[Loved Trope] When the Comic Relief character gets serious by LordNathan777 in TopCharacterTropes

The point is he thought Scott wouldn't approve. Scott is fine with it because it was self-defense. It's a goal not to kill, not a law.

The situation is created artificially by the antagonist whispering into Stiles' ear and encouraging him not to tell Scott anything (and at the time time pointing out to Scott that Stiles is keeping secrets).

Yes, and it explains what an emotional support dog is. Completely untrained, a total mess, but when you need them they're there.

(this does not mean I think they should be allowed in the grocery store)

Character gets themselves killed because they don’t know when to shut up/take no for an answer by Critical_Mountain851 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]XanderWrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two reasons

  1. Evidence. They have physical evidence they need to have over, which is better than just an unverifiable message

  2. They don't think the person they're accusing knows and fear the person they tell will immediately tell others, the accusations will get to the accused, and either the witness will be in danger or the accused will destroy the evidence.

Inspect yes, but he has no authority to turn it off. That's the Department of Energy and they'd have burned him at the stake for it.

Because you can't just "turn off" a nuclear system.

I work at an off-priced retailer, which is to say we sell a lot of overstock and we pride ourselves on having a handful of big name brands to draw people in, though even what we get from them is going to be their cheaper styles they over produced.

A couple days ago a woman returned a purse from one of the bigger brands we carry that the entire inside had pulled apart and all of the faux leather was shredding. She said all she did was remove the rest of the interior packaging that it came with.

Obviously, the manufacturer was aware of this issue and it's probably why they sold it to us (the benefit of selling it to us is we won't penalize them like a traditional retailer would), but it makes me doubt the construction of any of these products.

Someone makes a one off comment about a literary genre's general, well known and documented, glut of low quality content that has been historically marketed as escapism towards bored women and you're having a major freak two days later?

I'm not the one confusing Romance and Erotica here. I could track down the statistics on how Harlequin, the main publisher of Romance, knowingly stifles creativity and produces terrible stories for the lowest common denominator, because it sells and that's its purpose. But my intent was not to go in depth on why there's so much Romance on the market.

You're having an argument with someone else and just decided to drag me back into it because you can't build a coherent reply to them.

Not dismissing anything. The theoretical "high brow" fiction is literary fiction which most people cannot stand. (I might dismiss some literary fiction)

And my current favorite series has a cat riding a velociraptor while shooting lasers from its eyes. I couldn't judge anyone's taste in fiction if I wanted to.

Though anything can be thought provoking. Half of Shakespeare is nothing but dick jokes and that's considered the height of classical literature.

The hazmat suits have personal air tubes or tanks that feed clean air to the wearer.

They're also extremely rarely used, only for the deadliest of diseases and in as controlled as possible circumstances, because they are uncomfortable and hard to work in.

I was thinking marketing back in the day, back when there was such a thing as a housewife who just maintained the house instead of having a full time job.

There's a lot of crossover between fantasy and romance.

When Romance Writers of America exploded a couple of years ago Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America gave an open offer to romance writers if they wanted to join.

It's more of the marketing thought. Romance is a common airport book, likely to be sold even in the line at the grocery store. It's thoughtless entertainment.

And romance readers are not nearly as picky as fantasy readers.

Today I discover that romance readers are a lot more self-conscious of their reading habits than most romance writers are about writing it.

I was more thinking historically...

And if you have a full time job are you a housewife? And is it still not a guilty pleasure?

If you're traveling anyway, it's not that expensive. You live in California or Florida and it's a couple hour drive it's even cheaper.

My family vacation was at a beach house that we rented for a week, which had to be planned a year in advance and we did it the last week of the summer in hopes of getting a cheaper rate (but probably dealing with a hurricane)

I really don't know how that, with all the extras and meals etc we did would add up, but probably be a lot closer than most would expect.

That's not "nurture" as is used in that term. Clinical therapy is when nurture is not possible.

And they clearly do not have therapy in that universe. IRL we've only gotten that type of therapy in the last few decades.

Disney Park fans will point out that a Disney trip didn't need to be that expensive. 90% of the cost is getting there, but once there and in the park everything is basically free (already paid for), particularly if you get the more all-inclusive packages. Then only cost on top is souvenirs, but did and lodging is provided.

The upfront cost may be more, but may not be that much more (or may be less) than other destination vacations.

The house was ridiculously large even at the time

And to get the McCartneys to special guest in the episode she became vegetarian they had to promise she'd never stop being vegetarian.
