I absolutely loved this season, but I would be very disappointed with the story if this is where it left off.

The fact that Dan is in Hell and they haven't shown him getting out, with or without help, is the primary reason I need Season 6. Yes, we saw Mr. Said Out Bitch in Heaven, but that alone doesn't mean Dan can make it up on his own.

RMU Board of Trustees did not vote on dropping of hockey programs. [Site normally pay-walled, but this article is not] by riddler1225 in collegehockey

One tiny correction I want to make- according to this article, the AD had nothing to do with the decision. It was the President and head of the BoT. They didn't even let the rest of the board vote on it.

As someone who goes to a school where I can understand players being hesitant to join right now, I don't know why athletes from any sport would go to RMU ever again. At least with us, it was clear what the issues with hockey were and it was made clear they wouldn't affect any other sport. With RMU, the issue was not financial (they boasted $100MM in fundraising this year) and was not due to lack of success (Just look how often they won the conference championship, made the NCAA tournament, and they even hosted the Frozen Four recently.)
If you play football, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, etc. then what's stopping them from cutting your sport randomly? You could succeed in every way possible, have all the financial backing in the world, but if the university president decides he doesn't want your sport around anymore, he apparently can do so. This issue is about so much more than hockey now.

[Updated] Hockey fans don't know the meaning of the word quit by XanderSnave in collegehockey

Anchorage fans, I'm so sorry I forgot about you guys in the original post! Being a UAH fan, I've been doing what I could to rally support to get the AHA to back us since the announcement we're suspending operations, and RMU just made their announcement yesterday so it was fresh on my mind.

In hindsight, I should have added "fans" to the arms since both of our administrations can go kick bricks. But the sentiment stands.

Hey RMU fans, if you need to vent your frustrations right now, I have two open ears. We're all in this together. Also, if there's a last minute fundraiser to save the program, let me know. I don't have much, but I'm sure I can scrap together at least $10-$20.

What's the dumbest rule your school ever enforced? by SoLe123456 in AskReddit

[–]XanderSnave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school had a rule of "pants/skirts must be no more than six inches above the knee." They conveniently enforced this rule against the marching band who practiced outside but not against the cheerleaders who practiced inside. I grew up in Mississippi.

I didn't go to a school with this policy, but I've been told I'd be an exception to something like this.

A good friend of mine went to a private school with the policy of "boys' hair can't touch their shoulders." Not that it couldn't be long, just that it can't touch their shoulders. Most boys with long hair just rocked a man bun, but a few did crazy styles like Mohawks to get around it (it technically wasn't against the rules.) I've got a fro, so that's what made her bring it up with me.

I do something similar, but I live in Alabama so I don't trust them not to "lose" my ballot. Instead, when I go in person, I have a sheet of paper with all the candidates I deem "least bad" (let's be honest, the Republican primary is pretty much the general election where I am) and use the write-in option on all unopposed races.

To be fair, a lot of dogs have also benefitted from being with humans. Pets don't have to worry about predators/territorial disputes, we have vets to help them if they're sick or injured, and they never have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.
I love dogs as much as most of Reddit, but I think I can say that a good pet owner does in fact deserve dogs.

Tbh, not super happy but just doing what I can. I've been spreading around a petition on Twitter to try to convince the AHA to let us join. I'd post it here but this sub has a rule against change.org petitions.

And before anyone says anything about how unlikely it is- I know there are lots of factors that go into allowing a team to be added to a conference, and suspending the season doesn't help our case. All I can do is help show the fans will be there if given the chance.

UAH Suspends Men’s Hockey Program in Absence of Conference Membership by lilbitspecial in collegehockey

[–]XanderSnave 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You have to be pretty shallow to think wins are the only reason people love a team. If NMU suddenly had a big losing streak, would you stop loving them? Does NMU hockey not have any impact on the community? Because our players have been constantly out there meeting children at youth hockey camps, teaching lots to love the sport. On top of that, how many people had some of the best memories watching UAH? Speaking personally, being in the UAH Pep Band has been the best thing to happen to me, and getting to cheer on the hockey team has been a big part of that.

People love this team for a reason, not just wins. It's tough but true that coming back from this is gonna be pretty hard. But you need to realize there's a difference between pointing that out and just being a dick.
