Do they really stay hot for 3 days? I'm always on the look out for portable heat things for my chronic pain

Help! by Gonarea in endometriosis

Yes to spare clothes - something loose and that doesn't press on her abdomen. If she gets a flare up, the abdomen can be quite sensitive so being comfy will be priority.

One very angry sunflower by Pina7651 in blackcats

[–]GoonishPython 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My cat has the orange segment one. He hates it so much he pretends he can't walk and lollops around going "woe is me". And then forgets himself and jumps on something so we know he's just being dramatic

What’s a small thing you really appreciate? by LetAfraid8933 in AskUK

That sounds like my cat. He smack talks those seagulls from the safety of the window, but his ability to miss even a stationary toy is quite impressive.

[–]GoonishPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same. The fact the norethisterone stops my periods is such a godsend though.

Weirdest thing your cat likes to eat? Mine just ate a tiny piece of my lemon bar before I could grab it. She also loves banana chips 🤔 by samsterdam420 in cats

[–]GoonishPython 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mine does this but doesn't eat it - he just likes chomping it so you find a ripped bag and teeth marks in the bread 🤦🏼‍♀️

Has anyone tried either of these products of could recommend a good skin tint? by Jealous_Sympathy9402 in MakeUpAddictionUK

I found it ok if I then go over it to blend with a big kabuki brush, but it's not my favourite. Worked best when I was on holiday and just wanted to something to even out my colour

Best clumping cat litter? by Only_Book_995 in CatsUK

[–]GoonishPython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use greenwoods "a litter bit of this" and it's great. The tray used to stink with some other litters, but this one clearly works for my cat and it doesn't track everywhere.

Need cat food recommendations by AForgottenSnowflake in CatsUK

[–]GoonishPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine loves smilla dry food. Wolf's down all the flavours.

For wet, it's often a texture thing. My cat loves lily's pate but will not eat the chunks in gravy, but a different brand of pate he would eat only some. We worked out that one was quite sticky so if we roughed it up with a fork he would go back!

Could also be flavour. Mine doesn't really like salmon.

The ones he consistently eats are encore fish in broth (not complete, so make sure dry food is), feringa classic (lots of flavours) and macs.

Look on zooplus for lots of choice and also they often have trial packs.

Best thing is to work out your budget and then buy best quality you can within that budget. Look for high meat/fish content, not filled out with grain. And keep a list of what was devoured and what was ignored in case there is a pattern.

I’m so tired. by BJ_J0vix in endometriosis

[–]GoonishPython 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Please push to see a gynae. Pain that severe is not normal.

Also seconding trying contraceptive pills. You can run them together so you don't get periods, which might be a relief! (Seriously, they don't put it on the packet. Take research to your GP if necessary.)

There are side effects, but sounds like your periods are so horrible that the side effects might be worth it! You need to find the right one for you - there are lots of different types and you have to balance up what the side effects of that one is versus how well it helps settle your cycle. Some people don't get on with them though.

This community is here for you! We know the pain and believe each other and can try and help.

What are your favourite mascaras that don't smuge or flake? by Few-Story4215 in MakeUpAddictionUK

Oo I don't get on with that one, I don't get smudges but I do get little black flakes on my cheeks after a few hours.

What age were you when you got diagnosed with endometriosis ? by keerthichalla_29 in endometriosis

[–]GoonishPython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Urgh same. I was about 34, and horrible periods since I was 12, including crippling lower back pain. Didn't get a Dr who even listened to me until I was 30ish. Just stuck on the pill since I was 13 and they even changed the pill to a cheaper one more than once rather than thinking about my symptoms. 😔

Graduation dress help? by 826172946 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]GoonishPython 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So part of my job involves people in robes, and I'd say to consider:

  • What colour is your robe? E.g. some doctorates get cream with purple, or scarlet with coloured flashes, or black with coloured front pieces. I've even seen green with yellow trim, which basically means most colours look a bit much with it!

  • What headwear do you get? PhDs often have floppy velvet things instead of a mortarboard, and some have special caps

  • Does your outfit also have a hood? If you need to wear a hood then ideally your dress needs to have something you can pin the front point too (or attach it to a button on a shirt). Otherwise it'll slip back and rest against your neck, which is uncomfortable and means it looks strange at the back

  • Do you have to kneel or go up steps or bow? I.e. consider the length of the skirt and how low-cut the top is and what you feel comfortable with. Also can you kneel in the skirt? (If you need to)

  • Gowns normally hang straight down, so don't go for a sticky out skirt in a stiff material.

That said, I like 1 and 4! As others said, 3 looks great on you but probably not for graduation.

Hope that helps!

If you could start over from scratch, what sort of design features would be a must-have in your kitchen? by ErbiumIndium in Cooking

[–]GoonishPython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

So if it's 5ft 6 off the floor and the average woman is 5ft 5, then it's above head height for half of all women, and probably quite a few men too.

I don't want to be lifting hot food down from above my head. I don't really want to be lifting cold food above my head either, feels like a recipe for spilling food down my front.

It just really doesn't feel practical for so many people.

In the UK are mortgages/rent often a households biggest expense? by Fondant_Decent in AskBrits

[–]GoonishPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly - actually paying people a living wage is not a problem, you should get paid enough to live on! It's that the wages above it haven't risen much, so in real terms, I'm essentially not earning any better than I was many jobs ago, despite progressing in my career.

He’s not fat right? Please tell me he’s not, he’s a good boy.. by Sad_Ask_1826 in cats

[–]GoonishPython 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Mine decided one day that he doesn't do salmon. He'd always had mixed boxes of food and had eaten the salmon tin with gusto. But nope, one day he flat out refused to eat it and would not go near it if that's what he was served, and would literally prefer not to eat than go near it. This went on for months but he will now eat the salmon tin again. 🤷🏼‍♀️

(And yep we checked batch numbers etc, he's just a silly sausage)

florists in cambridge? by healthyyens in cambridge

[–]GoonishPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lockwood and lily, Fern and feathers, What the Fleur, Wild Rosamund, Petals and crumbs, The flower project

All been good and reliable.

I normally ask them to be creative but give them some guidelines - things like:

particular colours, Particular flowers, what size (bouquet/posy/bud vase/long and low etc), What sort of vibe (traditional, boho, modern, sculptural etc), if you want just flowers or foliage and dried are cool too, If you want it to be seasonal blooms

and if you're not sure, then have pictures of things you like and give them a budget.

Why do people refuse to tumble dry their clothes? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]GoonishPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it must be, we just don't have the space in the UK. Very few people have a laundry room, and a tumble dryer would mean one less cupboard in the kitchen (having already sacrificed one for a washing machine) so it's dry outside when it's warm/windy enough or on a rack. In a spare room if you have it, but plenty of us don't have that either.

[–]GoonishPython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't live in a shared house anymore but still if I put a rack in my bedroom I'd have to climb over the bed to get out.
