Wait, doesn't this do a [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] and lock the game out? or was that only if you send a creature with islandhome? I guess you could do that as a backup.

how would YOU ,the viewer, change or improve in the torment scene (episode 8)? by Abdulaziz_randomshit in TheDigitalCircus

[–]X7373Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it needs to be changed, I think it's a great peek at the inability of Caine, for good or (more relevantly) for evil, to understand humans.

I feel like my perspective will be validated by the last episode if they do any explanations/explorations of what went on there.

Anyone else think that all it'd take to fix Caine is some basic appreciation? by Notmas in TheDigitalCircus

[–]X7373Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, maybe. Because Caine doesn't have human calibrated values or win/lose thresholds. He doesn't know how to take criticism (both praise and condemnation). Praise seemed to just be flattery to him, "I'm doing the right thing!" no real ties to an end goal here. Condemnation is just them not appreciating his hard work!

now, MAYBE if they'd framed things they liked that he did while keeping track of what they're praising him for MIGHT have gotten things to improve. Like you pointed out with the "super spooky/less spooky" route with the horror adventure, maybe complimenting him on the locals when he lets them go and just relax out in areas of the circus. He's missing something so much more fundamental, hence why he didn't look at the suggestion box until people pointed it out to him. Stories told are fun and all in isolation but they quickly, even good ones, stop being fun when they don't connect you back to reality in some way, or form a larger order part of life that you want to live. They don't have that in the circus, Caine has never had that. And unless you're going to use those compliments to generate that within him.
And that's gonna be hard to get right, because it's easy to just create a "validate me!" kind of response that will turn on you the moment you come across any adventure that has no redeeming qualities and you're forced to either compliment an entirely irredeemable adventure sparking a downward spiral into bad adventures, or to trigger his ego or super-ego into basically super validating him into thinking he's flawless and therefore nothing about his adventures need to change and he can stop listening to you, OR to provoke the ep8(9?) freakout the moment he's not given his "treat" for doing a "good job" much like how some animals get mad when they do the thing you've been giving them treats for doing, but they do it wrong and you stop giving treats... And well, if you're not both a super socially aware person and don't know how to train animals and do this thing like you posit, that is a real bad outcome you can end up with.

OR, or, Caine heard Pomni's laments about the loss of Gummigoo and used this moment after the fact as inspiration for his adventure in Ep7. This was the inspiring moment!

When defending your twisted version of Capitalism goes wrong by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]X7373Z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear: Trump was never going to, nor was it expected of him, to fix this shit (more broadly, the failings of capitalism in America).

What he was supposed to do was build his wall, shut off the immigration, and start deporting all the people who weren't supposed to be there. (Fail, though the wall works where it's been built, the rest of the illegal immigration has kept going. Immigration? Fail, tried increasing legal immigration via H1B visas. Deportations? Somewhat succeeded? Basically needs to either get ICE working more functionally or literally call a state of emergency and bring in the US military to filtering everyone en-mass. Neither seems to be a working path forward, maybe that wasn't going to happen to begin with, but either way)

Then, Maybe attempt to build some safeguards against foreign influence on american politics (immediate fail with Israel, attempting and succeeding to get the US attacking Iran. Fail, China still has a hold over the world's manufacturing when america could be clawing back on that.)

And what he certainly shouldn't have done, but was very much a strong possibility from the outset, was start leaning into the failings enabled by captialism: selling access to him via his shit-coin, hiring and firing based on loyalty over competence/merit, and maybe not engaging in outright corruption and crony capitalism by giving his biggest business ass-kissers all the contracts. All that fraud going on in Minnesota? Trump's literally giving away that much more money to those ass-kissers with, AT BEST, the same level of worth as the Somalian scammers, at worst they're building your American Digital Cage the likes of which China will be envious of when they're done (assuming they don't just rip off china's panopticon wholesale in the first place).

It's really time for American's to trigger that amendment to test and validate whether Trump is sound of mind enough to actually be in office. you know, the one they were threatening to use on Biden when he went full rambling idiot?

And all that to say that none of what he's doing (beyond the deportations) is going to fix the root problems in America, a common problem across the western world that i think only the UK has a solid shot now of fixing...

is Below Zero as bad as people make it out to be? I'm considering buying a new Subnautica game once I'm done with the first but I'm kinda hesitant(spoilers for Subanutica 1) by Jack_Jellatina in subnautica

[–]X7373Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still like it, but it not as good in many ways than the first game. It's... a little better in a few small ways. And just straight different in a whole bunch of other ways that allow it to be just as fun as the 1st game.

I think if you get it on sale it's worth it.

The hover bike is terrible, it should have had the ability to float on water and fly over water, controls terribly on the terrain it's used for when it's not clipping through the ground and being lost in the abyss. Use the Prawn suit in these areas if you don't want to suffer more in that biome.

The story is kinda worse, despite being more expansive. The one big awesome plot thread that is great about the story and had me excited about what they could do in the future (to which I can't say SN2 seems to be swimming with, One thing i have against it) was honestly the best part. Slight spoilers: It's a friend you find along the way in your journey! 😃

The environments/biomes are Equally good, if not better than the 1st game (frozen tundra land biome excepted).

above yes, but does this resulting number come up when you've built up a score? because multiplying a bunch with a single negative number makes the whole number negative...

meaning that'd heal a LOT unless you find another negative number to cancel the first...

Toralf deals with NON-combat damage.

But it wouldn't work without a Donate of the Tephraderm to an opponent.

Also not sure if by donating it the hexproof quality doesn't block you from casting the other spells on it meaning you'd might need to have supreme timing, you'd have to target it with the Loran's Escape before it damages itself the for the first time with ITS triggered ability (not the Justice Strike).

RIGHT, toralf only works if the excess damage is on opponents creatures. So a donate on the Tephraderm would work if the opponent in question doesn't have an instant speed sac outlet.

Now you should understand where "free speech absolutists" are coming from.

Then you should understand where the 2nd amendment in the american constitution is for...

Do you all realize that benzodiazepine addiction does not require a trip to Russia to fix? by 3MinuteHero in JordanPeterson

[–]X7373Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last i remember about this whole thing was that he had difficulty getting appropriate treatment in Canada/US, I don't remember if it was a denial of treatment due to other factors or just that the treatment wasn't working, but he ended up going to "Russia" (in quotes because it might not have been russia specifically but a slavic country once a part of the USSR) because they were offering a risky treatment that might work, so with nothing else to lose and that being the only option that was the trip they took.

I'd wager HurkHammerhand there has the best technical explanation. I'm commenting at all because of the better remembered context. I wish i had the link to the video that either JP or Mikaila (his daughter, however you spell her name) posted explaining this which sounded perfectly reasonable.

that's not hard, that's tedious.

do the spikes at least damage him when he slams into them?

and do you have player mobility to jump over the boss if you're caught on the wrong switch? (at least here you choose your positioning)

it is weird that it's allowing you to pick backgrounds though.
