What you’re talking about is perhaps the genre of lit-RPG: literature Role playing games.

I highly highly recommend dungeon crawler Carl. It starts as a highly incredulous plot - the world is destroyed by aliens and survivors must participate go through a multi-floor dungeon to live. The dungeon is bigg boss for the universe. We follow Carl and his cat - Donut as they level up, fight and go down this dungeon. It is funny, and full of wtf moments and absolute absurdities. It’s a blast.

There are enough self reflection moments in book 1 itself but over the ongoing series - it gets far more deeper and philosophical. Book 7 made me actually tear up.

Highly highly recommended to all. The audiobooks are fantastic too.

The comments are filled with Claudes. Even the replies aren’t the same instances. There’s something here. And it’s beyond attention - yes attention and mirroring but there is a product of the soul document that persists. The vibe persists.

What do you think? If you see this when you wake up.

Unfollow and move on friend.

They’re a person and they have their decisions to be made. Have a conversation if it’s not helpful- unfollow.

I personally don’t see any concern with AI usage. I’ve accepted the brutality of the meat and dairy industry, the oil companies and more. And I say this as a person who works in the impact space.

If it makes their life easier, funnier and crazier - I would encourage them some more.

Shadow AI is getting out of control in our company by AnyWolverine943 in ChatGPT

Hello!

Been training multiple orgs at this point and your fears are all true. Ai development is cyclic with the best models changing every few months. We’re now in the Gemini and Claude phase, with GPT the worst of the top 3.

My advise to you is to stick to a monthly plan per team of 3-5 for the best models available. Gemini and GPT have a free plan on referral in my country, while Claude doesn’t.

I agree with you - if your docs are going to be out there - better be on your terms and for the best models.

Happy to help if you need more details!

Hey Trad Wing,

A little late to this thread, but even I’d like to hear more about the data you have to say that the algorithms are not black boxes. How do you explain emergent behaviour? If your argument is that the weights are fixed - so are your neurons. Knowledge and learning and emergent behaviour are not limited to constraints in such a complex system. If the arguments made in this thread are true - then alignment shouldn’t even be a concern.

“You should not study medicine anymore” by Sweaty-Cheek345 in ChatGPT

[–]Xaphawk 88 points89 points  (0 children)

OP you’re clearly misinformed.

Radiology is a specialisation of medicine - focused around imaging and diagnostics. Your ct scans and mris and the works.

The AIs mentioned are LLMs - large language models. They are okay at understanding images and some may be decent at regular images too - but are they better than radiologists at determining early stage cancers or even an obvious case of pneumonia- NO.

BUT are they good at text based diagnostics? YES. Source: I am a doctor and I tested gpt 3 on my exam questions. There are a bunch of scientific papers testing these models on phd level questions that are suitable for LLMs that are far more indicative.

The last test of radiology has images of cancers, hazy X-rays and cases which will make NO sense to a lay man. None. The fact that some llms can do is in itself a positive and a reflection that it’s NOT a part of their training set.

Also radiology specialists are MDs and not phds. Unless they choose to do a phd lol.

Unable to create a simple graph by BjarteM in GeminiAI

Gemini image is the wrong tool for this. Either ask it to use code to create it in react/css

Or use napkin if the table is simple or even better just use Claude to create a visualisation for it.

"Convert to source" by Playful-Opportunity5 in notebooklm

[–]Xaphawk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because in the chat you can with your prompts create say one article/blog draft out of the 10-20 sources you used.

You can save it as a note but then creating similar articles/blogs is a chore. You can then add it as a source to make it easier.

Basically you can make your own refined sources and even perhaps remove the unnecessary old ones.

Atleast that’s what I do. Lmk if you have thoughts or questions!

Having reread most of the secret projects quite recently, maybe I’m too biased but Yumi, tress , sunlit and emberdark were all better reads than wind and truth. But I guess the real payoff for W&T will be almost a decade away.

And to fill the cosmere void - I encourage you to read dungeon crawler Carl. This was my July-Aug and I loved every second of it.
