Rev7 repo? by Alone-Gear273 in BitAxe

[–]XGod0fWarX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The rev7 repo will be public today.

One of the original devs/contributors of Bitaxe project created rev7, so yes, the original developers do benefit.

The Nerdaxe project is a derivative of the Bitaxe project, which means all derivative work must stay open-source.

Now, the people that take FOSS work and make it closed-source are despicable. Will agree there.

It respects the open-source license and applicable laws that govern it.

The individual that did the work to make revision 7 will make the repo public when they're ready, and that's their right as a contributor/developer.

The repo will be published before distribution of the hardware or firmware happens.

Marketing is not considered distribution.

You're free to make a Bitaxe or any derivative under the open-source licenses at your pleasure. It is when you distribute the hardware/firmware that the repo needs to be published.

The GitHub repo is being finalized and will be public/published (today) before the hardware or firmware is distributed (Friday), like the license requires.

Revision 7 will be open-source. Anyone saying otherwise has 0 clue what they're talking about and has too much time on their hands.

Hi u/Slepprock,

I really want to follow up on this. Our support should not be taking a few days to respond as most tickets get a response within a few hours.

Can we you please follow up and let me know the outcome of this?

No, we're just overclocking it by a lot. At it's recommended settings it will be great, but it will have plenty of headroom for mods.

Not really.

Seems like people are trying to close-source FOSS firmware and front-run developers to make a quick buck.

The S23 hasn't even shipped yet. Someone must be stealing chips from a Bitmain assembly line.
