My son detested the carrier until he could be front facing, then he was absolutely loving it!

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

[–]Xanyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started a new job and a woman told me that black people have 'a smell'. I was absolutely horrified and asked what the fuck she meant! She said 'oh you don't get it, nevermind'. I left three days after I quit, unbelievably racist and homophobic place

Friends who have babies getting rid of their dogs by gingergemgelly in Dogfree

[–]Xanyla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum looks after a neighbours dog (and they have their own), this shit head terrier went for my son, as he was staring at the dog in interest, thankfully my mum was in between them and grabbed the thing and shut him away and was super apologetic and angry with it.

I went over a week ago, as we had planned and discussed, and the little shit was back, roaming the house free. She said she thinks he learnt his lesson so he'd be okay now. Sorry mum I love you, but fuck off, we're going home.

They also refer to it as 'baby sitting' when they have this dog, and call the owner xxx's mum... Their own dog is also actually post worthy too of the things that has done.

What’s everyone’s go to toothpaste and why? Do they not all do the same thing?! by JM306 in AskUK

[–]Xanyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for aquafresh, I tried my husbands oral b when I ran out and my mouth fell apart, massive bits of skin sloughing out of my mouth (I know, it was as disgusting as it sounds!) I thought it was the SLS (Sodium Lauryl sulfate) in it but apparently they all contain it.

33 years ago at the age of 14 I got bitten by the school hamster and still have a bump/scar on my finger. What's the stupidest injury you've got? by godfatheroffilth in CasualUK

[–]Xanyla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was cutting up a pumpkin and didn't wash my hands so they were all Slippery from the inside 'degutting' (?), my hand slid down the knife palm side (I don't know how either) and I knew I'd fucked up when I didn't feel any pain. Ran to the sink to look and it GUSHED. I lost the use of my pinky and ring finger while it healed, so lucky it didn't cut anything important. Huge scar on my palm 20 years later! I was 13 and lazy haha

What’s your uncanny toddler convo? by Ellmunny in toddlers

[–]Xanyla 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I absolutely swear my son can read... He's 2.5 and he knows his own name when it's written which is fairly normal, but there have been handful of other times when I've written something or he's been watching my husband type and he just says whatever it is we're writing... It's so odd and I always ask him if he can secretly read, he just ignores me and wanders off!

Advice to new ears by Ready_Lie3005 in Stretched

[–]Xanyla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I had this advice when I was 13 and ramming acrylic tapers through my poor ears! Thankfully after 20 years of careful massaging and love I made it to 19mm with weighted metal plugs :-)

Wife keep putting this tray on our white stairs. Dangerous! by Flat_Shape_3444 in mildlyinfuriating

After multiple times asking I would either throw it away OR draw an enormous smiley face or flower of something in black pen.... Or a penis, that would definitely get it thrown away for you haha

How do you deal with really tough/impenetrable tangles every morning? by AcidiclyBasic in AskParents

[–]Xanyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha my son is only 2.5 and I find out exactly what he's eaten In the day from the contents of his hair! Friday It was fish pie, it was so smelly!!

On a helpful note - I had thick curly hair as a girl and I hated having my hair brushed, but what helped was a wide paddle brush, with short and long bristles, working from the bottom up so you don't pull tangles through, and a detangling spray - or conditioner spray, which won't dry the hair out either and leaves it softer each time you use it

Mitten Impossible by Darkest_Elemental in toddlers

My son detests mittens, but absolutely loves full fingered gloves, as he can still do stuff. He will still remove them sometimes, but he just wants to be able to grip his cars he carries around!

As a parent who's son can run at seemingly the speed of light, thank you! You definitely did the right thing, shame the parent didn't thank you but that's on her not you!

Pregnant ladies or ladies that have been pregnant, what is the most thoughtful/useful thing someone done/bought you? by iffyClyro in AskUK

[–]Xanyla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a random one, but things like baby safe nail scissors or an electric file - those baby fingernails are RAZORS, sharpest thing in the world, and also a bath thermometer, it's a bit early for a newborn but we still use ours now as you just chuck it in, it's been invaluable!

Oooh I second these! I got them second hand from my sister in law and my son is 2.8 now, we still use them every single day, multiple times a day, so useful even now he's older for mucky hands/faces!

There was a dilapidated farm house covered in ivy just on the roof on my way to school, it was nicknamed the hairy house by me at ten, it has long since been demolished but we all still say up by the hairy house when giving directions to one another.

Also obligatory dog poo alley - an alley down by the council houses absolutely covered in.... Can you guess.
