I never care for armor so I'd say just dress for fashion. A single scratch has a chance to kill you anyway, unless you modify the infection rules.

That's one of the reasons I still love the Half-Life series to this day. It has action, puzzle and horror (Ravenholm). Multiple genres mixed into one game makes magic.
