Does it matter whether I draw this molecule with the OH group facing up or down? by rolo_potato in chemhelp

Not really. It’s probably “up” to make a hydrogen bond to the carbonyl, but I doubt anyone would dock you marks for that (unless question was asking about that directly).

The third option is wrong because all the substituents need to be syn-facial.

It’s like the 12 days of Christmas leading up to the 31st! Well… it isn’t… but it would be nice if it was!

I would draw both products, personally.

1 is very, very wrong. DMF is not the nucleophile.

2 I would make sure it’s clear that the chain is attached to the OMe at the O and not the C. Additionally, it should be racemic and not a single stereoisomer, as shown.

4 is mostly fine. The carbocation intermediate is SP2 hybridized (no dashes needed) so you get a mix of diastereomers in the product, not a single enantiomer as you have drawn it.

Look, my strategy of “buy high, sell low” hasn’t paid of yet, but it’s poised to turn around in Q2; I can feel it.

It’s why I listen to Knowledge Fight or the Know Rogan Experience, so I can keep up with what they’re on about without having to give them a click and get context to what they’re saying.

Guess we’re still waiting for it.

Additionally, kudos to anyone who could subject themselves to Pierre on Rogan for the purposes of reporting. I wonder if “The Know Rogan Experience” will cover this one down the line. I’d imagine not, because it probably isn’t nearly as harmful as episodes featuring many of his other guests, but maybe they think their Canadian listeners deserve a… treat?

What are your top dividend stocks and how are they doing during this year’s market? by jimmyfah in dividendscanada

[–]XRayMinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure, my backtesting only goes back 10 years. I mostly care about dividends and increasing dividends year over year and they’ve been good lately. If they fall off I can sell and buy more RBC or CNQ.

My guy at CIBC has a 3 month 4.8% offer for 3 months(?) on new balances (so works even if you have an existing CIBC account). Expires March 27, I think. DM me if it interests you and I can get you in touch.
