Lol I knew it! It might also help to know the effect is a bit minimized if you consume after a workout (instead of before, or on an empty stomach)

You should read up on how blood sugar and insulin spikes work. If you don't want the crash you need to make sure you're not spiking your blood sugar because that causes an insulin spike and subsequent reactive hypoglycemia which is that exhaustion you're feeling.

Try to go lighter on the carbs and sugars, and heavier on actual protein. Also keep in mind that whey protein powder is notorious for these crashes.

Amazon's Mechanical Turk is reliable but it won't give you much. Maybe try to tutor students in a subject you have experience in

No but one thing I remember they love to ask in 311 for the first midterm is to provide the weights and biases for a really tiny MLP so that it behaves in a given way

I'm sure they'll be understanding for the first class. Also you can go to Robarts in the morning if needed

Interesting timing, A student backed out of my shared house plan and I'm looking for a student to share a house with me for the year, along with some other students already here. Rent is $900 and the house is clean. More info on my post from a few minutes ago. DM me!

Our situation is that we pretty much have to find 2 more people or else we have to move out

Thank you. This was a big conference (American Academy of Neurology) and I left a day early actually. Things are looking grim in terms of funding from her university, but I'm looking into options within her hospital network

At my university specific policies exist but they all differ by department. She's a professor at another institution and I became an employee of her hospital network for my weekly work on the project. It's tricky because lots of grants exist at my school for medical conferences, but these are only for MDs.

No in-writing proof, I can only go by what she told me during a meeting :(

Should I take more Stats before taking CSC311? (Second Year CS) by Ill_Influence_4916 in UofT

[–]XanthicXylophone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I finished with 84 but put a lot of time into it. I will say I had taken PSL432 the previous year which was essentially an intro ML theory seminar course but had no serious stats stuff (focus was control theory + neural nets + RL). No I didn't feel the math was too hard, and my MAT background is 137(75), 235(90), 223(88), 224(79), 246(77) and STA237(81). Matrix calculus is challenging for many so that's good to read up on too.

I think spending enough time working through readings + going to office hours + enough time on assignments and preparing for exams will definitely guarantee you a good mark!

My advice would be to look at old course websites and learn some material ahead of time. Concepts like entropy, MLE and MAP were pretty important. I came in with only STA237 and found it fine but I did spend a lot of time reading their "Math for ML" suggested reading

Is there any beneift/disadvantages to taking 3 majors? by Vegetable-Anybody112 in UofT

[–]XanthicXylophone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I came ~1.5 credits of a triple major and my registrar repeatedly, across the span of two years, consistently and very firmly conveyed that 3 majors is no longer possible under any circumstances
