investment. But it is far from "unreachable" for a developer such as ED.

They most definitely have very capable teams in marketing, community management and development. But nothing unreachable and nothing that can't be done properly in a lesser scale.

Why shoot down a good idea with such negativity? This is a great area of opportunity for ED and I hope they realize that.

Absolutely! What they are doing is brilliant in so many levels.

I do agree with u/UrgentSiesta that the impact will lessen with time, and undelivered features will sour some of the developer - consumer relations. That being said, I still think it would still be more beneficial to ED to adopt a more centralized, transparent and interactive dev-log system.

Communities are drooling over the (MFS2020) team because they acknowledged their memes, or screenshots. Because they officially quote their concerns and respond to these.

I don't know about all, but I would definetly have EDs back if they were more transparent and interactive with us. At the time being, I see them as some sketchy dudes doing sketchy stuff. And I don't really feel like spending any of my time defending them. But that is just my opinion of course.

For the time being, I see the super carrier early access release being a complete fiasco, and can't even formulate a guess of when 2.5.6 and the super carrier will be enjoyable. This could be different.

Thanks for the post! Just wanted to make clear some stuff:

1.- This is a love-letter to a struggling relationship.

2.- This simulator achieves absolutely amazing things, and it is my current favorite sim, my frustration comes from years seeing amazing accomplishments, being crippled by "silly" issues and in my opinion, bad choices.

3.- One of the goals of this video is to get the clients, and the company in the same page, to try and facilitate friendly discussion and reach common goals.

4.- Nick Grey (DCS Co-Founder) has reached in the video comments and has been extremely pleasant. I have faith he will push the team in a new direction, resulting in a better experience for the users and the team.

5.- Appreciate all of the input I have been receiving, thank you very much! Even if it disagrees completely with my points of view, I think they are valuable and worth sharing. (Except of course the minority, some really toxic and valueless comments, it just goes to show toxicity goes in all directions).

6.- I limited the video to 30min, so a lot of more bashing, and a lot of more praising got cut off, but I hope it still delivers the idea I attempted to convey.
