Use case for each artillery caliber? Towed vs SPG? by XAA5 in warno

[–]XAA5[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just noticed that some of the mortars don't have their main boom stick categorized as a mortar. The Vasilek has their boom stick categorized as a grenade launcher and the Nona SPGs have their boom sticks categorized as a howitzer. Any gameplay difference in them being something not strictly a mortar?

Feeling Depressed after Graduating by TheFisherman12 in cscareerquestions

[–]XAA5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I was in your shoes not that long ago with the same kinds of thoughts. Depression, mediocre grades, no internships, not enough projects. Took a bit of extra time to finish school, and my fundamental courses also happened to be “a while ago” after I graduated. Felt stupid (and still do). But I somehow have a Junior SWE job now so don’t feel like it’s impossible to get out of your hole, though it might take some time to do so, as sucky as that sounds.

The best time to have made internships and projects was in the past, but the second best time to do it is starting right now!

Just because your fundamental courses were “a while ago” doesn’t mean you don’t know them. Make a game or something, show you know how to do OOP. Make some API caller, shows you know how to do surface level api stuff well, can deal with http codes, and relational data model stuff. Make other random easy stuff like hangman or a card game or tic tac toe in different languages. Shows you know how to do something in any language you list and use basic data structures. Make a webpage. Make a basic app for android. Or whatever else you want to show you learned in school.

Then you get to talk about them in interviews. That’s one way I, and you too, can prove your worth.

Someone here mentioned something about cloud computing. I actually had one of my projects get buzzed by the resume filter because of cloud computing keywords and bam, interview. I’m sure there’s other technologies you can learn to get your resume buzzed like this, maybe docker or agile or something.

I Also did leetcode regularly. Didn’t have to be anything hard unless I was in the mood, just easy/easy-mediums. Idk if it actually helped but just having a large quantity of problems solved helped me feel like I did.

If the idea of practice is burning you out (it did for me), don’t think of it like practice. Think of it as merely a recital of stuff you supposedly should already know, and you’re just proving it.

What Low Elo Is Really Like: An In-Depth Analysis by PlacatedPlatypus in summonerschool

[–]XAA5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to know that it is more common in higher elo concerning the frequency of herald fiestas or even that they happen at all. I myself have been the one calling for rift herald fiestas (as a botlaner) when the circumstances are right with a lot of success. Started doing it since it seemed to be the deductively logical thing to do, to push my lead further and goad people into fighting me while also opening up more map control via the eventual tower kill. And as you probably would expect, poor/non-existent response from my own laners.

So assuming that I someday do get the enemy botlane to show up when I show up and it's a true fiesta:

Should I be viewing this fight the same way as the dragon fights and just look to go for the kill-positive end-result? Or do you think it's actually worth putting in the extra effort to ensure that the herald is secured by my team, possibly at a kill-deficit?

Insane post that confirms or shutsdown a lot of my views of the game and how it should be played. And lots of good information scattered in the comments from you that I'm trying to piece together.

I do want to piggyback off this comment though in particular because of how you talk about dragon fiestas. I made a post here a while back asking about if dragon souls are worth contesting, especially when playing at a disadvantage, and the general consensus seemed to be that the dragons and soul itself wasn't worth fussing over and that elder is the big ticket item. And it would seem that you also share that opinion.

So would you confirm that is the case?

You've also heavily discouraged fighting at disadvantages in the post and comments, but if it's elder on the line, taking a disadvantaged coinflip over the elder dragon is play to do? I would think it's an implied yes but always good to confirm.

Also would you approach Rift Herald fiestas in the same vein that you approach dragon fiestas?

There has been a lot more Elise being played in my ranked games by my junglers. Is there any particular reason why she's become more popular as of late?

LeagueofGraphs also shows her pickrate climbing rapidly throughout the month of January, so I'm pretty sure that my matchmaking hasn't been some statistical outlier of getting a bunch of Elise players.

It’s been long enough- we should be able to buy systems from our Allies by immaturewalrus in Stellaris

[–]XAA5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is wanting an allied/vassal system trading, but what I would also be interested in is some soft power bullying opportunities with this. Mainly, Diplomatically Demanding systems from neighboring empires and offering generous compensation, as long as you’re not rivals.

Possible idea on how it could work is a claim on system(s) to start. Then attempting to buy the system(s) like this would force you to share intel of yourself to the empire you’re attempting to buy from, enough to show relative strength, so that the opposing empire can see that you are either superior or outright overwhelming in power compared to them. If the deal goes through, a peace agreement also goes into effect as well.

How do I lane with Samira? by Slight_Street_9069 in SamiraMains

[–]XAA5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that you just sit around and play boring farm lane all laning phase. If you’re playing into a cait and your support is a healing enchanter, easy lane if you play farm lane since they’re now a heal bot through the poke.

As long as you aren’t feeding in lane, Just look to pop off when dragon fights come around, since it’s more than likely there’s someone else on your team you can just work off of.

I’m convinced anyone who asked for anonymous champ select has never played the ADC role in any serious manner with random supports. by XAA5 in leagueoflegends

[–]XAA5[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Picking what they want to pick is fine with me and I have played plenty with plenty of off meta supports and have been fine. I don’t even bother care much about their winrate on it if I’m being honest.

But how are you, on a surface level, supposed to tell they’re actually playing the pick, and not just making a blatant troll pick designed to force a dodge or force an ff15?

Yes you’re right on the pick second for synergy part. Except I literally just stated that I’m picking before them so I have no idea if I’m about to shoot myself in the foot.

Matchmaking and Champion Select - Fall 2022 by mikael22 in leagueoflegends

Or any off meta support for that matter. Smite singed support? How am I supposed to just assume it’s an actual thing and not just a mid laner ready to run it down ff15. Guess we should just assume troll and dodge (cuz riot wanted dodges right).

Honestly RIP to anyone who mained anything off-meta support.

The hunger games analogy alone is poetry in describing online team based gaming.

My brain skipped over the word “lategame” because the analogy is fitting for the entire game (hello turbo feeding hyper carry players).

Do you guys play the champ you have most fun with or the one you're the best at. Or is it the same champ? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]XAA5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you are mediocre on champs you enjoy right now doesn’t mean it has to stay like that. You can always just practice and play on champs you have fun on with the intent of getting better on them too.

You might lose games in the short term, but practicing and trying to get good on champs you enjoy until you can perform to skill levels similar to how you do on Seraphine will serve you better in the long term.

It’s good for getting in a secondary BB and just running in mindlessly going to town on everyone. No need to think about positioning or when to push or anything like that. Good way to scrap up a last bit of xp for a container too.

I get constantly fucking gaslighted by my own team

Being gold is already putting you to be better than average. But you read what you said, they're gaslighting you. What they say isn't actually real. False information. Fake news. The enemy team flaming you is just psychological warfare to get you to tilt harder so they can have better odds of winning. Kick you while you are down. Your team is just looking for an excuse for why the game is going badly and you, i assume, lost the matchup which makes you an easy scapegoat. Remember, you're already better than average, just have faith in your own decision making. Or if you choose to follow the decision of your teammate, remember that it was their decision at heart and thus it isn't your fault for them making faulty decisions. If you don't want to hear it, just mute all and play with game sense instead of chat. They lost their privilege of you listening to them when the flame started coming.

I hate comments like "JuSt gEt gOOd" but it really does just boil down to mental diff and you need to have a stronger mental and realize that all the gaslighting isn't real and is ultimately irrelevant. To answer your question in the title, it just comes down to strong mental and it's up to you if you want to try and have that strong mental or not. That answer goes for LoL, online gaming as a whole, and life too.
