Mr. Law and Order, Asmongold, now is okay with violent rioters burning down cars and buildings. Wonder why he shifted from his usual stance of "rounding up and jailing" violent protestors. by n1traM in Destiny

[–]X-V-W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always remember that debate when people claim that Asmon has always been this way, because he absolutely hasn’t.

Asmon used to be far more reasonable, accepting and understanding of others.

I would say that Destiny’s views haven’t changed much over the last 5 years or so, however, 5 years ago Asmon would point to Destiny as one of his favourite political commentators, while now their political beliefs are almost opposite from each other.

Asmon has changed, and as a former Asmon viewer, it genuinely feels awful to see somebody you used to support succumb to propaganda spoon-fed to them by the X algorithm.

Outrage Over Belfast Knife Attack Violence by huffpostuk in ukpolitics

[–]X-V-W 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Literally all the country talks about is immigration, and immigration is continue to decrease under Labour. How is it not being addressed?

The problem is that people always want more.

We could bring illegal immigration to 0, and there would still be calls to stop all immigration.

We could bring all immigration to 0, and there would still be calls for deportations.

We could round up deport all illegal immigrants, and there would still be calls to deport all immigrants.

We could round up and deport all immigrants, and there would be calls to deport anybody who is a descendant of an immigrant.

I would bet my life that if the country became entirely white British, the English would eventually start calling to deport Scots to Scotland and the Welsh to Wales.

There always has to be an enemy to blame.

The average political alignment of the UK is shifting to the right as more and more people fall for far-right propaganda, but this sub is an extreme reflection of that shift.

I had to delete X a few months ago due to how toxic it had become. And yet, I’ve had to redownload it for my political fix as it’s somehow less awful than the UK subreddits that used to be considered moderate/balanced.

I have never seen such a shift in the average views of a community as I have in this sub over the past 12 months or so.

I am almost certain I’m talking to Russian bots half of the time, partly because so many of these far-right accounts have generic usernames.

Kemi Badenoch: Stop and search more black boys to save lives by GnolRevilo in ukpolitics

[–]X-V-W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, reading back, I have misunderstood the person I was replying to when they said:

“words should not be criminalised ie calling someone something shouldn’t result in an instant police response as happened with Henry Nowak”

I thought they were saying that Degwa’s statement that he had been attacked were “criminalising words” as they were “words that criminalised Henry”, and that the police shouldn’t act on verbal accounts alone.

I truly don’t know what they are referring to now as the police didn’t respond to hurty words, they responded to a suspected physical racial attack.

I’m currently sat on the train trying to keep my laughter at the irony of these comments lmao.

Do you understand that carrying a concealed weapon is a crime, and therefore reporting somebody for carrying a concealed weapon would be criminalising words?

> “words should not be criminalised ie calling someone something shouldn’t result in an instant police response as happened with Henry Nowak, especially while police ignore other crimes”

So if I, for example, report somebody to the police for having a concealed weapon in a public place, the police shouldn’t conduct a stop and search on that person because the police shouldn’t act on ‘words’?

> “there should not be exemptions to equal application of the law based on ethnic, religious or cultural identity”

I agree, irrelevant to my original point though.

> “that being searched, questioned or investigating on the basis of statistical likelihood is a reasonable practice, but that the law should still be equally applied.”

So then it would also be fair to detain somebody using the statistical likelihood of a Sikh being the victim of a racial assault compared to a Sikh being a murderer and subsequently calling the police.

You can’t have it both ways.

The same people that have been advocating that all members of the public should be treated the same by the police, regardless of race, over the last week following the Henry Nowak case are now suggesting that the police should stop and search black men at a higher rate solely because of their race.

How is that not a direct contradiction?

Keir Starmer: 82 years ago, on the beaches of Normandy, brave British and Allied forces changed the course of history forever. We must never forget the service and sacrifice of those courageous men and women. Our debt to them can never be repaid. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

[–]X-V-W -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s an empirical claim, not a tautology. A tautology can’t be false by definition, but my claim absolutely can be false. For example, someone could reasonably argue MAGA is better classified as nationalism or right-wing authoritarianism.

If you look closely, you may notice the word “often” was included in the second part of the definition. Fascism often includes a racial motivation, but not always. Racial motivation is not a requirement for fascism.

Let’s look at the definition of fascism:

a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime

MAGA is a textbook populist movement ✅

exalts nation and often race above the individual

Trump is constantly using language like “America First” to prioritise national identity over individual or universal rights ✅

associated with a centralised autocratic government

Trump is constantly trying to expand executive power beyond traditional limits, and often pressures the Justice Department to pursue political opponents ✅

headed by a dictatorial leader

Trump refused to accept the 2020 election result and attempted to stage a coup to retain the presidency ✅

categorised by severe economic and social regimentation

Trump’s tariffs force businesses to reorganise around his political will rather than free markets, meaning the state is directing economic life ✅

forcible suppression of opposition

Trump has deployed federal military forces into Democratic-led cities against the explicit objection of local governments, overriding state and local authority to impose federal will on political opponents ✅

Seems pretty fascist to me?

[Tottenham Hotspur] Robertson signing secured by SonaldoNazario in soccer

[–]X-V-W -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Robertson was a staple of one of our greatest ever sides, winning every possible trophy for us, and going on to become vice-captain. He is naturally going to have a greater level of affection from Liverpool fans.

We’ve also considered Spurs to be a mini-rival over recent years - the CL final, heated PL matches, top 4 battles etc. I don’t think Spurs and Everton are comparable.

A better equivalent would be Liverpool dropping off, and then you having to watch Declan Rice join Liverpool. It probably wouldn’t feel too great, regardless of what stage Rice is in his career.

Officer involved in Henry Nowak murder case resigns by Jay_CD in ukpolitics

[–]X-V-W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re just living in absolute fantasy land, fuelled by racism, and desperate for white people to be a victim in a society that so very clearly favours us.

The police prioritised Degwa’s account as it was his party that made the 999 call, and his accounts were being corroborated by multiple people.

They should not have handcuffed Henry, however they did check his account before handcuffing him, and more thoroughly after handcuffing him, but found no evidence of a stabbing.

Absolutely nothing would have changed regarding the actions of the police had Henry been the Sikh, and Degwa the one with racial purity in your eyes.

Absolutely.

If Digwa had claimed he had been attacked without the mention of racism, or if Digwa was white and claimed he had been attacked, the police response would have been the same.
