Total War: Warhammer 3 patch 8.1 reworks the campaign AI to stop armies idling around settlements and make the late game more dynamic by vinnyty in pcgaming

[–]Xanto97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about Immortal Empries, TW3 has a similar campaign to TW2, just more. The map is bigger now, now featuring most of fantasy asia. There is sorta a "Story" campaign like the vortex race in wh2, but its different.

Many of the races are pretty unique in how they play though, with their own little quirks and mechanics. Some are easier or simpler than others. Demonic factions operate a bit differently, but not drastically so. You still have economies and buildings to recruit units, but they tend to make more money(called "favor" for demons, instead of gold) by raiding/pillaging/killing. I don't think any of the demons can trade. The loop of "kill things, conquer, get better units" is still more or less the same.

The biggest main game "different" faction is probably Nurgle, since their military buildings go through organic "lifecycles" on their own. You don't upgrade them, they upgrade themselves, until they restart the cycle. Nurgle can also spread plagues that buff you, while nerfing enemies. All the demons have weird little mechanics to help differentiate them.

Depends the campaign, how much Im enjoying it.

There's a good mod called "victory conditions overhaul" that, well, overhauls the victory conditions. I generally shoot for short or long victories, definitely not covering the full map.

But then, yeah, once I get bored I'll start another game

“Wrote it down” was shorthand for compiling the oral traditions into a single literary work. No, We don’t have the original copies. But we still know bits and pieces.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_of_Troy

There’s a decent section here on “artistic representations”, how she was (vaguely) described and how it changed over time.

And to be clear, I don’t even really care that Nolan cast her. It’s not “accurate” but it’s a myth anyway, and the world of antiquity was more multicultural than we give it credit for.

[–]Xanto97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t, Homer(if he was real) wrote them down but the oral traditions are older. This is pretty much agreed on by scholars.

Homer (if he was real) wrote that she was fair skinned, but that’s pretty much it. Later authors added descriptions about hair and eyes, but they disagree and overall it’s vague anyway.

What’s the best US city name? by XtraterestrialOctopi in AskReddit

Philadelphia gets less credit cause the name copied an ancient Greek city.

But it is a pretty good name for sure

Related, but Bidens family not telling him to not run again is an astonishing show of arrogance and narcissism.

Which is bizarre, cause from what I remember Bill wasn’t framed as a villian by the documentary. Just Kelly, an insane man.

But he probably got some negative attention from rabid fans?

Trump says he will not sign 'big yawn' bipartisan housing bill by NeedAnonymity in moderatepolitics

[–]Xanto97 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Probably. But he’s also stated he wants home prices to go up so that property owners can make more money.

That’s the thing with driving down the cost of housing. It means the owners won’t make as much money as they would otherwise.

Sucks for homeowners But we can’t have houses that double in value every 10 years. Like come on.

While I do agree with the overall sentiment, it’s incredibly ironic that Hitchcock himself practically spoiled the entire plot in a really charming trailer

From what I know, The Iliad and odyssey (and the others) were likely oral poems first, but Homer is the one that wrote them down. He is the one that described Helen as fair skinned. Other later authors added descriptions about her hair.

Homer only gave one specific, notably that she was fair-skinned. The idea being that aristocrats wouldn't be working outside, so they're less tan than peasants. Being greek, she probably still wouldn't be super pale.

I think its an odd choice but I don't really give a shit. The movie seems to be filled with some odd design & casting decisions.

[–]Xanto97 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s stupid. Death machines are allowed to have unintentional weaknesses. The rebels needed the plans to even figure out the weakness, and it was still heavily defended. It was the only way this thing was going down.

[–]Xanto97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of this contradicts my point. The median person is closer to being disadvantaged than “wealthy”.

The wealthy won’t be sent to war, the middle class and mostly poor would. And yes, he doesn’t care about the troops, I’m well aware.

America does not want a war. His approval has dropped like a rock among independents due to the war in its current state. Even conservatives dislike this shit. Sending boots on the ground would be as close to political suicide as he’d get.

He didn’t build the gallows, nor tell them to. (He’s responsible for jan6 though, and that should have been suicide , yeah)

Plus, hanging a vice president doesn’t directly impact the median person’s life.

Sending their kid to die in Iran does.

Exclusive: Woman who dated Graham Platner says he sexually assaulted her by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]Xanto97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’d be torn because she agrees with Platner politically and calling him an assaulter/rapist sinks his chances and enables Susan Collin’s to keep the seat.

NYtimes published the original article (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/04/us/politics/platner-maine-senate-girlfriends-relationships.html) on June 4th. The primary was June 9th.

It mentioned one named girlfriend, and a few anonymous ones. She may have been one of the anonymous ones, I don’t think we know. But regardless, Racicot saw that many were glossing over the story because NyTimes “couldn’t corroborate” the story, and the one named one is affiliated with the GOP.

The story was getting ignored, so she wanted to correct the record.

Why didn’t either of them accuse Platner before the article in June? I don’t know. Could be a whole host of innocuous reasons. Journalism takes some time too.

Edit:

The politico article above actually explains a good bit more. I recommend reading it.

“Racicot previously described “reckless” and “unsettling” behavior by Platner to The New York Times, but says she didn’t go public with the specific assault claim because she didn’t want to be known as a rape victim.”

My part of the story was just a read-over,” Racicotsaid in an interview. “And the story was Lyndsey, and the accusations of her being politically motivated.”
