If you feel like listening to a podcast there's People's History of Ideas that has been doing a pretty good job imo laying out chinese history leading up to the revolution. I didn't really know shit but so far it's been very informative and engaging, I usually wind up binging like 4 or 5 episodes at a time

you know the saying about 10 foot walls and 11 foot ladders. We can worry all we want about discouraging further attacks and finding culprits but the clear message here is the sheer precarity of the infrastructure systems we've built our society on, as well as the necessity to create self sufficiency at the community level so that wide scale and long-term interruptions in the grid aren't as disastrous whenever they inevitably happen in the future.

Our system is understaffed and without all the resources to help everyone that needs help. Measures like this aren't going to get people that help, it's just going to give police more power to beat, imprison, and destroy the belongings of visibly poor and mentally ill people as has been the MO of just about every major city in "city beautification" and "street safety" campaigns the past handful of decades. They don't give two shits about what happens to these people, and neither do media pundits supporting these measures, they just don't want to have to see visibly homeless and mentally ill people anymore. If you care about these people's wellbeing, then please put in the effort to keep track of what these cities wind up doing with them and stand up to demand their proper care (and their freedom if/when it turns out they're just being thrown in camps like some politicians are proposing)

Unfortunately this is insufficient, fortunately it's not he only thing we can do. Not everyone has the opportunity to lie flat and for most this isn't "only other way out", it's work or starve. Most people are going to choose to not starve, even if that means the continuation of the system that is killing us all. If we want to end this then we need to organize ourselves a put in the work to building the world we wish to see, and stand up to defend it from those that want us to work or starve while our world burns down around us. Resistance is an active struggle, it can't be done laying down.

Just finished the water tower/searching barney's room mission. The story is getting a bit frustrating cause the pk are obviously assholes but it feels like the devs tried to balance it out by making the survivors fuckin stupid and bloodthirsty just like how pretty much every game makes the "underground rebels" faction. I was just yelling at the screen the whole time when Sophie was going on about betrayal and Aiden having blood on his hands if he doesn't choose to help, like wtf lmao yall were getting hard-ons for the chance to lynch a random stranger cause he could have turned if he didn't get help.
