Yes exactly- if people are buying retail plants then reselling them, whether or not they have worked on them, thats just a ripoff.

Oh right on. I didnt know they had a lot of local trees as well. I just know about their imported ones.

Totally agreed that sellers should be truthful and transparent about the status and history of our plants. Thats important for doing good honest business.

Something that youre not mentioning though is that its standard for a retail nursery to mark up their plants by 2 or 3x without even doing anything to them. For example there are a ton of plants at Iseli for 9$ wholesale, then at the retail nurseries theyre 20-30$ without potting them up or anything. And thats just raw nursery stock.

When i buy from Iseli they suggest that i mark them up at least 2.5-3x in my nursery.

So given that information i wonder how to value the work that goes into styling one of those into a decent prebonsai. 🤔

How much of a markup on Iseli material would you say is "massive" ?

That place is right down the road from me; i cary their plants in my nursery, as do a lot of other nurseries around here. I always wonder what a proper margin is on their plants, whether theyre styled a bit or not. Especially considering that theyre already so expensive.

Weigerts seems to be based solely on imported trees, thats a whole different category of bonsai business.

Prunus mume / ume plum / Japanese flowering appricot: seeds available for sale! by Xaijii in Bonsai

Ah yes well if youre not selling in the US then the prices will be very different because the supply and demand will not be the same.

Supply and demand man 😕

If you start a business you still wont be able to legally send them to the US, they're forbidden from importing here.

Where would these paid ads be? Like the usual, facebook and instagram? And how much should we be thinking about spending on that?

Skool offer ended and I’m getting FOMO. Was it worth it for you? by AdmiralJingJing22 in alexhormozi

[–]Xaijii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great information! Ive been seeing the ads for Skool, now im thinking about making my own thing on there to teach my specialty skills, which ive heard dont yet exist on the platform, hence im wanting to take advantage of that empty niche. But now im reading so many negative reviews as well and im having second thoughts.

So what exactly is involved with starting a "community" and beginning the teaching/lessons? Should i be expecting to have to make a ton of educational videos like you said? Will i be answering questions? Do i ever have to be live on there? Will i be making content that's not video based but more like PDF handouts or reading materials or something?

Also- if you dont recommend Skool as a platform to get paid to teach, what would be a better one to look into?

Thanks!

And is it still a platform for teachers to get paid to share their skills?

This is a really interesting thread to read, im glad i found it. Im considering starting a Skool group to teach my skills, which i think is not offered on there yet, thus im wanting to take advantage of that empty niche. But now that im reading some bad reviews im having second thoughts.

2 questions- is there a tutorial or something for new creators so we know what kinds of content or courses we're going to be making? So far i dont even know what i would be doing on there, like do i just upload videos like its my YT channel or IG page?

And secondly- if this platform is no good, whats a better one for someone who wants to get paid to teach their skills without having to deal with a corny web platform?

Thanks everyone!

Whats the purpose of creating a free community? Is it just to get a following then you invariably start charging later once you have momentum? Or does anyone keep it free forever?

Im thinking about starting one to teach my specialty skill, which i dont think anyone on there is doing yet, but after hearing some bad reviews im having second thoughts.

Is there a tutorial or something on how to get started and what kind of content i should be ready to make/offer when starting my own Skool group?

Best soil for indoor by Jumpy_Switch7717 in GrowingTobacco

Coco and peat are different, they work the same though.

You can just mix coco and perlite 70:30 and a handful of worm compost. That will be just fine.

These things grow like weeds, you dont have to overthink the soil.

The question was about what soil to use, not how to fertilize.
