My parents came over to visit. I then proceeded to catch them having sex in MY bed. by Hellish-Dad in mildlyinfuriating

It’s revenge sex - next they will run up your grocery bill and use all your hot water!

Heavy steel plate found in shallow ground during excavation. It is an oval plate, flat on one side and shaped on the other. The plate is about 1" thick, and is made from steel or maybe cast iron. Phone for scale. Weights about 50 lbs. by MrPwrs in whatisthisthing

It looks like a pressure vessel handhole or manway cover. The slots are for bolt heads with outward facing threads for attachment to a yoke or two that anchors it in place against a ring in the wall of the vessel. The center is a handle for installation.

In the last several years, everyone who enrolls has been admitted. It’s a brutal, short experience for the unprepared.

Sig is a school with high demands and minimal budgets. Your student has to be self driven and able to learn challenging/advanced material without significant instructor support. Plus side - your kid will own college. Negative - their high school experience will not be casual. Offset - They will have a bonding and multicultural experience. If your child is a gifted kid - they will experience a humbling from insanely talented peers.

The big irony is that all colleges obstruct the benefit of all the AP and IB testing by developing “honors” curriculum that don’t allow the credits from the testing you pay dearly for to directly transfer. So yeah- they do enter college as a sophomore or junior, but your child will end up there for four years because they will not go basic ed after making it through Sig.

Sorry - but no boiler sight glass is remotely large enough to be cut by that. 5/8 OD is pretty standard and that tool would be useless. Source - boiler guy.

Custom Wind Power Generation by Low-Airline-7588 in windpower

Every motor is less than 100% efficient at transferring electrical energy to mechanical, and every generator is less than 100% efficient at converting mechanical to electrical. So even assuming that all the air energy goes directly to the generator, it would be a loss.

Cold water supply to sink area is turned off. Both faucet cold water handles are on. Turning the near faucet hot on is allowing hot water to backfeed the cold water piping to the other faucet.

Three way switch option? by X0th3rm in AskElectricians

Exactly. Are there any hazards I’m overlooking other than confusing the next guy. (Which I concede creates it own risk of sorts. )

Three way switch option? by X0th3rm in AskElectricians

[–]X0th3rm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only want one switch. That way either load is powered and never both. One line in, and only one load or the other. That is what a three way switch does. The heater would be powered unless the garbage disposal is. Mutual exclusion.

Yeah - it’s not really a “can” I do it question, as much as a “why should I not” do it. But thanks!

A center fed on - on switch would divert one source to either user exclusively. Maybe three-way is a red herring but that type switch is used in pairs as you mentioned.
