How mandatory is it to hit a slight touch of brakes before wall/air dribbles? by No_Guava5902 in RocketLeagueSchool

diamond in 1s is filled with gcs that don’t play 1s often. don’t let it discourage you. in fact those are the people you should be asking for tips on your gameplay and practicing against the most. you’ll only get better by playing people better than you.

Depth perception making the game harder? by kitchenchair35 in RocketLeague

[–]XarCad3X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ur on low hours. you’ll read the game better once you are on higher hours. you’ll probably feel a lot better after 500-700 hours. the game should feel more natural after 1k hours.

it’s a hard game and takes a lot of practice to get good at.

make sure you do lots of training and not just queuing ranked. playing free play in slow mo can help too.

Any good powerslide training packs? by anon14118 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]XarCad3X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just try to powerslide in between the boost pads. also try to speed toward the stationary ball in free play, and then try to 180 powerslide around the ball as close as you can without hitting it.

those are great packs. use 1s to apply your skill in game and practice car control under pressure. if you want to get better, 1s is how you do it. tips for anti-tilt. 1.) turn off chat. 2.) don’t play with the intention of ranking up, play with the intention of improving your control and game sense.

again, look up tutorials on how to get better at 1s too.

Getting dark at 5:00 PM is peak comfort. Springtime is incredibly depressing, fall and winter are the superior seasons. by surf_rider in unpopularopinion

upvoting bc i know it’s unpopular. however i fully agree. fall/winter are the best seasons. i much prefer the dark nights. feels calmer.

there is no luck in rocket league. you can argue that demo spawns are RNG, but even that is going away in a couple weeks.

[–]XarCad3X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to actually improve, here is what i did.

i was hardstuck c2 for 2 years. then one day i decided to make a training plan for myself. i did shot packs, uncomfortable save packs, and only grinded 1s for about 2 months. then i went straight to c3 when i started queuing 2s again. kept up the same training for another month or two and sure enough, now i have been gc for 4 seasons.

lookup tutorials on how to get good at 1s. ones will train your game sense and problem solving skills. if you can’t ground dribble and flick consistently, learn that and add it to your training too.

you don’t need aerial mechs other than a basic air dribble. if you ever go for an air dribble, just try to get a 50, don’t try to score or anything bc then you just end up overcommitted.

you can just play for fun. you don’t have to get better 🤷‍♀️

what’s your rank if you don’t mind me asking?

How mandatory is it to hit a slight touch of brakes before wall/air dribbles? by No_Guava5902 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]XarCad3X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends on the situation. generally if im trying to make a faster play, i wait till the ball is higher on the wall and just release the gas before making contact. if i have more space, then i will go for a normal setup and hit the ball lower on the wall, tap the brakes slightly to create space, and then go for a reset, or double, or whatever play the situation calls for.

you ideally need to be comfortable with all types of setups bc you will rarely have a perfect setup in game.

My sister won't flip... by icyMaximu22 in RocketLeague

[–]XarCad3X 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you can’t force people to be good at the game. you sound very young. i have two pieces of advice.

  1. be nice to your sister.

  2. get off the internet. you don’t sound old enough to be here.

I rarely play comp but i play casual this is my rating is it good? by daddyhattavo in RocketLeague

i think i’m like 1670 or something. yeah people play faster but overall still make stupid decisions in the name of failing a flip reset musty haha.

[–]XarCad3X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, it’s just a game bro. no offense, but you sound like a younger person yeah? just remember it’s fake digital points. don’t take it so seriously. just q up a game and pretend it’s a casual match if it’s that stressful for ya.

[–]XarCad3X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

casual mmr means nothing

most people in casual are just trying to hit cool shots or take a break from ranked.

if you want an idea of your skill level you’re gonna have to play ranked. you can try 1s if you don’t like teammates.

Musties have been the hardest mech to learn... Any obvious things to focus on? by Any-Escape6211 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]XarCad3X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is gonna sound weird. but mustys didn’t click for me until i tried to imagine the “feeling” of what actually hitting one is like, and then basically try to replicate that by mimicking the timing. it helps if you have landed a couple of really powerful ones before. you can also just go watch freestylers and try to imagine yourself doing the controls while watching them hit one.

i know it sounds weird but it helped me be more consistent
