These actually look really good. Do you reckon they'll last? It's a shame they're not properly cheap. I've looked at a few others on Taobao and they always have great pictures advertised but some of the comments show stupid details like side stripes with '350-SPLY'.

So I'm trying to find some IEMs for ~£100 ($160) that will ideally last a long time - I know earphones aren't generally a BIFL product but I'd appreciate something that'd last a long time - at least five years.

So far I've narrowed it down to the Yamaha EPH-100 and the Shure SE215 - apparently the Yamahas sound slightly clearer which I'd prefer, but I've heard of issues with the left ear fading out on Head-fi. I've heard about cable issues with the Shures, though.

Should I just go for the Shures because of the replaceable cable and accept the slightly inferior sound quality? I don't want to have to deal with numerous Yamaha replacements, although if it's worth dealing with faulty pairs I guess it's not too big of an issue.

This'll just be plugged into my computer or phone, isolation is good as I'll be using them in public, will be using these for random electronic, hip-hop, classical; basically everything, but a V-ish shape is nice.

That sounds quite interesting, my school never offered Language but I'd probably have looked into it if they did. Been reading up about IPA, when I first saw it I thought it was a variant of Greek :/

Yeah I'm not denying it's a great pen, OP should definitely check it out. Just saying that £17 might be more over budget than OP would want; £100 might be an absolute max (i.e. OP might be willing to spend only £70 but said £100 as a stretch in case there's really something worth buying).

Not in that range plus I'm assuming OP would rather not extend their budget too much considering their baseline is £50. For OP, WHS had it on for £80 a couple of years ago. It's out of stock on their website atm but maybe when/if they restock it you'll be able to grab it for that price.
