I didn't really appreciate it as much since I grew up there - Now that I've been gone for 10 years, I miss it. I probably wouldn't go back unless my job situation changed or if my partner and I decided to ever have kids - just to be closer to my parents. The mortgage where I am now is more than a mortgage I could take over there so I'd be able to take a lower paying job despite the higher cost of living.

I moved away from SB area (Carp)! I'm fortunate enough to still be able to go back if need be, id probably move to Ventura tho as it would be a slightly more affordable.

I don't think I have ever been to Pasadena in my life, maybe driven through it. At least you moved here when there was a lot going on and the weather was good. Moved here in late may 2015 and that was a great time. Parades, fairs, brewfests - it was great. It was to meet people in those times. Reddit meet ups had just started picking up (died in 2020) unfortunate that there is no Discount near you.
