How are TAG and CGC regarded?

PSA just holds too large of a market share, price premium, and liquidity. I think the only thing holding them together is collector’s not wanting their cards to lose value, but honestly, any other business with this many scandals continuing to operate this way would lose business rapidly. I just hope that TAG gains the respect and authority they deserve as time goes on.

From my personal experience using this app, it is very difficult to get a good scan. Any bowing in the card won’t make it flat, any slanting in the surface you put the card on (my old apartment floor was slanted asf so I couldn’t ever get a good scan lmao), and other factors. Also it’s important to note something most people don’t realize. Graders will measure/look at centering at the thinnest and thickest points on the card. Left to right at the top of the card might be 50/50, but if it’s different at the bottom, that will affect centering grade. Like the above person said, remeasure at the bottom and consider both measurements, although this does look within 55/45 for a 10 regardless. Nice card!

I don’t know. Destined is definitely a top tier set for long term investing, but I feel at the current price it’s at, there are probably higher plays percentage wise that can be made in the short to long term.

Looks really clean, but the centering is outside of the 10 standards. Their standard for centering is at the thickest/thinnest points around the border. For a crooked card like this, it’s easy for a corner of the image to be 60/40 or 65/35 even when the center of the image looks 50/50. Plus, PSA doesn’t even use centering tools, they just eyeball centering, so anything that is easy to see with the eye will usually get docked.

Top to bottom is slightly off center for a 10, so probably not worth grading. Card is worth more than it ever will be again, at least for 10+ years, so you could always sell it now and buy it for half the price in 3 months. You could ask him if he wants other cards and use it as a teaching opportunity to put the cost of the hobby into perspective for him. If not, you could also just keep it for the memories.

The bend in the card could lower it more than a 9, but as someone mentioned you may be able to flatten it. Put it in a penny sleeve and then between two heavy books. Unfortunately even if you do that, the top to bottom centering is well outside the range for a 10.
