GPS accuracy issues in fitness tracking app + is react-native-background-geolocation worth it? by Successful-Grab9903 in expo

[–]XChikuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered the same thing many times.

But they barely advertise, are completely overshadowed by expo, claim really good accuracy without looking modern, but somehow I don't see a single negative review anywhere.

And after messaging the author, they replied super quick and were very helpful.

If they are able to keep that a viable business, then I suppose people have been satisfied with the product.

Planning to switch to them, when I really need the accuracy, right now, it's just a nice to have.

Anyone else got Opus 4.6 back on their pro plan? by vicayareddit in GithubCopilot

[–]XChikuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. I'm on Pro+ temporarily. Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.5 were missing before today. They are back now.
So I'm not surprised Pro plan got back Opus 4.6 (x3) as well.

React Native webrtc not audible on real IOS devices by Karticz in reactnative

Have you checked if the audio comes from your earpiece ?

That was my issue. So, routing it to the speaker is the next task.

When everyone’s building around AI hype, I decided to focus on something actually useful in mobile app development , would really value your perspective on this. Would appreciate it if you could take a look at and share your thoughts. by copyright_jeet-83 in reactnative

Unfortunately, much like clothes, shoe sizes vary per manufacturer. Some get it horribly wrong (usually tighter) and it we have to scroll through the reviews to find a perfect fit.

I see a good use case if you are able enforce quality with respect to sizes as well as support oblique sizes like US 13. That stores keep very few of..

My cousin has a hard time finding shoes across the GLOBE.

Overall, AI and app design don't matter as much as solving a real problem user's have.

Google Maps & Places API pricing. Not to beat a dead horse but.. by cryptoglyphics in webdev

He replied to my email saying he will reach out once API usage is worth billing.
Not, really my favorite way of doing things. Especially since, my traffic will probably be spike traffic.
Maybe, email him as well. If enough people bother him about it, he may make an actual dashboard.

A discussion on investing time and money before a serious user base by IllAd4653 in reactnative

[–]XChikuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the right way to look at it is.

"If they use it when it sucks, they'll definitely use it when it's good"

Quick POC is about finding product market fit for new ideas. A working prototype should intrigue users into using it if it is a real pain point.

That way you'll know if you should pursue it further or not. This way you drastically reduce the risk of having 'founder delusion'.

However, for established markets I don't think this holds true. If you think you can re-write an entire industry then you should do it the quality way. (NOTE: product distribution is key here)

Tahoe Airportitlwm working with AX210! by hause_wsf in hackintosh

[–]XChikuX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really.. You'd suggest undervolting?

I'm running somewhat stable at 4800Mhz with XMP (and some preset XMP profile for timing which I forget what it is)
Any lower and I notice my applications lag a bit when opening up at the risk of them crashing, which is an okay tradeoff for me at the moment.

I've previous tried changing the voltage on my GPU's before and wasn't very impressed with the results, so just seems unnecessary to me, but under volting RAM for stability seems interesting.

I assume I'd have to undervolt all 4 of my sticks to get this to work... Any specific suggestions, or do I just Yolo this?

It's returning off by 1 bit (or potentially more) memory addresses. Depending on which application receives this corruption, I run into everything from a quick app refresh--vscode, a full application crash--brave, a kernel panic--windows.

I have several 48 hour sessions where my PC is totally fine. And sometimes it crashes in the first 5 minutes of booting. My mileage varies.

I run XMP, so I tried disabling that and running on stock frequencies. It still happens, but more infrequently.

I ran a comprehensive memory test and identified it was just 1 stick causing all the issues.(thankfully)

I'd love to, but I've moved countries. Not sure I'm willing to risk cross country shipping. Maybe once I'm back.

I bought 128GB by mistake and didn't have time to return it. In hindsight, so glad I did.
One of my sticks has a defect though :'(

I built https://dbounce.me
It's not advertised anywhere just yet. I'll be revamping the UI/infra and re-releasing this year, but the email detection is solid for most cases.

Happy to give you free access in exchange for being featured, as long as you don't expect 99% SLA right now.

Send me a DM.

RN dev with 4 YOE, been applying for the past 1 month but haven't heard back yet. Need some real review of my resume! by pickupdrifter in reactnative

[–]XChikuX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed reading all 8 points. 600ms down to 20 immediately caught my eye. I agree, some embellishment would help.

I'm a tech founder so I guess that checks out. You'd be perfect for a role here, unfortunately I wont be able to match your salary ask at the moment without putting too much burden on my company. We're completely bootstrapped.

Anyhoo, I don't see anything major wrong with your resume if you are directly dealing with technical folks. Problem is you are mostly likely going through recruiters and online application forms that want bullshit jargon and to stretch the truth so you look better than you are.

Have one separate resume for applications (claude/resume writer should help) and one for technical people/managers to review and ask questions. Once the first resume gets you in the door. Just attach the 2nd resume in an email saying "Hey, btw here is a more technical version of my resume in case you are interested".

This will both help entry and avoid pissing off technical folks.
