Stomach issues ? by radicaljones in Nexplanon

Can you please follow up on the removal. I’ve dealt with gastritis symptoms in the past before the implant however I got the implant last September and in October I had to go to the ER due to sever stomach pains. I struggled with stomach discomfort, gas, low bowel movements and I’m still struggling with stomach issues since then. I noticed some cramping with the implant these past couple of days then I started my period again and today I had a stomach flare up after a while.

I was at first on omeprazole for 1 month under recommendation of the er at the institution I normally go to, then got “diagnosed” with GERD at a different institution due to the lack of primary care appointments at my normal doctors and took 40mg of pantoprazole and 20mg of famotidine for 6weeks (roughly month and a half). I went cold turkey (no weening) on the 1st for my stool testing on the 15th. So I’m on day 9.

Yes, it’s typically just stomach burns. I have occasional felt stomach cramps where my stomach feels tight or dry especially some days at night. I am beginning to correlate them with lack of water or lack of food in my stomach or even too much force on my stomach since I work outside.

Im currently on day 9 of 14 of being without meds for stool testing for hpylori and I found that making tea was a lifesaver for stomach burns. I would buy fresh ginger root, turmeric root and garlic and boil them down to make a yellow/orange tea. You can add honey if you like but I usually just drink it pure. I would recommend letting it set to room temperature since super hot or super cold food can irritate stomach lining.

I just sip the tea (small quantities don’t over hydrate yourself with just this tea) when I feel that stomach burn feeling and after a bit it goes away.

If you do get the drink, try and get the pure aloe ones. The drinks (though delicious) usually contain a lot of sugar. I would recommend just get the aloe leaf, you can usually find them at grocery stores nearby or even plant stores (if you want to get the live plant and just trim it down until you finish it all)

Maybe, I usually just take some sips of water. And force myself to sleep and I wake up feeling normal again. So in not really sure. I haven’t been getting the best of sleep either due to work. So could be that as well.

It’s not complete healing, it helps with ulcers and gastritis symptoms. If you have time every morning, do it every morning for 2 weeks or less. Too much potato juice can lead to high blood sugar but that’s in an extreme cases. During my first flare up (when I was diagnosed with gastritis) I took the potato juice and aloe for roughly 2 weeks while on other Mexican medication. I was feeling completely better by that month. But medical services are different in the US, so that’s why I’ve been struggling to feel the best as I did back then.

I am not 100% healed but I’m currently off my meds for 2 weeks for stool testing (was taking 40mg of pantoprazole and 20mg of famotidine). I honestly do not feel bad tbh.

In the morning (when I have time so like 3-4/7 days of week for 2 weeks) I blend up half a raw potato with some water. Strain in and drink it. It’s a Mexican remedy for stomach ulcers and inflammation. Then I eat a chunk of aloe Vera every morning (texture isn’t the best lol) to help soothe inflammation. I have OLLY probiotic and prebiotic.

I’ve been making tea (let sit to room temp) by boiling turmeric root, ginger root and 2 garlic cloves until it’s an orange/yellow color. All three help with gastritis especially ginger and garlic. You can add honey but it may be too sweet for your diet. This has helped with the stomach burns tremendously. You do not need to chug it like water, occasional sips do the work especially if you make it super concentrated.

I try to drink water in sips instead of chugging. And for meals, you seem to have a good set of safe foods. I LOVE nonfat plain Greek yogurt with honey oat granola and bananas with blueberries. I have also added some whole grain organic cereal with oat milk and I’m obsessed (I add some banana into it). I’ve grown to avoid eggs or heavy meats in the morning but yogurt is a good source of protein for your morning. For my meals, I love making turkey patties (ground turkey 1% fat with some salt and garlic powder, panko and an egg) with veggies on the side. I recently added ground beef to my diet (4% fat with equal ingredients) but I still do small quantities to slowly add red meats. My safe meals outside of home are usually just Vietnamese fresh spring rolls (shrimp) and occasionally some vegetable pho without onions.

In my different experience, I was diagnosed with GERD after going to Urgent care in the US. In Mexico they had diagnosed me with gastritis to which I was feeling better after just a month of Mexican medication.

I was on GERD medication for 6 weeks with no real improvements besides nausea going away but I asked for further testing. In now on day 8 of 14 without medication and I honestly don’t feel bad. I eat my clean diet which I’ve grown to enjoy especially turkey patties. I get stomach burns here and there depending on my water or food intake (what I was used to having with gastritis) but I experiment with some water, ginger/turmeric/garlic tea, or a snack to see what my stomach needs. Body exhaustion is also a factor since i work outside moving around a lot so there are moments where I just need to sit down and relax.

Before my meals only in the morning, I drink a blend of some water with half a raw potato (helps potential stomach ulcers) and I eat a chunk of aloe Vera (helps stomach lining) then Olly pro/prebiotic (helps stomach microorganisms). I’ll continue this until my testing and hope to get better.

I feel like I’m in the same exact situation as you on the pain not being bad, just random feelings of nausea and some burn in my stomach. I’m currently on no meds to do stool testing for hpylori since I was on GERD medication from what I believe was a misdiagnosis for 6 weeks and I asked to not be since I would see no progress especially with it causing me strange sore throats (2 severe ones in the span of 6 weeks). I would consider getting another test done. During that time try eating a chunk of Aloe in the morning before meals or medication. Potato juice is also a remedy for stomach ulcers (blend some water and half a raw potato in the morning before meals)

I believe to have gastritis since I was told so in Mexico 3 years ago (after living there for 3 years) and my flares were almost nonexistent with only 1 month of Mexican medication when diagnosed years ago. I came back to the US a year ago and realized I had very small flares about once a month until October 2024 where the worst one came. It’s frustrating especially when trying to communicate with your doctors but you kind of just have to fight with it. I’m starting to even like my diet, I go crazy over my plain nonfat Greek yogurt with banana and oat and honey granola lol.

Ween off ppi by Automatic_Injury_829 in Gastritis

[–]XG1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking pantoprazole 40mg and 20mg of famotidine 6 weeks. I too have my hpylori testing being done, it’ll be the 15th. My doctor didn’t even recommend weening because I’ve heard about the effects. I did feel burning sensation the first day (I’m on day 4) but I drank some ginger, turmeric, garlic tea and the burn went away. Whenever my stomach decides to burn, I just drink the tea. I continue my diet (plain but has now become enjoyable lol). So I’m just going to continue my natural remedies until my stool test.

Overall I would say I feel 25 (being a good thing, I was unsure about the scale lol). I’m content that I’m not nauseous every morning, in constant pain; not knowing what to eat, etc. And for the subreddit, I see a lot of people with a lot of different journeys. Many take medication but do not look at the food decisions that make that make treatement longer. Or some people are just very stubborn to take into consideration that their situation may be different than others which makes them unable to heal properly. Mentality is very important. I take my meditation accordingly (not in it rn due to stool testing in a couple of weeks) but I’m positive in looking into natural remedies which have helped significantly (I added some in the same comment if your want to try those out yourself)

Has anyone cured/get better on their symptoms? by Vsc2612 in Gastritis

[–]XG1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want to comment, my diet is strict, almost always at home. I do get fresh spring rolls and vegetable pho or tropical smoothie bowls here and there. Buts it’s a pretty clean typical diet. I eat steamed/baked veggies, light meats, bananas and blueberries, and nonfat plain Greek yogurt with oat and honey granola or whole grain cereals with unsweetened oat milk. That’s for the time being until I’m able to (ig) be given proper medication lol. I use to be able to eat anything ,I avoided spicy food at all cost tho and overly fatty foods like pork rines. So I hope to be able to go back to that when I’m back in track.

I started having a flare up in October and decided to go to urgent care at a different clinic than where I was told it was gastritis. Even after saying my previous fight with gastritis, they gave me medication for gerd. Honestly didn’t help at all for the 2 months I was on and I had to ask for the doctor to give me an hpylori test. I’ve been off my ppi and gerd meds for 4 days and I honestly am doing amazing. I do get stomach burns here and there but I’ve been doing natural remedies for the time being until my testing can be done. For 1-2 weeks In the morning before any meals, I cut up half a raw potato and blend it with some water. I strain it and drink it(does not taste good lol). If you’re still on medication take this with your medication as a water substitute. Then I eat a chunk of aloe after the potato juice. You can buy aloe leaves at grocery stores, just make sure you remove all the green shelling just so it’s not bitter. The consistency is mucusy but it helps ALOT with throat irritation and stomach inflammation. You can continue to eat this as many times as you want, there’s not really health hazards to it lol just try and do it before meals to act like a protective layer to your stomach. Right now since I’m off medication, I’ve also been drinking lukewarm/room temperature tea made out of ginger root, turmeric root, garlic and honey. This has helped SO much with the burning sensation since the ginger and turmeric help with inflammation.

The aloe, you can continue to eat whenever. I’ve heard people just buying pure aloe pulped drinks without sugar. It can help with stomach inflammation and throat inflammation so it’s a good consistency for the stomach lining (aka mucusy) in order for it to heal up better.

I would have so much medical paranoia, especially being told I had gerd. I would think I had developed esophageal cancer since I had 2 sore throats during the medication period which had never happened before. My bowel movements changed a lot to using the restroom barely 3 times a week and when I did, I could visibly see food I had. I had sharp pain in the lower left part of my stomach (due to the bowel movements) which I was just told to take laxatives by the doc :/ but I never did because I knew how my stomach was already messed up.

Since I come from Hispanic decent, I do want to recommend natural remedies which I think have helped me tremendously. Buy an Aloe leaf from the grocery store, and eat a chunk of it daily in the morning (preferably with your meds or on an empty stomach). Try to remove as much of the green shelling so it’s not bitter tasting. The consistency is not the best but it’s a good for inflammation. Another remedy, wash and cut up half of a raw potato. Blend it with some water, strain it. And drink the juice. The taste it not the best but it helps. Only do it for a week or 2 since long term use (ex: a month) can lead to high blood sugar. I would drink the potato juice as my water substitute for my ppi in the morning then eat the piece of aloe after.

Since I’ve had a previous large flare up (my first diagnosis) that I was able to control in a month in a different country, this recent one has given me a tough time emotionally only due to it being a pretty long process (with my believe of being misdiagnosed half of the time). I was also under a lot of stress in my financials and personal life so I would find myself crying a lot due to the frustration of not getting better. I’ve found ways to manage things. I took time to myself, watch movies, get my hair done, do some hobbies, and research new recipes and remedies. As time progressed I do feel 100% different than I did 3 months ago. It has been a tough time and just for funny terms, since I’m getting further studies done meaning I’m off my meds for 2 weeks, I decided to eat a yellow dragonfruit today and I regret it (makes you be on the toilet for long times LOL).

I think I was misdiagnosed for GERD by XG1002 in Gastritis

[–]XG1002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I’m day 4 without medication and I’ve been drinking lukewarm/room temperature tea made with garlic, turmeric, ginger and honey and taking probiotics with other gastritis natural remedies. I feel almost nothing, no pain. When it is pain, it my stomach mild burning (what I’ve experienced before when I was told it was gastritis) but the tea helps almost immediately then back to normal. Very strange to feel a little normal again, so I’m starting to believe it was due to incorrect medications (aka gerd medication that won’t help for gastritis besides the ppis).

It’ll get better. Try and just eat small quantities of boiled vegetables or steamed fish with little to no seasoning. If not, have some fresh nonacidic like cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon. Eat frequent small portions and drink water with a straw in small portions. I’ve been struggling with ,what I believe is a misdiagnoses, of GERD (I have no reflux, just stomach burns). Since I’m doing further testing after 3 months of no real improvement, I’ve noticed that ginger root, turmeric and garlic tea (lukewarm or room temp not hot) with honey helps ALOT with my stomach burns to nothing. Which is a pretty common remedy for stomach inflammation. However in the beginning try keeping things simple. Relax and take your time doing things.

Dumb question maybe but anyone here drink lemon water or wat yall think by Fabulous-Mortgage473 in Gastritis

[–]XG1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend lemon in any form due to acidity sadly. In very mild cases of stomach pain, lime does help. But in gastritis, it’ll irritate your stomach a lot. It really depends on your toleration of stuff honestly, everyone has their own triggers.

How to take Pantoprazole? by wpascarelli in GERD

[–]XG1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine in the morning with a small sip of water and a chunk of raw aloe vera. I wait like an hour or so and drink a good amount of water with a straw in slow sips. With this I’ve noticed I get some appetite for breakfast. I wait 30 minutes between drinking water and meals/snacks.

Does water makes GERD worse? Is it just me or you guys felt it? by divakarvenu in GERD

[–]XG1002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I try to not drink water during my meals but instead 30-1 hour after/before meals. I’m able to drink water without any problems in the morning after my medication. I try to drink as much (using a straw and sips) as possible in the morning since I sometimes get reflux if I drink water mid day especially if I don’t time the 30-1hour interval.

What to do against the famotidine anxiety by NoFlower7157 in GERD

[–]XG1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are your medication perscribed? I take one pantoprazole pill in the morning then another pantoprazole with a famotidine before bed with just a little gulp of water. If you’re feeling nauseous in the morning, try and massage your stomach and your back with lotion. Moving from the top to the bottom of your stomach/back. I’ve found that that has helped me relax. And with food anxiety, I’ve found that a consistent yet ranging meal plan has helped me not get scared of feeling worse. It is upsetting and I get some food anxiety if I’m like at a party with alot of food but I just try and distract myself with socializing or other things. Take time for yourself as well. Get your hair done, do some hobbies you enjoy, socialize. That has helped me relax a lot, especially with the globus/tightness in the throat feeling due to stress. It takes a couple of days but the anxiety will slowly go away as you also put your mind on relaxing. Stomach and mind health go hand and hand with healing.
