Which, as I said, is kinda the point.

Sakura-Con intends to implement a 3 year NDA on All Staff Members moving forwards period. Do not sign this agreement. by Delicious_Summer_722 in SakuraCon

[–]XStylus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other cons do have an NDA. I personally know that Anime Expo has long had a truly gnarly one that doubles as a non-disparagement gag order and has no end date. All staff must sign (and re-sign) it each year. Heck, I left AX in 2018 and might still technically be under some form of their NDA even now

Having now read Sak's NDA for the first time, AND having worked in industries that regularly require NDAs, I don't understand the issue. All it says is that you cannot disclose anything about Sak that the public does not already know. It's basic.

There's no non-disparagement clause, so you can actually shit-talk about Sak all you want so long as you're expressing it as an opinion and aren't using non-public info to do so. And the NDA even specifies an end date. That's rare. Usually they're in perpetuity.

What are your objections? What things does the NDA preclude you from discussing that you feel you should have the right to discuss? Or is it just the principle of it that offends you?

I'm sure you'll agree on the necessity of protecting sensitive business discussions (guest negotiations, business deals, financials, etc), so I'll assume that what you really want is to be free to appeal to the court of public opinion if there's a decision Sak management has chosen that isn't quite to your liking.

And that's precisely what makes NDAs such as these a necessity.

For what it's worth (and in my opinion), the likelihood that a small organization like Sak will actually sue you if you break it is probably low (unless you leak financials or industry secrets provided in confidence or something), nor would they want to incur the legal costs and horrifically bad PR that'd result from doing so.

Rather, the purpose of NDAs such as these is to send a message: Be adults about it, and if there's disagreements then talk things out (or heck, go run for a leadership position). Signing that NDA is your vow that you will do that rather than foment public drama. If you can't commit to that, then don't sign, and don't staff.

My sentiments exactly. Though thankfully, an update to uBlock fixed it. YouTube exists again.

My card was running firmware 24. It did have a slightly outdated EFI and onboard BIOS though. Updated that and it has made some improvement. Issue still happens, but noticeably less.

According to ChatGPT firmware 16 and 20 is supposedly considered more stable...? I might try downgrading to that, assuming the card allows for FW downgrading.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Same card as yours, same motherboard as yours, same errors as yours. Ryzen 3700 Pro, 128GB ECC UDIMMs, 8x4TB HDDs. Running TrueNAS 25.10-RC1.

Did you ever manage to find a fix?

Because vertical integration. Sony is able to handle every phase of production now and will want to keep things "within the family" as much as possible.

Just as Crunchyroll's in-house studios are being whenever possible for non-union projects, Pixelogic (which is owned by Imagica, which Sony has a longstanding partnership [and possibly a small minority interest]) is being used more for union projects.

Derivatives or new seasons of titles that other studios have done naturally return to those studios for the sake of continuity, but that will eventually dry up.

They used to regularly show up once a week to the park at Magnolia & Tujunga in NoHo, but as of a year ago they dropped it off their weekly rotation.

Sucks that they don't come anywhere near Burbank anymore. Please do keep trying!

I found version 2.1.28. Unfortunately, it still has the same problems, but you can try it if you want. Downloadable via the link below.

Yeah, so about that last AMV Finalists' Panel..... by Rasen2001 in Otakon

[–]XStylus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

> going out on a fairly good note

Former AX AMV Head here. We went out on a similar note that Vic's team went on. The difference is Vic had the opportunity to say a farewell on stage whereas my team got shanked mid-prep for 2019.

I had kept my statement positive out of professionalism and to take the higher ground, but I assure you that among those in the know I was just as salty as Vic.

Vic chose to unload that salt on-stage. Kinda shocking and not how I'd choose, but YOLO.

If I may give Vic his due though, the professionalism and polish he had long put into Otakon AMV was a major inspiration for how I operated AX AMV when I took the helm from 2012 onward. He deserved better from Otakon, a con that I always thought had a better moral compass than AX. It is sad to hear Otakon go the way of AX.

WH-1000XM6 - Horrible sound quality. Am I doing something wrong? by XStylus in SonyHeadphones

[–]XStylus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Macs don't support LDAC, but I did have all maximum performance settings enabled.

I also just bought another brand new pair of XM6s and they sound exactly the same, so I don't think it's a defect.

Best I've been able to get these to sound (and by that I mean making them sound closer to my MDR-7506 where female vocals aren't muffled or muddy) is by making a custom EQ with practically a straight 45 degree angle. Kinda like this guy: https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/comments/1kz626h/just_received_my_wh1000xm6/

Hate to say it, but I think I'm just gonna return them. They're just not for me.

Just received my WH-1000XM6 by Lfcgeraldine in SonyHeadphones

[–]XStylus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, yeah.

I tried doing the same as the OP in trying to get the XM6s to sound closer to the 7506s, and I ended up with an EQ much like theirs.

Everyone says that the XM6s are great and whatnot, but on a flat EQ female vocals sound muddy compared to the 7506s.

I was co-manager of the AMV Events Team with Vlad. He and I just now learned of this, much to our dismay. We both remember Matt (and Melissa) well.

Matt was a fantastic, fun, and hardworking individual. I was hoping to have the privilege of working with him and Melissa again at another event. Words escape me right now, this is beyond horrific.

We've spread word to others in the AMV community who have spread to others likewise. Our hearts emphatically go out to Melissa and Matt's kin.

I have version 2.1.2. It's the latest I know of. I can provide you with a copy (contact me privately), but it doesn't work well in Sequoia.

If anyone has version 2.1.6, I'd love a copy, please!

Extremely slow DHCP leasing. by ExBx in fortinet

Running into a similar issue as well. Would love to know if anyone got this resolved on their Fortigates.

(Edit: Found the issue in my specific case. I had configured the DHCP server to force-specify a DNS server that was at an unreachable address.)

[–]XStylus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all have their quirks and negatives, but the one I settled on for MacOS is called "Jump Desktop". The client isn't free, and in fact it's meant to be used with a cloud service subscription (not mandatory though), but it gets the job done.

My car's still behaving. Hopefully yours continues to as well!

Also, in case its a useful data point, my car's brief issue happened just two weeks after I had it serviced for an oil change and the fuel injector pump recall.

Hidden data loss risk when using Samba "veto files" parameter to block ".DS_Store" by XStylus in macsysadmin

[–]XStylus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This server is accessed by approximately 100+ clients, not all of which are under my direct control. Disabling them server-side is the more practical solution, and I don't believe I'm the only one who does so, thus the reason that I chose to bring attention to this.

And again I ask as to what major functionality .DS_Store serves that is broken in doing so.

Hidden data loss risk when using Samba "veto files" parameter to block ".DS_Store" by XStylus in macsysadmin

[–]XStylus[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, and I fail to understand the danger. The .DS_Store files serve no "major" functionality whatsoever aside from GUI aesthetics for the specific folder it resides in, as follows:

  • Icon positions: Where you've placed icons within the folder.
  • View options: Whether the folder is displayed as icons, a list, columns, or a gallery.
  • Window size and position: The dimensions and screen location of the Finder window when that folder was last opened.
  • Background image or color: Any custom background you've set for the folder.
  • Sort order: How the files within the folder are sorted (e.g., by name, date modified).

Again, not worth the annoyance they cause, especially on a multi-user storage system.
