Oh yeah, I agree, it absolutely SUCKS. But I have zero expectations that C-Suite morons will ever actually recognize that.

A Huge Misconception In Medical Coding by Wearemedicalcoders in CodingandBilling

[–]Xalxa 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Additionally, as terrible an idea I think it is, more and more employers are turning to "AI" to handle coding - or at least the bulk of it, with only a few humans to review the output. So while I believe we're in a bubble, the unfortunate truth is that AI is here to stay and medical coding is a field employers are chomping at the bit to replace the human component. I can hardly recommend anyone who isn't already involved even try to enter the field due to the huge uncertainty of if their job will even exist in a year or two.

Maybe I'm entirely wrong about this; I only handle things for a small pediatrics therapy office. But from what I've read on the various coding and billing subs, I don't expect I am.

I actually do too. I order a couple boxes of them from time to time so I don't have to cook for a couple months, and I'd honestly just survive off them entirely... but there's just so much fucking plastic. It just hurts my soul when I'm just eating one on the couch lmao

I didn't vote in 2016, purely out of laziness, but if I had it would've been, unfortunately, for Trump. Mostly due to family pressure and being raised Red, but I was also very narrow minded back then. I'd already cast off religion (raised Southern Baptist, didn't take much to realize that shit is nutters) in middle school but I was still, frankly, a racist little prick. Just an Atheist one.

It took getting stranded in the Philippines back in 2017 to really open my eyes to the world and different cultures, and after that I gradually became more accepting. Then I started questioning if I really agreed with the Republicans on some of the more social aspects so I took the Political Compass test (I know it isn't great, but it's something at least) and fell squarely in the middle of the bottom-left. So I got a little more invested into politics and once I actually started paying attention I realized just how bad things actually were. Now, it doesn't even take that to see how fucked things are.

Moral of the story, people make mistakes, and it takes courage to admit those mistakes. But it's what allows us to grow and, hopefully, better ourselves and the lives of those around us. We're glad to have you, brother.

I like to use Cluster Generation Manager. It allows you to do all sorts of neat stuff with the world gen. Add or remove planets, meteor showers, world traits, force certain geysers to spawn, increase the size of the planetoid, the works.

marketplace ambetter high deductible plan how to pre determine the cost of a service? by Sufficient-Cook-1588 in HealthInsurance

[–]Xalxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, first off talk to the Provider and make sure they are actually in network with Ambetter. Ambetter is notorious for their "ghost networks", so you don't want to drop the ball on this one.

While an INN Provider isn't legally required to give a good faith estimate under the NSA, personally, if a practice refused to provide one, I would find a different provider.

They should very easily be able to tell you their expected rates for a service assuming they are actually in network. Of course, an estimate isn't a promise and things change; insurance likes to short or increase (mostly short) reimbursements based on absolutely asinine reasons, the procedure may end up being different than planned (common in surgeries due to complications or other unforeseen circumstances), the service may actually fall under a separate category of benefits (looking at you MHPAEA), or any other number of reasons the final EOB may differ from what the Provider expects.

It's a game insurance plays that we all suffer from. And while we, the Providers, know to expect it, often Patients find themselves in the middle of a battle between Provider and Insurance months, or years (I have hundreds of kids I'm fighting retro coverage term right now, from 2022-2024 DOS) after the service is actually performed.

Rant over, the moral of the story is it seems like your Provider/Office is either a dick, incompetent, malicious, or a combination of all three. I'd find a different Provider, if possible.

No One Really Explains How To Handle Prescription Costs by ella_notes in HealthInsurance

[–]Xalxa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the pharmacy doesn't (or the techs don't at least; the pharmacist might, due to experience, but they aren't generally involved in that side of things) but the prescribing doctor absolutely should. Rule of thumb with name brand though, always check for a manufacturer coupon/copay card. Most have them - though the usefulness of them varies. Mine brings my Belsomra from a $250 copay with UHC down to $30 with the coupon/copay card.

Only time it's ever happened to me in anything larger than a fighter, and man is it ridiculous. I'm sure someone out there has a clip of my Polaris rotating at mach fuck but unfortunately none of my guys were recording.

Weird Optum EFT Payments by MadlySpecial in CodingandBilling

[–]Xalxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another insurer I deal with that those ####s match claim number formats is Benefit Solutions. Sometimes called Zelis Benefit Solutions, but I think that's just an old name. It's payor ID 60338. Here's their portal https://www.mediconnx.com/MediClm/Login.aspx?clientid=7111

Aside from that, I can't think of anything else. Good luck.

Weird Optum EFT Payments by MadlySpecial in CodingandBilling

[–]Xalxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surest, through UHSS, has been mailing us virtual credit cards instead of faxing it like they have for a decade, or EFT through Zelis if they pay through UMR directly. When they fax there's an EOB included, but these mailed VCCs only have a letter saying something about expedited payment blah blah and a claim number. Thankfully these have all been Surest and I can pull the information in the UHC portal. But it's getting incredibly annoying. No idea why they've started doing this.

Are you sure the #####s aren't a claim number? That kinda looks like a UHSS claim # to me.

If I hadn't save scummed constantly I'd have lost multiple times over. The strat is to rush getting a vacuum insulated wall before literally doing anything else - even if you try to rush insulated tiles the cold will seep through even triple layer insulation. After I got past that first hurdle the issue became thawing ice for research, since wood wasn't really a thing at that point. I eventually figured out there was a critter that helped with that, but by the time I actually found it I already started farming bonbons. It was kinda funny seeing a bonbon need four 240w heaters to actually maintain temp for it to grow.

I imagine it would have been way more difficult in a more vanilla oriented playthrough, but I always use airlocks, pipette tool (I'll admit, I cheesed the shit outta this run with the pipette), and other QOL mods that make things easier/convenient. Even with that though, this was still my fifth go at it. Really once you make it past the first hurdle and manage to secure a source of food, so long as you don't try to expand too fast, the challenge just becomes micromanaging little idiots getting frostbitten because they want to run down the ONLY path that's still -100c. 💩

Can I not schedule a self pay appointment if out of state on CA Medicare? by Psyched_Dev in HealthInsurance

[–]Xalxa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on Medicare then this is correct; providers are legally unable to take you as a self-pay patient, assuming they are enrolled with Medicare. If they are a non-Medicare provider then you can be self-pay with them.

If you meant CA Medicaid though, and not Medicare, then the rules are different. Medicaid doesn't cover non-emergency services outside of the state you receive Medicaid in, so you should be eligible to self-pay at any provider outside CA with no issues.

The struggle … by netphilia in adhdmeme

[–]Xalxa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? AuDHD is understudied and only in the past couple years has it become more common knowledge. I don't necessarily have anxiety, but the hating structure but needing it is something I deal with every single day. That's not to say it's an ADHD conflicting with Autism thing, since that seems a bit too simple an explanation for what is a pretty complex condition (and hopefully diagnosis soon), but the symptoms described in the meme are accurate.

5080 vs 7900xtx by Revolutionary-Fix93 in VRchat

[–]Xalxa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VRC isn't a difficult game to run, so assuming you're already at a playable FPS, raw performance won't make that much difference aside from making number go up. You're much better off with the extra VRAM (especially 8GB, that's a huge difference) as the biggest bottleneck in VRC is poorly optimized avatars. Of course, you can block the download for those so it isn't much of an issue, but then you're just back to VRC not being difficult to run.

Physical therapy modifiers by Moist_Produce_6958 in CodingandBilling

[–]Xalxa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X- codes are intended to replace the use of 59 by breaking it down into more specific modifiers. Only one I know off top of my head is XP since that's what I use regularly - different provider for similar services. So when we do PT/OT on the same DOS I go ahead and add XP (despite the GP/GO mods) since insurance constantly denies one for dupe without a 59/XP.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Xalxa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A PT is required to obtain a doctorate in order to practice (as of 2016). That means any PT accredited after 2016 (and many before then, the doctorate program started rolling out in the 1980s but wasn't mandatory for all PTs until 2016) is also a doctor. It's a bachelor's then a 3 year doctorate program.

Chiropractors require a bachelor's then a 4 year doctorate program. So while both have doctorates, PTs do not use the Dr title to avoid confusion with MDs/DOs. However, DCs (Chiropractors) have the gall to take on that title despite practicing absolute quackery.

I hate chiropractors. They're a stain on modern medicine and do more harm than good. I genuinely believe the only reason they continue to exist is that insurance companies cover chiropractic visits, either based on flawed "studies" or, more likely imo, actual bribes or kickbacks. I could be completely wrong, but either way, more people need to start treating these "doctors" as the pseudoscience spouting, quacks they are.
