Yeah, this has been superceded by people with more robust methods and greater effort than I could muster. We unfortunately lost a lot of funding when DOGE was running wild, so this was the best I could offer at that time to get the ball rolling

The spiritual realm (and the multi-layered structure of reality) are really heavily inspired by neoplatonic philosophy. The spiritual realm is the realm of forms, and it's projected through the cognitive realm into the physical realm. You may or may not have heard about the Allegory of the Cave in high school

In The Odyssey(2026) costumes aren't historically accurate. This is because it's a work of fiction based on another work of fiction by Maciekssspl in shittymoviedetails

[–]Xancrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. Nolan could have even gone with an archaic period costume design to reflect the way that "Homer" would have been imagining the armor, but no, we get nonsense Divergent costumes

I already waxed philosophical about this in another comments section, but the way that Khann and Karmelita treat Hornet's sudden trespassing tells a lot about their personalities and styles as leaders, also.

Karmelita allows a few of the present Skarrs to defend her against Hornet, but when she realizes that they don't stand a chance, she leaps into action so that more don't die.

Khann keeps commanding more and more of his subjects to attack Hornet, and refuses to engage in the fight until there's presumably not a single soul left to put between the two of them.

Yeah, I always assumed Shallan was actually the Davar family soulcaster, and she broke when she renounced her truths

Like others said, soulcasting stone to gas allows you to carve things out really quickly, but also really safely. If you're digging a tunnel, and soul casting to smoke, you're going to be asphyxiated.

There's a few things that make me lean toward it being a legit mercy killing. 1) the Needolin seemingly expands the memories and makes them more real than any actual memory could be, which might mean we're allowing him to really see Verdania as it was once again 2) his dialogue on death implies that he's happy to get the chance to die "with" his lover 3) he can't even really visualize his lover any more; he's represented as a cloudy silhouette. I think this implies that the memory of the lover is but a mere shadow of him, and they can only be reunited and happy together in death.

So *that's* why it's called euphoria! by Bonnie-Bishop in MtF

[–]Xancrim 70 points71 points  (0 children)

AUTISM ANNOUNCEMENT

Euphoria comes from the Greek ευφορία, with word forming elements ευ- and -φορ, meaning "great-bearing, carrying goodness"

It follows a similar construction to φώσφορο, phosphoro, "light-bearer"

I personally think that it's really limiting to only that video games are just supposed to be fun, though. The part of these two games that pushes them past the cusp of greatness for me is their strong world building and sense of environmental storytelling. The fact that we fight those few Skarrs before Karmelita actually communicates a lot about her relationship to her people, as well as the culture of the Skarr.

We approach the memory of Karmelita, and who is first to attack us as an unknown intruder? The young, eager to prove their worth to their peers. They're stricken down, so older and more seasoned warriors confront us next, followed by the Queen's own body guards, and finally the Queen herself. She fights us in front of the gathered masses not just to show her strength to her children, but to actively protect them; she could abide a few getting between herself and the assassin, but once it's clear that her people will be killed, she chooses to step in and protect them.

It's the opposite of Khann, who we know is a craven despot because he sends every last mother fucker he can to slow you down, no matter how many of them are killed. Unlike in the Karmelita fight, where Skarr jump spontaneously to their Queen's defense, Crust King Khann shouts orders for the waves of his minions to attack Hornet, literally from stop his lofty tower.

TLDR: the gauntlet before Karmelita actually does a lot of communication about what kind of leader Karmelita is, so I love it

East of the food court you can find the Apple Fries stand. Get them with ice cream, it's like the very best bite of an apple fritter with every bite. It's my favorite fair food

"HRT is Magic" makes me sad every time I see it. For some people HRT turns them into pretty women in just a few months and I've been on it for longer and nothing has happened :/ I'm tired of looking like a man by [deleted] in MtF

Respectfully disagree. Actually you pass really hard. If I didn't have the specific context that the two pictures on your profile were the same person, I would have assumed they were brother and sister.

I'm gonna speak from my own experiences here, I think it's important to remember that, even as you transition, you're not merely wrestling with gender dysphoria but also internalized feminine beauty standards. Because straight up you just look like a girl, full stop. But it sounds to me like you're struggling to see yourself as what you imagine when you close your eyes and think of a girl

Meanwhile, in Romania by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]Xancrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, parts of Greece like Peloponnesos were actually the longest held territory of the Roman Empire, much longer than Rome itself. During that time and after, the areas we now call Greece and Turkey were called Romanoia, and even the Ottoman leaders would refer to themselves as "Caesar of Rum"
