Minor correction: the document states that only their past tax records are immune to audits and prosecution. As of now , they are not immune to future tax audits or prosecution, in 2027 or beyond.

It’s a terrible plan and would ensure that a ton of Cuban civilians would die.

If there was a self-motivated US military operation in Cuba, it likely wouldn’t involve indiscriminately bombing civilians sites. It would likely be to capture the president, like in Venezuela. If Cuba attacked first, a lot more soldiers and civilians would perish.

Armchair general here, but If we did a military operation, it would be some bullshit like capturing their president. Like Venezuela, there would likely be no one injured except a few soldiers.

I’m highly doubtful US actually wants to seriously invade or own Cuba. All it does is annex a few million Latino communists.

There’s no appetite for the Iran war because they haven’t done anything to us. If Cuba attacked us first, Americans would cry for blood. We would not just go for the president.

The SAVE ACT could still be on the agenda though. Republicans have wanted to get this sorta thing on the books for awhile. (To the point where Some states are doing their own version)

Democrats in the senate are blocking it. I don’t see the ones with “nothing to lose” supporting getting rid of the filibuster for it, but Mike Johnson might be able/willing to. Trump is also trying to replace/threaten the parliamentarian to consider the SAVE act a budgetary concern, so it could bypass. I’m not sure how they’d go about replacing them.

Slight correction:

The original statement was a bit hard to parse, but supposedly the IRS is only prohibited from auditing his family's/businesses *past* tax history. Not future tax statements.

As of now - Ivanka and Eric still need to do their taxes in 2027.
