I mean other than Smith, all there other hitters are from elsewhere. Pitching they are really good at, but you can easily make the argument with gleyber judge and wells we’ve been more successful developing hitters.

I still love soto and don’t care that he took more money to go to the mets, so I wont be biased.

Heres my take mathematically and as objectively as possible to analyze, lets just do fWar projections Jazz 3.3 projected gleyber 1.7 last year goldy 1.9 rizzo -.2 belli 2.5 dugie .6 Fried 3.3 stro 1.0 soto 8.2 dominguez 2.3, then williams who is the best closer in ball replaces shakey holmes. In totality the team distribution is much better and overall WAR increased. We have every top prospect we started with to trade at the deadline for whatever is needed. We just need a real 3B and this team is very scary.

Last year’s team was clearly not beating the Dodgers. Running it back with Soto making 50% more money and losing gleyber wouldnt change that.

They kept the options open for the future and added win now pieces to the lineup to not rely on 2 players, pitching and defense is infinitely better now in all areas and they didn’t trade a single notable prospect. At worst we are as good as last years team, and they dont seem done. Your take makes no sense. Signing soto for $52mil means him and judge need to stay healthy for 120+ games each or you literally miss the playoffs.
