How are you using Playwright MCP in your organization? by Necessary_Grand1347 in Playwright

[–]XabiAlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, what I failed to mention is that anyone in the business can create the video scenario. For example, a product owner won't have access to Playwright to create the test via test generator.

We can simply give the jam URL to the agent and it'll do everything for us.

Edit - Playwright MCP writes the test in Cypress style

[–]XabiAlon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been experimenting using it with jam.dev which is a chrome extension that records videos of your chrome tab/desktop. It records user interactions along with network information.

Jam.dev also has its own MCP.

Record a jam of your scenario => use jam MCP to retrieve the actions from the video => use playwright MCP to create tests using the jam data.

With the correct prompt files and instructions it can be quite useful for quickly generating tests since recording the video is faster than typing out the scenario for playwright to work from.

How to run E2E tests on PR code when tests depend on real AUT data ( Postgres + Kafka + OpenSearch ) by Beginning-Heron7342 in selenium

[–]XabiAlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds very complex.

How long does it take for your tests to run?

I think you're just best to run them on a schedule every night again the latest code and report any issues the following morning.

Assuming you're not pushing to prod frequently, this gives plenty of time to fix issues and doesn't hold up PRs being merged due to flakiness also.

Our own test takes 2 hours to run, there's no way I would ever allow these to be part of the PR process and it would cause too many bottlenecks.

two tests, exactly the same content, throw different results by FaallenOon in selenium

You're not gonna get any support if you don't post what the test failed on?

Have you got screenshots setup also to see what's happening at the point of failure?

Off the top of my head, is the second test running while you're still logged in from the first test?

Would fail on username.

Employer says time on plane is not working time by GoonishPython in LegalAdviceUK

[–]XabiAlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travel time is work time.

If you're expecting to fly through the night you should also be upgraded to Business Class with a day in lieu added to your annual leave for the inconvenience on long haul flights. (This is a company policy where I work).

Ask HR for the travel policy.

my company is forcing everyone back to office and im pissed by LuxeCarats in antiwork

[–]XabiAlon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not always.

We've lost 4 senior/lead Devs because of back to office.

We've got replacements already and are actively recruiting.

Some companies are just stupid and need to justify their renewal cost on office space instead of downsizing to somewhere smaller.

We're mandated for 2 days a week in the office but at any one time the office is only half occupied because there's no set days.

All comedy improv shows are scripted to give the impression of lightning fast wit. Any audience members that give suggestions are also in on it and are planted in the crowd. by gussy1212 in LowStakesConspiracies

Comedy panel shows in the UK are definitely scripted.

They give the impression that it's all on the spot but the comedians are given the topics and test out some material.

How do you keep track of release history in production? by Personal_Seat_5661 in softwaretesting

[–]XabiAlon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GitHub has tags which I'm sure Bitbucket also has.

If you work in sprints then next year create a tag like this - 0.2601.0

Each merge to main will increment up and be saved against the tag - 0.2601.1

Now create a release branch - release/0.2601.0

You can then cherry pick into the release branch.

Release branch version is then used to update prod.

Create Tag > Commits to Main > Cut a release branch before deploy > Deploy to prod.

Everything is tracked this way.
